I don’t normally make threads, so apologies in advance for any glaring (or not so glaring) faux pas.
So Shukla’s fave explanation for his atrocious behaviour, which includes verbal abuse, threats of violence, actual violence, invasions of personal space, actually abusing people’s families (not simply going on them), bullying, s**t shaming, and the like to give a rough picture - is as follows (in as many words):
“If someone sets the bar for good, I raise it for good, if someone sets the bar for bad, I raise it for worse”
Ok - let’s look at the second part of that very intelligent statement - I.e., the raising the bar for the worse.
Apparently - according to the Constitution and Manual of Existence of the great region of Shuklapur - the above is simply Shukla’s very sophisticated way of justifying his behaviour as always being in “reaction” - and never “action”.
And reactions come as a result of the oft used and abused term - Provocation. But erm - even a halka sa hawa ka jhonka provokes this hilti dulti vibrations ki dukaan. Toh erm - the bar? 🤔 Ah - it’s set VERY low - in the minus actually, given facial expressions, tones of voice, simply Shukla’s name being mentioned, a friend disagreeing with Shukla’s decrees or even simply voicing an alternative opinion - Bechara Shukla - all of this provokes him. And in his world - both warrants and justifies threats of violence, actual violence, and statements like “tere baap ki galti tera bhai and tu”. Sigh.
But one wonders - if the above provokes Shukla to “react” so atrociously, what of the others? I mean - if Shukla only reacts, and never acts - what are the following:
- Shukla’s nasty smirks and chudail laughter, especially when others are being humiliated, bashed, and having their personal lives ripped apart?
- Shukla’s way of talking to and about people - as though they’re specks of dirt - friends or foes - putting people down and demeaning them even in benign conversations.
- S**t shaming and character trashing - whether it’s an ex or a current love interest in an equation he refuses to credit or name. And this despite being fully party to said equations, but having no accountability for his own part in it.
- Shukla’s entertaining harassment flirting - despite women telling him repeatedly to back the hell off.
- Bullying and mocking people along with his jhund of sycophants - jab dekho - especially people like Vishal, who Shukla clearly thinks is beneath him.
I could go on, but essay already kaafi lamba hota jaa raha hain - I’ll let others add what they feel I’ve missed - please feel free. All of the above = actions, but na, others do not get provoked to Shukla’s version of “reaction”. Wonder what that says about the lovely Shukla.
And the first part of the intelligent statement - I.e., that if someone sets the bar for good, Shukla raises it for good. Erm - 🤣
There are people in that house who are hardworking and fair - how again, did the aalsi magarmach raise that bar? There are people there that respect the basic individuality of other people, their capabilities and opinions - how again, did “apna dimaag mat chalao” raise that bar? There are people there that accept that they make mistakes and show remorse. How again, or rather when - has Shukla even met that bar, let alone raise it? There are people there that have, despite the craziness of that house, developed, maintained and even survived wonderful, respect-filled friendships and equations - lol, Shukla wouldn’t know friendship if it hit him in the face - so again, the bar?
And most importantly - there are those there that have survived a difficult journey full of accountability, challenge and humiliation - while Shukla has enjoyed his privileged and whitewashed farce. And despite that - cracked in the CR with his trusty violence threats and quitting whining in tow. Raised the bar indeed.
Hmm - again, I could go on, but rehne dete hain. Point is - there isn’t a single bar set for good that Shukla has even consistently met, let alone raised.
So you see - the intelligent statement, is actually a load of hogwash. But as a result of BB’s “imaandaari” this season, it too receives a whitewashed seat on the pedestal - same as its spouter Shukla does. All Shukla does deserve credit for is setting a new bar for the worst.
