The world has a skewered definition of masculinity. Biceps, abs and polished shoes don't make a man. I was actually expecting too much from Arshi it seems.
Now, am thinking Arshi has a problem with her own femininity. Is she not secure enough in it? Is that why she's desperate to put down her friend to in the name of humour? Who decided what traits are feminine and what traits are masculine? We're in the 21st century. People have come out of their caves, slowly and gradually and are accepting change.
How come there's not a single person in that house who represents that change? Vikas excluded and Hiten excluded.
Well said. Agree. I too had been hoping against hope in Arshi's case, but looks like people just fall back into their patterns no matter who holds their hands.
I'd imagine Arshi has her own issues and not just with her femininity. Not being condescending, since all of us have our own baggage, but Arshi's current behaviour towards Vikas doesn't follow any logic or as far as logical behaviour can be expected within the house. Or then, she'd been playing her game very well with Vikas and has moved on to Akash now and will to Hina and onwards.
For somebody who professedly came down from the US, Akash is a degenerate. For that matter, very few people inside showcase human qualities. And the fact is, as Salman said on an early WKV, Vikas shows that the game can be played without maara maari and chillam chillayi. And without bitching and sexual barbs. But again, is even educated India (since they represent a cross-section) so backward that hardly anybody takes up an egalitarian stand when it comes to sexuality?
Priyank can take up swords to profess to the world that he is not gay, but doesn't he have it in him to say that he is not, but if he was, then what? I'd have stood on my chair and whistled for him. Not talking about sexuality is one thing and saying the right thing is so important at this point. Hiten shows his solidarity by standing by Vikas always, which is the least he can do. But every other person inside the house has exposed a homophobic self at one point or the other on the show.
When will it not be too early to ask to see change from educated people in India?
