Debate: Sony TV's 'Pratap' is not the Historic Maharana Prat - Page 3

Many on the forum share your frustration. The problem is that the writers of all these so called "historical" shows are not interested in representing history at all. They just know how to make soap operas and that's what they are doing under the guise of a historical. If that's what their purpose is, they should just stick to that and not even bother with a historical. A historical should follow history. I understand they have to fill in gaps here and there when not much is known about certain events, but adding events that did not happen and could not have happened, just makes the shows a complete disaster.

I don't buy the concept that fake melodrama and story lines have to be added to make history interesting. These characters in real life went through so much that there is no need to add fake events. If the writers can not take their stories and create something wonderful, touching, and heartfelt, I say they just lack the talent and imagination to do so.

The worst part of it is that millions of people are actually buying what is shown as real history. The memory, the sacrifice, and the accomplishments of these icons of Indian history are being ridiculed. It is a great disservice to our history.

Adding a disclaimer is not a solution. If there is no inclination of trying to depict real history, just create soap operas and leave the historical characters alone.

Sony's character is not an accurate description of the historically famous king, but is rather a mentally unstable human being incapable of running a kingdom. Sony's Pratap is selfish beyond means and is a horrible husband and citizen. He does not care at all about the Motherland, because if he did, he would realize that his silence would result in his death, would leave Jugmal the future king (a person who didn't hesitate to kill his mother -imagine how he would treat his people). He doesn't even value his wife but only cares about his precious Choti Maa (Deerbia). He gets mad at his wife over the slightest thing and wouldn't hesitate to leave her should the circumstance arrive. No woman should be unfortunate enough to be the wife of Sony's Pratap. He has no sense of justice and cannot tell right from wrong. The younger Pratap Sony created was still much better than the one they are currently ruining.

Sony's Pratap is full of faults and negative traits. His citizens shouldn't be unfortunate enough to have him as a King.

I can understand your frustration dear .being a viewer when you can be so angry imagine about it i being from their family .how much i am agitated . repeatly i was was begging not to show wrong history .but to no avail instead one of our forum member reported about me that am abusing her/ him and another member abused me saying that i am wrongwith abusive language even knowing my age is 44 . and why they watch this serial is because that they are main lead 's fan and want to utilise the money they pay to cable suplier . so i decided to leave watching serial as i can't watch that they are making fun of pratap and forum i left because the way member uses abusive language ..I request all please this forum have members from all ages please do not abuse any one .😔

I appreciate your feelings dear friend. I cannot bear to see Maharana being insulted in anyway. To me he is my greatest hero ever. Best is to skip these shows as you did. And truth remains a truth, how much ever one may try to alter it- this is my own consolation.

I felt the same all the time and made many posts on it in past.

But finally left after all:mocking as well as butchery of story and poor choice of post leap actors.

I joined IF due to MP show's discussions only. But believe me! It failed completely after the leap. Firstly; a complete mismatch selection of grown up MP, even Pratap's servants were better then this choco boy. Grown up ajabde is a good choice , the actress is nice. Secondly; Story is ruined like anything, abhi tak to pratap ka beta amar singh 5-6 years ka hojana chahiye thaa, Amar singh was borned when Pratap was 19 aur in logo ne toh jaane kya kya seperation etc dikha diya lolz. They made mockery of such a royal story. Loosers! I Have no hopes left, because it is ruined beyond limits. Just hoping for its ending now, don't want them to show HaldiGhati war, because i know they will poke their manipulative nose in that as well. ^TM thanks for this post, i always wanted a post like this to vent out my anger ;)

I completely agree with you Debashree. It really hurts a history lover like me to see such manipulations in the story . They actually shifted their story & made it a big Saas bahu melodrama :(

The story is completely destroyed now and I have stopped watching it long back. They have made a joke about historical characters and even ruined Salima's character which wasn't appreciated. To some extent the separation track was OK IMO but now it's not. I don't believe in historical shows being shown for over a year as they tend to distort the facts to an extent of butchering characters as well. Earlier I supported this show as it was a bit worth watching till the characters weren't butchered beyond repair.

for the most part, simply indifferent towards whatsup with MP ie - acting, direction, writing now! everything anyway has gone for a toss..and dont even know when was the last time, I literally sat through an entire epi since October 14, have only watched it in bits and pieces..

I had been waiting for this war track and all I feel now is just shut off. When Pratap was not there at Chittor how could even think of a face off between the two. This is an important event both in Pratap and Akbar's life and enough details also available. Killing this is totally unacceptable.

Plus Akbar and pratap never came face to face in reality but here they meet each accidentally several times...and a face off between them never happened because obviously they never met...this track disappointing except the times they give good scenes which is 2 minutes a week
