Look I am JA and MRP lover but comparing MRP with JA makes no sense to me because JA is a historical lovestory whereas MRP is a biography of a great fighter.
i differ here, JA is not historical, i will call it fictional for the way it is modified rather.
MRP is true story of a veer putra, here lies the difference

In initial days of new program the story should be fast paced and interesting to attract audience. Look in JA within 2 months the marriage even happened whereas people were expecting it not before 6 months
And in MRP the story in not moving a bit since weeks. And that makes it boring for me.
here i dont understand the thinking, are we watching true story of veers, or are we more bothered about spice elements??

Remember during the war how the TRPs climbed so high it was because of action and spice they added in it.
again it came, i just said dat spices will come only when they really were, will you love it if while showing ramayan they add spice elements of 3rd angle to mae ramayan interesting??? answer is NO, we want reality when it comes about history, not fake spicing

ANd I personally feel they should get MRP married now because an early age he was married and it would surely bring some more TRPs remember PRC.
i will repeat, it will happen when it really had happened, they dont need to speed up things and show fakeness, its our choice to accept truth or get bowed towards fakeness

Indians are barely aware of their history and our history has been messed up the way it is taught to us too!😡

Fact is that a show like MRP would have been a huge success in 80s or 90s but not now thanks to dumbing down of Indian audience by certain serials of some PHs, prominent among them being Balaji!

People care zilch about facts or values or culture. All they want now is masala! Even in movies we know what kind of movies break all records these days!🤢

I agree MRP needs to be marketed better, with stuff like hoardings, star interviews on SBS/SBB etc. Its quality of actors, script, sets and technical finesse are way superior to any other show on Indian television at present with exception of DKDM on Life OK.

I am just surprised that 10 PM is not even a very competitive slot, still MRP lags.😕

The story needs to move forward. Bhaatiyani keeps gossiping as usual and her truth is known yet she can't be exposed. Pratap falters or succeeds or take things in his own hands as usual. Everyone wants him killed or out of the way. The guru is way too strict and rather seems to have more of a nakhra and attitude than respect for discipline!

The show is boring of late.

Whereas the other show is basically only using historical names to peddle another love/affair/saas-bahu/nanad/baap-beti kind of story. It is no way related to history! The cast and technical quality may not be like MRP but Kekta has enough masala to fool people and keep them glued.

MRP also got great ratings when they showed the battle. After that it has been shaky and nowadays borders on being utterly boring. I don't say they should show action for the heck of it. But pace should be taken care of.

Waise Indians have obsession for foreign stuff is a known fact. Even plastic and talentless models are ruling Bollywood thanks to their white skin and firangi accent.

Indians are less aware of freedom fighters and social reformers. Only aware and in awe of invaders who marauded their country and bought women in name of marriage.

I love history very much though i m not from history background so i really dnt know how far they are right...I always believe if u show some historical / mythological series then please show only true facts there is no need of modification/ spicy addition in it...originality is always best but unfortunately most of the people forget it...😒
As i said i love history so one day i have tried to watch JA [I m not giving any comparison] but what i saw that's really depressing for me...i cant believe it...I dnt know much of Akbar [I cant say this on JA forum as everyone there loves it so much] but does he really like that ?? 😕 My idea was he respects woman but here how he treats Jodha, it seems he has no such respect to woman...[may be i am wrong] 😕
But i like Pratap what they show as i feel they don't go too much beyond facts at least till now...hope they will show like this only 😊

yes history has often been portrayed as boring subjects by our teachers even and shows are destroying the theme showing modified version 🤢

Fact is that a show like MRP would have been a huge success in 80s or 90s but not now thanks to dumbing down of Indian audience by certain serials of some PHs, prominent among them being Balaji!
you are right, initially the trend was decent, we had healthy shows but some shows like of balaji spoiled the custom, the shows are all about romantic saga, saas bahu masala or hate and revenge 😡 there is no intellect theme left!!!

