He walked down the hallway, dodging over the wet spots, "Jabhi mujhe jana hota hai , tabhi hi inhe saaf karna yaad ata hai" Armaan mumbled under his breath.
He quickly rounded the hallway and seeing no one in sight, he started running. He made it outside of Men's Universe and ran to his car. He felt around his pockets for his keys and panicked when he couldn't feel them. Realizing, that his getting where he wanted was more important than his car, he got a taxi and reached home. When he got home, Armaan saw no lights on.
"Koi bhi nahi hi ghar par?" He thought.
When he reached the door he was it was ajar. He felt his hands getting sweaty and his breath quickening. Armaan barreled inside, stumbling on the sofa which lay across the entrance. Hysteria submerged on his senses as he ventured further in the house. All his vases were demolished, glass lay in smithereens on the floor, his curtains were lacerated, and everything reposed indiscombobulation.
"Shayad gusse mein Bharti ne ghar ki ye haalat bana di hai" he thought
" Bharti, Bharti, I'm sorry baba, next time se promise mein time pe ghar a jaonga, Promise," Armaan sorted, a few times after reapeting his statement, Bharti still didn't come.
Befuddlement and dread set in , Armaan ransacked his house. He searched everywhere, under the bed, under the sofa, in the kitchen, on the roof, He didn't find Bharti anywhere.
Armaan skittered to the phone to call Payal.
"Payal.. Payal , woh woh." Armaan managed to lisp
"Whats wrong?"Payal suddenly alert asked Armaan, she had never heard Armaan so perplexed before.
"It'.It's Bharti, I.. I can't find her anywhere" Armaan rendered.
"Are you sure? I mean it's not like Bharti to just disappear, she hates being alone, if she goes somewhere she'll take Bhaskar, but he's here with me, Maybe she's with Jiah at her grandma's or with Radha, I'll call Jiah , you call Radha and calm down, idhar kidhar hi hogi wo." Payal reassured Armaan.
Armaan couldn't reply, he didn't feel anything, everything was numb, all he knew was that if he couldn't find Bharti, he would die, he wouldn't be able to survive without her strawberry smell filling his senses every time he was near her. He wouldn't be able to make it through even a day without her smile to keep him working , her hugs and kisses which gave him all the power to survive with no one else in the world. She was the only person he had, the only person he had ever loved, the only person he could love except for Jiah. Bharti was the reason he had his family or he would have left them. Bharti was why he had his mother's love, his father's care , she was why he had smiled in a long time when he had first met her, she was the reason why he had a heart. Jiah had been there but she was someone who gave him love but never shared love with him. Bharti meant everything to him. A tear rolled down his eye. He had never appreciated her; he had always taken advantage of having her now he truly realized her value. They had been through so much to be together and now that they were finally together , he didn't want them apart again.
"Radha, Kya Bharti tumare saath hai?" Armaan asked uncertainly, whimpering a little
"Nahi, kyun?"Radha replied.
"K..Kuch nahi, Sorry for disturbing you itne raat ko."Armaan whispered trying to control his sentiments.
"Ok, take care though and tell me if something's wrong," Radha bid sensing the worry in Armaan's voice.
"Beep" his phone sounded, Armaan rushed to it, hoping that it was Bharti.
"Yaar, Bharti tou Jiah ke saath nahi hai, Im sure woh Radha ke saath hogi, I didn't want to call incase tumhe pata jal gaya ke woh Radha ke saath hai, Good Night" read his text
Now Armaan was sure something had happened to Bharti. A tear rolled down his eyes, he had fallen in love with her at first sight. Bharti had gotten Armaan to believe in love again, to believe that not everyone takes advantage of you then leaves you. He had to have her by his side or he couldn't live.
"Bharti , Bharti where are you?" Armaan cried. "Bharti, I love you, I really really do" Armaan said before a sob escaped his mouth. He was wishing that somehow his words could bring her back.
He walked outside to her favorite spot in their backyard, by the poinsettias. A soft moan broke the stillness that surrounded it. Armaan searched back to where he heard the moans and sobs from.
Armaan's eyes lay upon the thing before him; there was Bharti, clothes torn and scars on her body. He scooped her up, and hugged her tight never to let go. He kissed her hair and patted her back to calm her down.
"It's ok," He didn't even want to think about what had happened to bring Bharti to this state. He carried her inside and brought her a glass of water, while she tried to stop crying.
Armaan sat by Bharti on the sofa and wrapped his arms around her.
"What ever happened when I was not here don't think about it, It really doesn't matter, I love you just the same," Armaan contemplated, he just wanted her to calm down.
"I tried I really tried to stop him" Bharti defensed.
"It doesn't matter , what matters is that you are here safe," Armaan refaced.
"I..I got us a dog I was training him and he ran away , he even jumped on me and made our house a mess, I ran after him and tried to stop him but he ran." Bharti completed leaving Armaan's mouth hanging in shock.
A quick chuckled escaped him, this was not what he had thought had happened at all.
"You're crying cause the dog you trained ran away. Bharti, you had me so scared, Didn't you hear me calling for you?"
"Yeah but I thought you would be mad, you said you had a dog when you were little so I tried to get one for you, but it didn't work." Bharti fumbled in a child like voice
Armaan tried really hard not to laugh, her innocence often amused him,It was as if before there was nothing stronger than her and like she could control dogs before.
"Bharti, ummm" he searched for words " Its ok, we can get something else to take care of.
"What.. what if the other dog runs away too?" Bharti questioned with her big brown eyes curious at what her husband would say
"I'm not talking about a dog,"Armaan whispered
"I'll go change" she quickled fuggled .
After 5 minutes of Bharti not returning, Armaan went in their room to check and saw Bharti fast asleep looking so vulnerable , she always had this tough act up but truly she was a soft-hearted young girl who he had been lucky enough to get in his life, he went to her side, held her in a tight embrace and drifted off.
