Ok, so tonight was a Mayra-Licious episode - with some inputs of Mrityunjay and Ananya. But a well-balanced episode.
Fight Club - So to me, the fight club scene resonated as Maya's fight with her past and Rudra's fight for his future. Maya wanted to inflict pain on Rudra, to ease the trauma of the assaults she suffered. And Rudra was taking assaults so that he does not lose to Mrityunjay Roy. Honestly, those flashes were terrible. How can someone behave so monstrously with someone? No wonder Maya has become what she is today. After Rudra's butchered condition gives some ease to her tormented heart, she stops the fight. One, because she got what she wanted and two, well we need to go ahead with Maya's game plan. So when Rudra thinks he lost it all, that is when Ananya calls him with the good news. And again we see Rudra's victory has led to Maya's victory - because she has chosen who will be her weapon/pawn in her battle. This part is also important because, it shows Maya's own internal conflict - one with her past, and second her choice. As she puts it across, Iss raaste pe chalna meri marzi nahi thi, par yeh raasta hi ab meri marzi hai.
Maya and Nandini - This scene is important only for one reason. Nandini is reading the Gita, which shows that Gita is something that runs common in the family. It also shows that Maya has always idolized Krishna - something which her mom has inculcated in her. But there is only one difference. People see one thing from different POVs. Similar to that, Maya and Nandini interpret the shloka according to what they believe it means to them. Nandini accepts the literal translation of the shloka - but Maya interprets that same Shloka based on her experiences. The trauma, pain, and agony have changed the meaning of that shloka in her POV, but it hasn't changed in Nandini's POV. Both mother and daughter have been through a lot. But Nandini is holding onto every strand of goodness and positivity she can. However, Maya has done quite the opposite. She has absorbed the darkness and negativity she has received, and now giving it back in plenty. Also, one more thing that stands out is Maya's belief in Krishna. She has been through so much because of him, and now it is because of him, she is on this path. So whatever he gives to her - it is after all "prasad" only.
Mrityunjay's paranoia - So I have a lot to say about Mrityunjay today. Today, I felt that he was at the tip of open and desperate paranoia. He is controlling to the point of a chokehold. He does not want anyone or anything to come between his children. Today, it seemed that he was at the brink of almost strangulating Ananya. Ananya drew the line between her loyalty for Rudra and affection for Mrityunjay. To Mrityunjay, he has this circle of trust thing going on, where only limited people are allowed, and to whom he is genuinely nice. He does not want anyone to interfere or breach that circle of trust and he also wants to control everyone in that circle of trust. Ananya is a passage or gateway for Mrityunjay to gauge into Rudra's life. Whatever happened in the past has led Rudra to close all doors to Mrityunjay - which has led to a slip in control over Rudra. Ananya is possibly the only way he can know. If Ananya too closes the door - it means Mrityunjay has to walk in blind in this section of his circle. And how can he do that? He cannot lose control and he cannot be blind here. And that is how we see for a moment the mask slip off from Mrityunjay where he is looking at Ananya with a somber smile when Ananya assures him of background check on Maya and when he turns around, the mask slips off and we get a small preview of the control freak that he is.
Maya and Rudra - Both of them are rather unaware of how similar they are in their ways and their perceptions - both are broken, both are hurt, both are in pain, both don't want to lose control in life and both do not take or cannot forget humiliation and take their self-value being targetted.
Maya is Rudra's new writer and also an investor. Where Rudra anticipated that he will have the upper hand with Maya on board, Maya turned the table on him. And like the wolf in Red Riding Hood, Rudra huffed and puffed and walked out of his own ex-office. But Maya wasn't too far behind. Even though Maya is playing a game, with Rudra, her game never goes the way she wants it to. Rudra is a difficult person, and he always does the opposite of what she wants. Rishi is easy to fish - he obeys her like a lovesick puppy. But Rudra and obeisance do not go with each other. Rudra understands equality. So Maya always has to come down of her high horse and explain to him her moves. So she does. She explained to him what she admires in a person the most - commitment, loyalty and passion. For Maya her books are a mirror to her bruised and battered soul, she is very intense with it. So she longs for a person who matches her in that way. Her fish test was to see how committed he is to sell her books, even when he is stuck in contentious situation, her building test is to see how loyal he is - whether he will safeguard himself or her when facing adversity and 3rd test - was a test of passion to sign Maya for his company. To me, tonight's conversation between both Maya and Rudra, was the 1st decent conversation with each other - because they did not put each other down, but Rudra was listening to Maya and Maya was explaining her POV to Rudra. And, another thing that stood out was Maya's desperation (a little) to have Rudra onboard, so she can move ahead in her anti-Roy campaign. Maya has no idea what she is getting into. She may appear all smug all the time, but somewhere in her subconscious, she knows that Rudra is not the Roy she hates. She can put up a facade all she likes, but Rudra is someone who she may come to respect as a person and as a man who is authentic and honest.
Precap: Well till now, all precaps have been true. Mrityunjay has played out his move. He has heard of Maya Jaisingh, but he has never seen her, and he wants to pull off the curtain of mystery from her. Rudra rushes to do damage control, but what is important, is Maya prepared for this? Will Rudra manage the situation in the nick of time or will Maya? Have to wait for the next episode.
That's me finished with my rambling, now it's your chance to do sođ
