Actually Sagar Singh also had an important role in that battle. While Jagmal was busy fighting ordinary soldiers,Shakti offered to keep Sagar with him during the battle as he was one of the younger brothers of pratap on Akbar's side. When Shakti decided to save Pratap and killed the 2 soldiers he ordered Sagar not to tell anybody that he is helping Pratap and he told him to help Pratap by making sure no other soldier comes to the path through which Pratap escaped.Sagar Fought bravely and killed 5-6 soldiers who tried to follow Pratap. There is even a painting showing the war in which Sagar is holding back 3 soldiers trying to follow Pratap in the royal palace of Udaipur.

(With the failure of efforts to negotiate a peace treaty in 1573, Akbar blockaded Mewar from the rest of the world and alienated Mewar's traditional allies, some of whom were Maharana Pratap's own kith and kin. Akbar then tried to turn the people of the all-important Chittor district against their king so they would not help Pratap. He appointed Kunwar Sagar Singh, a younger brother of Pratap, to rule the conquered territory, However, Sagar, regretting his own treachery, soon returned from Chittor, and committed suicide with a dagger in the Mughal Court.)

This has become pure fictions (that too lame one on logic part) ... I see many of the old members r still watching it...

Actually its the same with all so called historical shows... Creative liberties are gone over board... And those who love history, knows the facts will complain on such matters... As people with knowledge abt Indian Historical facts don't watch this show for King and his wives...

Show some bravery and logic... Btw, bravery doesn't mean Rajnikant styl action stunts...

I started watching MP in the first place cause I dont know much about MP history.. Even for someone like me, the Rao Surtan-Sakhaveer track seemed very far fetched and I quit it then...

Even though I joined back cause I liked Pratap and Ajabde track ( some creative liberty is acceptable to join up facts in History imo) its quite sad to see how much liberty has been taken in changing the chronology of events and in introducing twist and plots that have no basis in real past...

OK this is what i have read in text book
In 1567 Akbar (was 25 and Pratap 27) led 5000 elite mughal forces and laid a seige of Chittorgarh fort. Udai Singh was already warned by Shakti Singh a commander in mughal army of Akbar plan before few months. So he started building Udaipur city.

OK this seige went on for more than 6 months and once it was almost 6 months Akbar called in more army around 50000 Mughal forces. When Mewar royals found that they are going to lose they left fort(with Pratap) and went to Udaipur leaving Patta and Jaimal incharge of the war. Finally one day as patta was checking out some repair of fort Akbar took his gun and aimed at him and he was killed. This demoralized them and the women committed jauhar. Next day the mughal elephants numbering almost 5000 stromed the fort and broke open the gates followed by mughal cavalary. The rajpuths fought bravely and many mughal soldiers died so in anger Akbar ordered massacare of 30000 civilans of chittorgarh fort.

Then there was battle of haldighatti in 1576 led by man singh. Akbar did not come for war as he suffered epiliptic attack on hunt just before that. Salim was sent to battle instead at young age of 7. Here Shakti Singh helped Pratap escape the 4 Afghans who followed him out of battle field. Sagar Singh too helped him in this.

After this 3 more wars occured between mughals and partap army and everytime it was inconclusive as the rajputh army left war field before getting caught. Its called guirella warfare where you do surprise attack and run off before enemy attacks you. Vietanam defeated all powerful USA using this only.

After some years Akbar lost interest in Pratap and there was peace.

I hope the above description of Haldighati is correct.
But I think that there is no verified resource and everyone has their own versions.

That doesn't make much sense lol You are clearly liking one show more than the other
of course your statement is going to tilt with that show. I am not accusing you of any biases.
Just don't try to defend yourself on a baseless statement. The fact that Jodha Akbar was
mentioned in your post was proof enough.
