So many times I have seen Rahul asking iska matlab.... I myself don’t understand whatever the Urdu words Arshi use . And they use only basic English in the show which I am sure majority understand. Same majority which understands Urdu words . If some don’t understand English then some also don’t understand Urdu .
This way Punjabi is also similar . Will BB allow Punjabi in the show ?
And it’s not about understanding the language but about the RULES .
Urdu is a different language and as per the Rule Book which Arshi reads a lot now days it’s a HINDI show so speaking Urdu is also against the Rules which Arshi breaks.
I did not say they are exactly the same languages. I said they STEM from the same language system - Khari Boli. Khari Boli is the mother of both languages.
Punjabi does not stem from Khari Boli and, therefore, has no relevance to the discussion here. Hindi and Urdu are the original sister languages and are inseparable by all means. You cannot reject one and accept the other. They have become separate / distinct languages over the course of time due to the infusion of Persio-Arabic vs Sanskrit vocabulary within their literary usage.
You might find it interesting that NONE OF THE CONTESTANTS IN THE HOUSE uses proper / pure Hindi (except for Rubina perhaps). However, Rubina's usage alone of the language cannot be used to set the standard for what should and shouldn't be spoken in the house. It's good that she uses it, but then that's about it.
Do you really think the language Salman speaks is Hindi?
In reality, when you say HINDI, it's HINDUSTANI (the common man's language - a mix of Persio-Arabic and Sanskrit words - in short, a Urdu-Hindi mix). That is what's excepted of the housemates - and not what Rubina speaks (which is also appreciable). The viewers of BB comprise mostly of the common public.
If you wish to know how official or textbook Hindi is spoken, please refer to the speeches of Indian parliamentarians. If you wish to learn how textbook Urdu is spoken, watch old Bollywood movies and listen to Gulzaar Saab's ghazals.
