Adi Returns!!

Aditya Chopra, son of Yash Chopra and the director of two super hits DDLJ and Mohabbatein, is all set to return to direction after a long gap of seven years with a Shah Rukh Khan starrer film. But this time Aditya and Shah Rukh will work not on some romantic flick, which has been trademark of Yashraj films, but on a film which will be an out and out action flick. The shooting for the film will start by the end of this year and the King Khan has already blocked his December dates for the Adi's upcoming flick.

As an insider reveals, ' Aditya Chopra has decided on Shah Rukh Khan as the lead in his next film. Right now, he is working on the script for the same. He wants to make an action-packed film and he has cast his favourite Khan, S R K, to play the lead. So far, Aditya has finalized only on his lead hero and that is Shah Rukh Khan and it's definitely going to be a solo hero film.'

There is more proof that Bollywood's Khan brigade is bonding in a major way. Recently, the guest-list at a get together organised by King Khan Shah Rukh and wife Gauri boasted of the who's who of Team Khan.

Although the Indian cricket team couldn't make it to the World Cup finals this year, SRK seems to have celebrated the finals with lots of zeal. Shah Rukh and his friends preferred to party at Mannat. "It was a rocking party," says our source. Interestingly, it was Gauri's idea to watch the match with friends.

Those who made it to the party included Karan Johar, Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder, Saif Ali Khan, Salman and Katrina, Arbaaz Khan and Malaika, Preity Zinta and Ness Wadia and Chunkey Pandey.

"Shah Rukh was in town shooting for Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om, so Gauri asked Farah to pack up and get home early. Gauri had organised a projector screen so that everyone could enjoy that match while chilling out in the drawing room. There was a dance floor too," says our source. SRK and Gauri both take a lot of interest in cricket.

"Mannat was packed with their friends. Everyone had a blast," says another source. Incidentally, it was also SRK's friend Mushtaq Sheikh's birthday . There was good music during the commercial breaks. Gauri personally supervised the food. "The reshmi kebabs and biryani were to die for. Shah Rukh and Gauri are really hospitable and treat their guests very well," says a guest on condition of anonymity.

Salman Khan seemed to be in a particularly jolly mood after a few drinks. He went about exchanging greetings with everyone at the do. He was also seen exchanging bear hugs with birthday boy Mushtaq.

King Khan donates 11 laks for Ankit's liver transplant

King Khan has pledged 11 lakhs for Ankit, who has to undergo liver transplant in Delhi's Gangaram Hospital.

Ankit had multiple jaundice attack and liver transplant became inevitable. What is important to note is that SRK did not even care that Pepsi's endorsement rival's Coke are the other major contributors.

SRK has also appealed to his fans to help in the cause.

I pay more taxes than Hrithik: Amitabh

MUMBAI: Icon Amitabh Bachchan become outraged by a report in a newspaper that claims he is not the "top" tax payer in the country, rather Hrithik Roshan is.

However, Bachchan claims he is the "top" tax payer in the country with Rs.15.59 crore (Rs.155.9 million), and with Aishwarya Rai joining the family, the Bachchan family's total tax would be around Rs.25.3 crore (Rs.253 million).

This came in reaction to a newspaper report that claimed Hrithik Roshan is the highest tax payer with Rs.15.10 crore (Rs.151 million) for 2006-2007 and Shah Rukh paid Rs.14 crore (Rs.140 million) tax.

"I'm surprised by the report and I've serious doubts about its authenticity, because my name isn't mentioned anywhere among the top most taxpayers of the entertainment business. This gives the utterly false impression that I make pots of money and don't pay up enough taxes," Amitabh retorted.

Making clear that he tops among the tax-payers of the country, Big B said, "If you look at the figures for the year 2006-2007, you'll see Amitabh, that's yours truly, has paid Rs.14.15 crore and from our company AB Corp Ltd. where all the earnings are mine, we've paid Rs.1.44 crore.

"Abhishek Bachchan has paid Rs.4.75 crore. And now that Aishwarya Rai is a part of the family, approximately Rs.5 crore tax money has come from her. This makes it a total of Rs.25.3 crore (Rs.253 million).

"And yet they've put Hrithik as the top most taxpayer! Even if you take my tax figures individually, I still top."

Shah Rukh Khan's world cup finals party

Shah Rukh Khan threw a party on Saturday night at his residence Mannat where several celebrities from Bollywood came to watch the world cup finals and enjoy the party at the same time.

When Shah Rukh is the host, the guest list is obviously expected to be long. The world cup final match between Australia and Sri Lanka on Saturday evening was a reason to party and also catch up on cricket.

According to reports, a special projector was put in place at Mannat to screen the match. Drinks, snacks and other delicacies were on the table to please the taste buds. And music was playing in the background.

One by one, a number of guests drove in to join SRK, Gauri and gang.

The guests included the usual suspects like Karan Johar , Farah Khan , Shirish Kunder, Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra Also present were Salman Khan Katrina Kaif , Saif Ali Khan , Arbaaz Khan , Malaika Arora , Amrita Arora , Dino Morea , Tabu , Farhan Akhtar , Raveena Tandon , Kelly Dorji , designers Manish Malhotra and Surily Goel, socialites Queenie Dhody and Parmeshwar Godrej.

The party continued till late night as the guests watched the match and also danced to the music. A source says that Salman Khan was particularly in a very jolly mood. Instead of shaking hands with other guests, Salman hugged them.

Well, that is quite expected of Sallu.

Tax payer no. 1

Hrithik Roshan has surprised everybody by becoming the highest individual Income Tax payer from Bollywood.

Hrithik Roshan has paid Rs 15.10 Crores in taxes for the 2006-07 financial year. Following closely Roshan junior is Shah Rukh Khan who has paid Rs. 14 Crores.

Other high tax payers from Bollywood include Akshay Kumar who has paid - 6.7 Crores, Kareena Kapoor 2.9 Crores and John Abraham - 1.1 Crore.

Celebration time for the Chopras!

It's celebration time for the Chopras. The romantic, evergreen Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) is getting better and better and bigger with each passing day and year. On Friday the 13th of April, it entered its 600th week of continuous run in the theatres, we are informed. It's a feat which has so far been unmatched anywhere in the world. The film has apparently been running successfully in one of Mumbai's oldest movie theatres and keeps pulling audiences back for a dekho. DDLJ was Aditya Chopra's first film as a director and also one of the biggest blockbusters ever to grace the Indian screen. Hats off to the Chopras for achieving this record feat!

SRK's biography to be released in October

We had told you last week about Shah Rukh Khan's next biography by the well-known film writer, Anupama Chopra. Here is more. The full title of the book is 'King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan and the Seductive World of Indian Cinema'.

As per Anupama's synopsis, "Here is the astonishing true story of Bollywood, a sweeping portrait about a country finding its identity, a movie industry that changed the face of India, and one man's struggle to become a star. Shah Rukh Khan's larger than life tale takes us through the colorful and idiosyncratic Bollywood movie industry, where fantastic dreams and outrageous obsessions share the spotlight with extortion, murder, and corruption."

The book reading, sale and signing, followed by a cocktail reception, is to take place on October 4, 2007.
