I am glad Arjun vented out his anger for the first time but like u said he should have done this long ago. So that Maya realised early on that everyone would not be happy to be an object of her affection and Vandana realised her son is no longer a child who needs protection and scrutiny all the time. I cannot agree to the fact that Arjun has only been Dusky's Duffer. The only moment where he was truly her duffer was when Prem died and had he not, he would have surely failed as a friend on all grounds. Prem was not only Saanjh's dad but he had also been a father figure to Arjun. When Maya tried to ascertain her rights on him, he had no choice but to tell her that in that moment he was Dusky's Duffer and for once he did the right thing. Just because a person is married, doesn't mean that all their other relationships take a backseat everytime. Depending on situations, priorities change but Maya being the unstable woman she is could not understand that. It wasn't like she couldn't live without Arjun for one day. She stooped even low for me when she tried to stop Arjun from going to the funeral. If anything Arjun has been one thing for most of the four years of his life and that is Maya's obsession. He didn't stand by his mother despite seeing how she is being tortured. He knew Vandana was tortured by Maya, his 6th sense had told him that but yet he chose to protect his mad wife. He knew his brother had come after to rescue him and OK lets say seeing Maya's condition he believed right away that she was violated. But did he for once give his brother the benefit of doubt? He knew how conniving and manipulative his wife was, yet he stood by her. Had he stood by her after seeing the tape I would still get it but his accusation against his brother was cemented the moment he laid his eyes on Maya. He very well knew Maya was capable of inflicting wounds on herself. Not once did he spare to think maybe Maya could have done it this time too and accused his brother falsely. Even here he became Maya's Arjun. When Saanjh tried to expose Maya he believed Maya despite the fact that his own conscience warned him about Maya all the time. He overlooked all the relationships in his life to protect Maya. So how was he a Ma da ladla, dusky's duffer or a protecting older brother to Ayan? But yes having said this, I would say that he only half heartedly did everything in his life. Had he really given himself to Maya, he would have helped her deal with her insanity not when matters got worse, but from the time he got into a relationship with her. Arjun couldn't see beyond his own share of problems. Half of him was wallowing in self pity for being Maya's prisoner and the other half was trying to shield Maya. Had he opted the latter whole heartedly matters would have been different today, so would Maya too.
