Kanchi will be seen playing Suhana, the female lead in Bhabhi and has in fact, already started shooting for the show.
When Kanchi Kaul, the lead protagonist of Ek Ladki Anjaani Si left the show end of January this year, the audience wondered what happened to the beautiful actress.
Now after all these months Kanchi has decided to come back to television. She will be seen playing Suhana, the female lead in Bhabhi and has in fact, already started shooting for the show. "I liked the track and the story that's going to develop within the next few months. Also the fact that it's one of the most popular shows which has been running for the past six years, it was viable in all respects," says Kanchi.
But considering that Rucha Gujarathi had been playing the role for so long and before that, it was Dolly Sohi, did she not have any qualms about stepping into somebody else's shoes? "From what I know, the person doing the role before me had already quit the show a week or two back, so it's not like I'm taking away somebody else's role. I can't do that because it's wrong," she says. Kanchi insists there are no complications at all. "It will be a great challenge for me to do a role which was being playing by somebody else earlier as the show already has a fan base. But I'm sure people will accept me as I have a little streak of luck when it comes to the audience," she adds with a smile.
When she left Ek Ladki... there had been some bad blood between her and the makers of the show, who had claimed that she was unprofessional. Has she moved on from there? "Oh yes I've definitely moved on," says Kanchi, adding, "If any of those claims which were made at that time were true, I would not have got any offers to work again. One should just be true to yourself and let things fall in place on their own."
It's been almost eight months that one last saw her in a soap. What was she doing all this while? "Well, when I stopped working, I really wanted to take a nice long break. After which, I did a few commercials. And now with this serial, everything just fell into place," says Kanchi. And for the moment, she is only concentrating on this one show.
"If you're playing the lead in a daily show, it leaves you no scope for doing anything else. Let this start and then we'll see how it goes," she says.
