Telly actress Ragini Khanna is Bollywood funnyman Govinda's niece and is currently essaying the role of Bhaskar and Bharti (Ragini juggles the

two roles) on the TV show Bhaskar Bharti.
Ragini's a little like the Kajalbhai of the famous show Hum Paanch. Ragini says that she is following Uncle Govinda's strategy in showbiz. "If Govinda didn't need the help of an established actor to make his place in the film industry, why would I? I have worked in a call centre, paid for my portfolio from my own money and auditioned for every role that has been offered to me. And I haven't done all that without a reason. I have done it to ensure that I hold myself responsible for my failures and successes. The onus should be on me completely," she says.
And while we are talking about Govinda, what is her bond like with her cousin Narmada (Govinda's daughter) who is all set to join the Bollywood brigade soon? "We have grown up together and like any other sister duo, we've had our share of fights. Unlike me, she is more reserved and coy. And she will never be competition to me. I just wish her all the luck," says the doting sis Ragini.
Other than her roles on the TV, the actress wants to essay a role like Naomi Watt's in the flick King Kong. "If I get a director who can make something like that, I will go out of my way to essay that role. But the director should have the right perspective. It would be great fun sharing chemistry with a giant ape."
Besides TV and wanting to share chemistry with an ape, Ragini is also enthused by the idea of adopting kids. Following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who were in news for adopting more kids? "I don't have my Brad Pitt as of now.
However, I will find him the moment I sign a flick like The Mexican," she laughs, adding, "Adopting a child is a personal issue. I would love to do a good deed like this. I respect Sushmita Sen, as she had the guts to break social barriers and do what she believe in."
Is charity just another way of earning Karmic points? "I don't go to any charitable organisation. All we need to do is take care of those who make our lives simpler. I make sure my staff that helps me on a day-to-day basis is looked after. As far as monetary help goes, I offer it to those who are in dire need of it. I don't do charity blindly," she says.
