Chapter 31

Kunwar Pratap and his family reached Bijolia late in the night where they were all welcomed by Rao Mamrakh ji and his wife both of them tensed as their daughter had gone into a catatonic state - she didn't speak and did not even acknowledge anyone's pleading instead she lay staring at the carpet where the mutilated body parts had fallen. Hansa Bai took the ladies to their chambers while Pratap and his brothers along with Rao Mamrakh ji went to the court as they had received a special message from Rawatji. Rawatji's letter told them all about Jagmal's training which made the people in the court happy but Shakti vowed revenge from Jagmal his own style. He had even started plotting for it and made a note to ask Patta and Balwant to join in the plan. They all proceeded to move to Ajabde's room where Vaidji came out looking all flustered

RM: Vaidji is everything alright?

Vaidji: Baisa just ran away

Everyone is shocked when Hansa Bai comes with the ladies

HB: What is going on?

Vaidji: Ranisa Ajabde Betiya just ran away towards the stable calling for Lakshmi

HB: Calling for Lakshmi at this hour?

Both her sons came out dressed up moving towards the stable and she realised they had a hand in it

HB: Where do you think both of you are going?

Patta and Balwant look at the people present and then at each other's faces and then back to everyone

Balwant: We were going for a stroll. Right Patta Bhai

Patta: Yes yes stroll. The weather is so nice so we decided to go for a stroll

HB: And this stroll has nothing to do with Ajabde being in the cowshed at this hour

Both the boys knew they were in trouble so they told their mother the truth

Patta: Jija was not speaking Maa so we had to do something

Balwant: Yes Maa we just couldn't let her sit there staring at the carpet it was becoming creepy

RM: What did you do?

Both of them (in a hurry): We told her that Lakshmi ran away and so did the wild bull Raja

HB: What?

Balwant: We might have overheard Subhagyawati Jija talking to Jija in the morning and even at that time she responded really well to Lakshmi's name so we might have repeated Subho Jija's words again and Ajabde Jija was off in a moment

HB hit her head: What am I going to do with you?

Boys: Nothing. Right now we have to go as Jija needs our help. Would be joining us as well (looking at Pratap, Shakti and Vikram)

They all nod and together they proceed to the cowshed in search for Lakshmi

Chapter 32

Lakshmi!! Lakshmi!! Come back here this instant. I'll give you your favourite grass Ajabde pleaded with her cow who was nowhere to be found. She had no idea what was going on all she remembered was staring at her carpet where there was a huge blood stain and her brothers talking to her about Lakshmi and Raja's elopement

Ajabde thought angrily (to herself): Let me find you once Lakshmi then you will spend you entire life in the inner cowshed and that Raja I will make sure he is taken somewhere far away. He is totally spoiling you

As she walked a bit further she found her cow sitting peacefully chewing her grass while the bull was sitting a bit far but his eyes were trained on her cow. Ajabde went to Lakshmi offering her a little more grass then softly petted her hair

Ajabde to Lakshmi:

You scared me today Lakshmi when they said that you had run away with Raja I was so scared. Promise me you will never ever run away. If you wish to be with him the so be it but no elopements for you young lady

Then it was like all the day's events came crashing down on the princess who snuggled close to her cow and closed her eyes dozing off into slumber and that is how she was discovered by the group of men who were looking for the Rajkumari and her cow

As they took in the exhausted form of the sleeping person they all realised the strain she had suffered so without much fuss Pratap picked up his would be bride taking her back into her chambers while the others went to Shakti's room to learn more of his plan

Pratap was left alone with Ajabde who was not sleeping peacefully instead she was having nightmares. Nightmares that made her tremble and sweat as she tried to reach out for something or someone helplessly. Pratap kept on comforting her but when her broken voice called out his name he knew he had to wake her up

Pratap: Open your eyes Ajabde see I'm right here

Ajabde opened her eyes trying to figure out who was calling her but as her sight landed on Kunwar Pratap she stared at him for a good few minutes

Pratap: Ajabde?

Ajabde: Are you really here or am I still dreaming?

Pratap gathered her in his embrace tilting her face towards him he captured her lips in a kiss. A kiss that was deepened by the princess who wanted to just glue herself to her love - Pratap slowly laid her back while holding her in his arms and then proceeded to shower kisses all over her face and then neck and back to her lips while Ajabde just held him tight

Pratap broke off the kiss and just lay beside her: So now you know whether I'm really here or are you dreaming? He smiled

Ajabde just snuggled close to him enjoying the warmth that was being radiated all over. She kept on touching his arms, shoulders even his face trying to calm her raging nerves that he was truly with her and was unharmed

Before he could say a word she began

Kunwar Pratap I need you to speak with Raja and find out his intentions towards my Lakshmi

Pratap: Raja the bull?

Ajabde: Yes Raja the wild bull. He has been eyeing my Lakshmi for some time now I tell you and my poor innocent Lakshmi is going to fall his charms

Pratap: Like you fell for mine?

Ajabde looked at him and he smiled: Lakshmi is not going anywhere Ajabde. After what happened with that letter you became catatonic so your brothers decided to bring you out of it by talking about Lakshmi and it worked. So now if you are ready we can talk about the letter

Ajabde: No I have no interest in talking about that letter from that psychopath who intends on using acid to kill someone that resembles you and send me body parts as token of proclamation of his love. He can go and rot with his acid in his own death bed for all I care

Pratap: So what do you care for?

Ajabde: The wedding which is right at the corner that reminds me what are you doing here with me? What if someone saw us? You know it's not auspicious for the groom to see the bride and...

Pratap: Firstly everyone knows I'm with you and they have no problems with it, secondly the marriage is two days away and thirdly I cannot see you on the wedding day morning till we sit in the mandap Ajabde - I'm allowed to meet you before that besides I'm finding it a little hard to stay away from you. He bends his head and kisses her again

She blushes and snuggles in his embrace when a yawn breaks free

Pratap: Sleep I'll still be here in the morning I promise
