| With the Diwali releases narrowing down to three biggies -- SHAADI NO. 1, KYON KI… and GARAM MASALA -- the prospects of the three films opening to a thunderous response during the festive week have only brightened. But everyone's keenly looking forward to the clash of two Priyadarshan films [KYON KI… and GARAM MASALA] on the same date. "Both are different films in terms of content," GARAM MASALA producer Ratan Jain informs me, "And every film will find its target audience." Can't the clash be averted? "Well, they [KYON KI…] were supposed to hit the screens in August, while we had decided on a Diwali release. But, for some reason, they decided to release it in the Diwali week, hence this clash. Nevertheless, I don't see the two films cutting into each other's business since the stars are different and so is the genre," the soft-spoken producer clarifies. Meanwhile, the Jains have decided to promote GARAM MASALA aggressively to stand out in the crowd. Also, the producers are planning a series of premiere shows across the globe. "It all depends on the availability of the actors' dates. Akshay is in the U.S., while John is abroad as well. We may take a decision on this later," Jain adds. |
