'Rakhi is a charmer'
Abhishek, small time actor and choreographer was mostly unknown until Rakhi Sawant proclaimed her love for him on the reality TV show Bigg Boss. The man's also confident that his lady love will be the ultimate winner on the show. "It's no small achievement to be on national television. Rakhi's popularity has doubled after she came on the show. They even chucked her out, but it became very boring without her. Her re-entry has caused such a dhamaka, she's a winner," says a proud Abhishek.
But isn't she considered a moohphat (big mouth) by her housemates — nobody seems to like her! "Rakhi's a natural, she likes making friends and talking to everyone. Even kids and the elderly adore her. She doesn't fake it like the rest of them," he says.
So what's it like to date an item girl — does the tag affect him? "Let them call her an item girl, what's the harm? Who's not an item girl today... Lara is one, so are Bipasha and Aishwarya. They've all done item numbers but people still call them actresses. Even Rakhi has acted in Chura Liya Hai Tumne and Main Hoon Na. Why don't you call her an actress then? People are such hypocrites, they set different standards for different people."
And what about the numerous controversies she manages to rake up? "Rakhi's never wrong.😕 Woh bahut samajdhar aur hoshiyar ladki hai. Log toh Seetaji par bhi shak kiye, toh hum insaan ko chodenge kya? I trust her."
And during the infamous Mika Singh kiss episode, Abhishek claims it's he who helped Rakhi tide through the crisis. "I've been a witness to what she went through during that period, she was shattered. I wanted to beat up Mika, but I didn't want to add to the chaos. But today if I bump into him somewhere, I don't know what I might do to him," admits Abhishek.
He also doesn't mind living in her shadow and being called Mr Rakhi Sawant. What's wrong with that? I don't care what the world thinks. Aren't we championing equality for men and women?"
Rakhi's also spoken about the two of them getting married, so when's the big day? "Not so soon, usko career banani hai. I don't want to stop her doing anything." His family is also more than happy with their prospective bahu. "My parents love her — they can't wait for us to be married! My niece and bhabhi are huge fans of her. Rakhi is like that, a charmer."
