Well..Well..Well...today's episode just threw open a whole new possibility about who's playing whom...

So Arjun in an inebriated state almost confesses that he is with Maya for the money and power. Ayan asked him if he actually loved Maya and his response was that he loved, he loved a lot. And then goes on to add that whatever is Maya's is his and whatever is his is Maya's.
The fact that he said these 2 sentences together makes me think that when he said that he "loved" he was not referring to her but her money and wealth. If you see the way the dialogue was structured he din't say "I love her a lot". He said "I love, love a lot" and then the other dialogue about whatever was hers is his.

This to me looks like a clear indication that at least right now Arjun is with Maya for the money. This is not a documentary where we are looking at peoples real life situations. While IRL one can argue that Arjun did not mean it and was just acting to look cool in the w.r.t this being show this argument does not make sense unless the CVs actually explicitly show that he din't mean it.
The fact that they actually wrote a scene like this and had Arjun say those dialogues means that there is a purpose for that scene and its not just there for the heck of it. The fact that they showed Ayan actually asking him if he loved her was again to press the fact that he very well might not.

So there can be only 3 reasons for them showing something like this.

1. If Arjun really did not mean it, the fact that he said like this will at some point come back to bite him. Maybe someone who was present in the party will tell someone else abt this and it will finally reach Maya making her believe that Arjun was just playing with her for money. This might unleash the psycho Maya who will set out to destroy him for betraying her.
2. If Arjun did mean it then it means that while we all thought Maya was the one manipulating Arjun it might very well be the other way round and she is the one being manipulated by him.
3. Arjun might not have meant this and will confess everything (not abt getting drunk or dancing but about claiming that he loved her for money) to Maya tomorrow and apologies to her. Not sure what the purpose of this is but maybe to show that he is keeping his vow and truly loves her or something.

If its either of the first 2 options I see an Arjun-Maya face-off in the future.

Whatever is the actual reason for the scene, I think its getting really interesting now and I really want to see how they take the forward.

Thoughts?

The first one seems about right. A lot of people are saying that Arjun did all of this to get maya's money but I don't seem to agree with them because it was Maya who approached (proposed) him first. I actually don't want Maya to get betrayed especially because she has a harsh past.

I also doubt whether Arjun is really a duffer or not. A duffer can never scheme to the extent Maya can. I think Saanjh & Maya are going to be the endgame. I don't think Saanjh will accept Arjun not for the self-respect but for his greed for money.

This scene is like a prequel of some future track. I go with the second option because in beyhadh, no one is sane, everyone is shaded so Arjun becoming negative (grey) is quite a possibility. Not saying he will forever stay like that, he may turn grey for sometime and return back to normal later on.

u r points are so valid. plus the way he advised ayan to hitch rich gf n acquire her position gave me negative vibe. tonite he will confess n probably give 6th vachan. today 's epi will give clear pic. but u feel this incident is not just filler.

It was Maya who proposed to him first but its possible that he never thought of this till she proposed to him. Maybe the whole thought of marrying her and getting her money only came to him once he saw that she was madly in love with him and was ready to go to any extend for him. Plus the business class seats, the Mauritius trip, 5 star hotel etc could have shown him what he would have in his life if he accepted Maya's love.

But I agree, Arjun turning out to be douche bag would be such a big bummer for Maya's character. It would be great for the story but so bad for her character who has already never seen love in her life before. It would make everyone root for her even more and no one would actually fault her for anything that she does against Arjun. It would make Arjun a complete antagonist as, while Maya has a strong reason for being her insecure, manipulative self, Arjun has no valid reason other than greed for manipulating her and that makes him a much bigger "villain" in my eyes as compared to Maya.

If at all its true that Arjun is after her money then its more likely that he played along willingly with all that was happening and less likely that he planned everything. So it may not be that the whole thing was his plan but rather that once he saw that Maya had fallen for him and he could get all this wealth and money he just decided to tag along.

Arjun as far as we have been shown till now is definitely not as big of a master manipulator like Maya, so most likely if he does decide to play games with her , he is going to burrrnnn.

And if all this is true then I don't think any one couple will be end game. Assuming they are all alive in the end, Arjun will probably remain alone either repenting for his actions or probably heartbroken because he lost both the woman he started falling in love with (Maya) and the women who was his best friend (Saanjh). Saanjh will probably break all ties with Arjun if she knows that he married Maya for money because she has been a pretty morally conscious character till now and will end up with some other nice guy. Maya depending on how severe her actions will be will either end up in an asylum or jail or maybe end up alone but as a reformed person.

There is something off about Arjun and his love for Maya. Can't quite put my finger on it yet but all that he said at the party did seem like an indication of his grey shades.

I know what you mean...there have been many scenes where I have not really been sure about why he is saying or doing something,... and I was confused if it was because of Kushal's bad acting or because of the way the character was written and the way he was supposed to behave...

You know something just struck me...In Mauritius just after Saanjh lands there and before Arjun proposes to Maya there was a scene between Saanjh and Arjun on the phone. I think Saanjh calls him and Arjun tells her something like " the thing he was looking for all along and what he had always wanted was right in front of him and he never realized it." The phone disconnects after that so they are not able to complete the conversation. Saanjh obviously thought he was referring to her and that he had realized that he loved her. We thought he was referring to his love for Maya.

What if he was actually referring to Maya's wealth and the fact that he had actually found the ladder to power, success and money, that he was always looking for. 🤔 I know its far fetched but now in hind sight putting everything that happened in the last 2 episodes and this together, I wonder if that scene was put in as a clue that he actually decided to propose to her for all the perks that came with her.

Yeah, agree with you. It could be that he was reflecting upon the fact that here was a super wealthy woman, totally crazy about him, and that he wasn't going to get a better opportunity than this to fulfil his dreams.