People care zilch about facts or values or culture. All they want now is masala! Even in movies we know what kind of movies break all records these days!🤢

they should have marketed it by advertising, i agree advertisement part is so poor

I am just surprised that 10 PM is not even a very competitive slot, still MRP lags.😕
they should have opted other slot, usually people turn off the tv at 10 MRP would have been liked by mass if they chose more lively time slot

The story needs to move forward. Bhaatiyani keeps gossiping as usual and her truth is known yet she can't be exposed. Pratap falters or succeeds or take things in his own hands as usual. yes there are some flaws, but thing is they are showing true portrayal of pratap. he is like any other normal kid without super powers as they usually show in other shows.. a true history lover must love this series

The show is boring of late.
i wont call it boring, it is slow paced rather

Whereas the other show is basically only using historical names to peddle another love/affair/saas-bahu/nanad/baap-beti kind of story. It is no way related to history! The cast and technical quality may not be like MRP but Kekta has enough masala to fool people and keep them glued.
👏 👏 👏 very well said, other show neither has that elegence of historical backdrop nor i find the characters gluing, as they no more relate to the characters we know, adding all masala, love hate relation track, kitchen masala and other masalazz it is gaining interest of people, but all is chaar din ki chandini, i know she cant carry out these masala in historical show, historical show must give a msg and that is what MRP doing, so i love being fan of MRP than fake history shows, which boasts of history but are empty in within

MRP also got great ratings when they showed the battle. After that it has been shaky and nowadays borders on being utterly boring. I don't say they should show action for the heck of it. But pace should be taken care of.
you are right PACE is what which is needed here

Waise Indians have obsession for foreign stuff is a known fact. Even plastic and talentless models are ruling Bollywood thanks to their white skin and firangi accent.
👏 again bang on comment, just because actresses are firangi indians makes dem rule 🤢 even though they are talentl-less, wish mentality of ours changed

Indians are less aware of freedom fighters and social reformers. Only aware and in awe of invaders who marauded their country and bought women in name of marriage.
thats quality of mass who loves shows about such invaders... we cant devote time for true indian fighters but we have time to drool upon ones who devastated india 🤢

i appreciate your spirit that in spite of non historical background you are history lover and worshipper of originality, my salute for you 🤗
ahhh yes i too tried watching it and few things disappointed me
1. behavior of akbar, i too felt he was a nice man but watching it diluted everything and every respect i owned, Hritik in JA movie was such a genuine heart... here portrayal of akbar is done in bad light.. i dun like akbar if the things ekta is showing is true
2. akbar married jodha as kind of amer surrendered, i mean jodha's father is shown bechara, laachaar... had someone married me at sich circumstances i wouldnt have accepted that person ever, its better to accept death dan falling for a man who married you out of ur laachaari

i just wrote in a post copying dat here, its real trait of rajput princess do read ----

if we talk about bravery, rajputs can kill themselves but can't put their self respect on stake. I don't know if you all heard about rani padmini or not, alaudin khilji came to know about beauty of hers, he was anxious to keep the queen in his harem so went to raja ratan singh to allow him to look upon her beauty telling lie that he consider padmini as his sister. After seeing padmini, he got mesmerized to marry her and keep her in harem (as akbar felt for jodha) but unlike jodha, brave padmini didn't surrender, when alaudin khilji attacked the fort and entered palaces what he found was only ashes and bones of that brave lady. Padmini died but proved that woman isn't so weak to let her get used by someone for his lust.. My salute for such woman, seriels must be made on rani padmini to glorify her bravery, but they make shows on the woman who surrender themselves and embrace forced marriages. I feel proud our India has woman like Padmini

MRP is awesome show connecting us with reality
thumbs down for others who sell fake stories in name of history

@Pari

The 10 PM slot is not bad. Earlier shows like Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai have attained popularity in that slot only. That Pyar Ka Dard Hai show is also doing well in this slot.
Problem is slow paced story, lack of advertising and general dumbing down of our society due to which a show without masala and tadka finds it difficult to keep afloat.

