I’m gonna give her the benefit of the doubt re “habshi” because I’m told it can also refer to people who hog food, and it was said in a food-related context. Yeah it’s a shitty thing to say and none of her business, but I don’t believe she meant to be racist.

Oh, let's just admit it. Rubina's vocabulary isn't robust and she's used words that don't exist in English language or used words in wrong context. Degenerative, rampentingly, fondity, etc. She's prone to making mistakes just as anyone else. In any case, one's vocabulary isn't a benchmark of intelligence. As for this particular incident, it does seem like she's used in the food context, so she can be given a benefit of doubt here. Other than that, hi-five pe issue banana and calling it an invasion of private space is ludicrous. 😆

Um, did you assume I was praising Rubina's language or communication skills? I wasn't. 😆 Communication and comprehension both are important skills in both real world and a reality show world. Rubina might be able to phrase something but more often than not what she has to say hardly ever makes any sense. I meant she's prone to making errors just as about anyone else and just because she throws around heavy words, that doesn't make her intelligent. So yes, I agree that her vocab needs some working.

That's an interesting point you have made, while I don't think Rubina has inferiority complex but she does definitely try to make use of language and diction in a manner that'd make her look classier, educated, well read and well spoken in a bid to establish a superiority complex over the rest. But that can count as feeling inferior when you're deliberately and time and again trying to sell yourself off as something you're clearly not.

Command over English is no benchmark in this context, and I wouldn’t bat an eyelid over such faux pas generally. In fact, they can often be hilarious - like Manu’s “snack” (he meant snake 😆) in S10.

But with Rubina it’s constant - all these made up words coming outta nowhere. I don’t get it - her Hindi is perfectly fine, and this is a Hindi show - so use Hindi then. But she insists on yapping away in English with this made up vocabulary despite being repeatedly told to use Hindi.

And funny enough - her husband - who nit picks others and belittles them - doesn’t find it necessary to correct his wife and aid her in not making a fool of herself thus.

And yeah - IMO, this constant use of fancy-sounding words, whether they exist or not, is an attempt at appearing classier and better educated than the others. In fact, Rahul and Eijaz have a far better command over English, but they don’t flaunt it thus.
