Endemol India, the international entertainment-production company behind some of Indian television's most successful reality shows, including Bigg Boss, Fear Factor, Deal Or No Deal and Show Me The Money, is getting sued by one of the contestants of the reality show, Zor Ka Jhatka which is hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. A contestant, television actor Akashdeep Saigal, who previously had serious issues while shooting for two earlier reality shows, Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao and Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, got sacked for not reporting on the sets.

A source confirmed, "Akashdeep loves to make a splash on reality shows, if not by winning then by other means. Right from the first day he was the loudest and most flamboyant of all contestants. After a few days in Buenos Aires, Akashdeep suffered a rib injury. He was advised to discontinue shooting for some days and to get off alcohol and cigarettes for 30 days. But he was partying right through. He took four days to let the injury heal. But on the fifth day he refused to turn up for the shoot. All the other contestants began to question Akashdeep's absence. Endemol representatives in Buenos Aires had no choice but to ask Akashdeep to return to Mumbai, but without cutting his due remuneration."

Instead of returning back he decided to sue Endemol India. "The next call that the Endemol representative in Buenos Aires received was from Akashdeep's Argenitinian lawyer. Apparently, Akashdeep asked for an alleged Rs 2 crores and a 10-year contract with Endemol," said the source.

The source continued, "After he was out of the show he was asked by Endemol to leave for Mumbai. He said he'd leave after New Year's, and continued to stay. With the intention to shut down the show, Akashdeep tried to convince the other contestants to abandon the show on the grounds that they were all working on tourist visas. But when the other contestants questioned Endemol India's personnel, they got to know that all the papers and permits were in fact in order."

Eventually Akashdeep moved out of the hotel and rented an apartment in Recoleta in Buenos Aires and continued to pursue his legal battle with Endemol even after the rest of the contestants returned to Mumbai on 19 January."

At the moment, Akashdeep has an open Buenos Aires-Mumbai ticket, courtesy Endemol India and is still in Buenos Aires. After days of trying to track him down, this paper finally got his Argentinian number. After several messages and calls Akashdeep finally answered saying, "I'm in a meeting. Can you call me after half an hour?" No more was heard of him.

After much persuasion, Deepak Dhar, Endemol India Country Head, revealed, "At Endemol, the safety of our cast and crew is a priority. Akashdeep sustained an injury during the show and was advised by doctors not to continue shooting. We too adhered. The decision to work with any actor is dependent on the requirement of the shows we produce." On being repeatedly asked if Akashdeep had indeed taken a legal action against Endemol India, Dhar responded, "Not that I am aware of." However, a spokesperson associated with the company confirmed that Saigal had sued Endemol.