They are confused with Pratap IMO. At times he is perfect and way wiser and daring beyond his age, and at times he is clumsy and overestimates himself, and underestimates the gravity of the situation. Pratap does not even look like an adolescent yet so that audience understands his confusion. Earlier he was a child prodigy for audience. Now he is just a confused or overconfident kid. And the worst part is that the so called Guru does not even guide him. He only scolds and punishes him. The Guru guy is not inspirational. He is not even a great actor to begin with. So it is irritating.

And for some time now, useless people like Shakti and Bhaatiyani are getting their own way, while Pratap and Jaywantabai get scoldings. So it becomes kind of frustrating.

Shams Khan was a crazy villain and even a sort of comic relief. The new assassin is a bore. He does not look as menacing as he ought to.

If the guru guides Pratap and actually makes effort to polish him rather than just punish him and put him down and if Pratap shines, then also it will be interesting.

Regarding the Kekta maiya show, I do NOT consider it a historical. Akbar must be turning in his grave if his spirit knew about this show and how it is portraying him.🤪 It's like he was totally evil and useless and even slimy till Jodha (who we do not know even existed or not!) made him "human"!🐷

But I have to say that show is promoted in a huge way and SBS/SBB/E24 have segments on it almost daily. While, MRP's promotion is very weak and next to nil! Even SP's yet to be launched Mahabharat has more publicity than MRP!

Nice topic & well said :D Liked reading all the comments as well :)

I really want to start watching this show. I never tried watching Jodha Akbar, bc I knew it'd be just like the movie, historically incorrect, which was then confirmed by many who watched the show, so I didn't bother.
I usually stick to reading about history. But after reading this post and comments, I've gotten interested in this show. I already have a love for history, especially Indian history & I'm a history major.
It's really sad that some Indian people look down upon their own nation and roots, and overhype foreigners. I mean we can observe this in many people in real life, in person or even in the entertainment industry, etc. of course there are many exceptions also, not everyone is like that. But just saying there is still far too many who do.

Looking forward to watching bharat ka veer putra- maharana pratap

Nice post nd liked to read different opinions.
I'm following this show since start. This show has a gr8 potential , the only prob is the PACE ... They shud speed up a little wid d story line

I agree Guru's role is not clear. He seems to b interested to punish than to polish his students. For example, 108 Suryanamskar at one go that too on a very first day of training without any previous practice of the same... I feel that was too much

Im not comparing but d similar training was shown in Chandragipta Maurya. There Acharya was strict but wasnt rude... CVs shud watch d videos of CGM which cud help here.

And yes, d marketing of this brilliant show has done on poor level. And for this channel is to b blamed. Today v have a trend JO DIKHTA HAI, WAHI BIKTA HAI... Y they r not promoting it, God knows.
Sony only promotes KBC nd Indian Idol. Which affects on their daily soaps. Sony TVs rankings were always low Bcoz of their this attitude or there cud b some probs in trp counting wid this channel...

Contiloe had produced many shows. They did gr8 at JKR times wid Zee tv.
Veer Shivaji was gr8 nd I personally loved it. Paras nd other actors were too good but just like Mp that show started loosing its viewers Bcoz of slow direction nd finally got scrapped...

I dont wanna see this happening wid Maharana Pratap . Actors r doing gr8 job on their part, here d responsibility lies wid PH nd Channel.

sim sis you here? 😲 just now i was checking my post and found this reply. Can't believe that you replied here 🤗 and as always ur comment has intellect class, i always expect right vision and thinking from you and you made it again. Only an heart who really values indian culture can think like this.. Otherwise people staying in india aren't much bothered abt their history, their culture... They can love masala sold in the name of history.. And the two shows are clear examples of that. But talking abt MRP i feel they made it pure historical story, you might not get fake entertaining spices but there is a simple sober story of how a child grows to such a great man mentioned in history with golden name. Its a very crude story so it is not attaining attention of large mass but it is true story.. And for history lover, its the best show to go for. I feel you must also give it a try, i may not keep you glued as it doesn't have fake chilly garnish but it promises to make you awake of brave indian faces who were never afraid to sacrifice themselves for their motherland. These shows are far better than watching parasitic rulers who took many things from india... Go for MRP. Its sweet <3
