It's mostly in India,Bangladesh...all these asian countries that there is an obsession with fair skin colour and not in most other countries.I'm from the UK and here we don't get fairness cream ads and all this crap being promoted...it's such a shame that in our own countries that we get discrimination against our own people for their skin colour.I just don't understand why when someone is fair they are considered beautiful even when they don't have such a good looking face and someone dark is seen as ugly even when they have beautiful facial features .This outlook is just ridiculous and way beyound my understanding.

Yes it's unfair of them to show that part several times but if you see ads on any TV channel there are several skin lightning Ads shown frequently and most of them claim being fair increases ur popularity 👎🏼. So the point is that same logic should apply to them as well. Why single out only BB for that after all they don't claim they are here to send a social message 🤔

No one can make you feel inferior unless you give them the permission to do so...why should one feel inferior because of dark skin...if someone wants a fair bride...thats their preference...why kill someone over that...

There is nothing bad about wanting a fair person as a life partner. I agree with people saying its their personal choice. But, rejecting someone solely on the basis of the color of their skin cannot be justified as choice, it's shallowness. Also, putting "fairness" down as a "must" criteria reflects shallowness.

I agree with Pulwasha and Blue-ice. Dark skinned people should not let anyone make them feel inferior. Thousands of men drool over dark skinned beauties such as Bips, PC, Beyonce, and Halle Berry.

I do agree with most of your post though. There is an unhealthy obsession with fair skin in India and we are racist towards our own skin tone. We make our own dark skinned beauties feel insecure.

But I don't expect a show like Big Boss to change that. Modern media is not an educator or path breaker, but it is just a reflective mirror. Such shows reflect fabric of society and the things that sell. Our media is not going to change until we change. Educated people in the nation must take a stand against such attitudes and change the way society thinks. Blaming the media just puts us in circles.

I agree with RTH...It is norm in India about fair skin...you can check all the matrimonial sites...they want fair, slim and tall bride!! Having said that it doesn't mean that Dark skinned people are inferior or feel inferior...that's just an assumption people always make!! I doubt BB is promoting anything to do with Racism...nor the contestants intended to show Racism...
And skin has something called Melanin which determines the skin colour...it has no relation to the outerworld... it controls the amount of UV, or sun rays absorbtion based on the exposure... Humidity doesn't cause darker skin...
Discrimination based on skin color is there everywhere in the world...Its just the laws that control how vocal you can get about it...
And people always want something which they don't have... A white skinned person spends $ for skin tanning and a dark skinned color spends on fairness products or skin radiance!! Its a normal human behavior!! Its called Grass is always green on the otherside of the hill!!

He was being SARCASTIC and making fun of the ads in the newspaper. People just need a reason to degrade amar. For the sake of the argument ,what is wrong with having preferences for gora skin type. Some people like caramel skin, other prefer dark skin. Its just personal preferences. He wasn't making fun of anyone, did he ever say that being dark skinned is bad?
