Saumya Tandon aka Anita from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai reacts to Shilpa's insecurity remarks

Vijaya Tiwari | TNN | Mar 17, 2016, 09.20 PM IST
Shilpa Shinde aka Angoori from 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai' recently made some shocking revelations after she decided to part ways from the show. The actress has alleged that her co-stars from 'BGPH' are insecure of her. Shilpa's co-star Saumya aka Anita from the same show has finally opened up about the entire controversy.

"It came as a surprise for all of us. Shilpa never discussed her problems with us. All we knew that she stopped coming for the shoot. There is no question of harassment or torture on the sets. We all come, work, pack-up on time and the facilities are also good here. She never spoke to us about any of her problems. We had nothing to do with matter. I don't understand why our name was dragged into the entire controversy," said the actress.

Saumya added, "I feel when an actor signs a contract or they are hired, they should abide by the terms and conditions. One can't just randomly stop coming for the shoot. There is always a procedure to leave the show. I don't think one should stop coming for their shoots at once."

When asked about getting preferential treatment on the sets of 'Bhabhiji... the actress said, "At the beginning of the show when I signed the contract, I had made it clear to the producers that I will manage my own designer and make-up. The producers were very sweet and very gracefully they agreed to this condition. This is also mentioned in my contract. From that day onwards my costume and make-up was my responsibility. Post signing the contract the producers never bothered if I wore a Rs 2 costume or a Sabyasachi designer wear. It became my headache. I had made this very clear before coming on board for the show. So the question of preferential treatment does not arise. It was always mentioned in my contract. This was the only thing I asked for from my producers. Post this I haven't demanded anything from the producers."

On being asked about not standing up for Shilpa and taking a stand, the 'Jab We Met' actress said, "Standing up for what? The 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai' set is the most happy place to be at. In the past one year we have never faced any kind of problem. We are always seen having fun, joking around on the set. I would like to say, our producer Benaifer Kohli is the most professional lady. I don't know what has gone wrong between Shilpa and her. I can't comment as I don't know anything about the entire controversy. Whatever wrong has happened, I feel things can be resolved by talking it out. When a show becomes popular, the entire team is credited for it. From writers, actors to technicians everyone contributes equally for the show's success. I feel the responsibility is more on actors as people associate us with the shows. We are the face of the show for them. So when one of the primary characters goes missing from the show, the entire show suffers. I hope Shilpa understands this and comes back to the BGPH."

How does she reacts to Shilpa's allegation of insecurity, "It is very sad that our names have unnecessary got dragged into this. Passing such personal comment on co-stars is in very bad taste. Aasif Sheikh has a decade long career and Rohitashv Ji has great body of work as well. I have also been in this industry for last 10 years. I am shocked Shilpa has such things to say about us. It would be below my dignity to comment on Shilpa's insecurity remarks. It is a very petty allegation," said Soumya.

When asked, if the equation between them will change if Shilpa comes back, "I am very professional. I took this project not because of any personal reason. I picked up the character as I had full faith in the writers and for monetary reasons. The show is bigger for me than any of us. She is most welcome on the sets and I have no qualms about it."

Saumya seems to be a lot more sorted and mature.. She spoke all the facts without demeaning Shilpa.. And the most important was that the show will suffer so as the viewers!! Whereas Shilpa is not at all bothered esp for the fans who gave her so much love bcos of this show!!

I have started following the show only very recently aur yahan itna bada controversy aa gaya hai.
Shilpa kept saying in the beginning that the earlier actress who was supposed to play Angoori left midway, and "she came to the rescue" of the makers. That may be the case, but the tone of her statement seems disturbing. What does that mean?

Does she feel that she is doing a big obligation on the production house by playing Angoori?

Is she basically trying to say that there was basically no real need for her (on her own part) to be associated with the show in the first place???

Don't actors themselves need work to survive in this industry? So, why does she feel that she "came to the rescue" jaise ki usne show aur viewers par upkaar kiya hai? Kyaa voh sochti hai ki usey khud ko Angoori ke role ki koi zaroorat hi nahin thi? Is that the reason why she joined this show - simply to show how "mahaan" she is by "coming to the rescue" of the PH? Itna arrogance?

Or, does she think her only job in this industry is simply to "come to the rescue" of PHs when other actors leave midway for whatever reason?

The fact that she utters such statements only means that she feels sab log usko sar par chadhaa kar baithe simply because the other actress left abruptly, and she she got cast in the role.

Also, having problems with your workplace is one thing but why badmouth your colleagues - that too, people who are much more experienced than you? What does that speak of you?

The fact that Saumya Tandon has a completely different version of the state of things, and her mature responses to the controversy only show the differences between the two individuals.

If Shilpa wanted to quit the show for reasons such as the the character becoming too predictable and repetitive, that would've been a different issue. But such immature behaviour coming out in public...

Exactly, it is this arrogance of hers that has now turned this beautiful show into an ugly fight offscreen!! Really feeling bad for the show and its team!!

Also I don't know if Rashmi Desai was a part of the show before as I heard that she was approached for the role but refused to do it.. And then Shilpa took it up.. But yes she did badmouth Rashmi too for not doing it..
