Amit Behl probably has taken the recent reports about him coming drunk at the sets of Paraya Dhan, a bit too seriously, for this has taken a huge toll on his health. He has been admitted at Kulkarni Hospital in Jogeshwari, due to stress and depression, because he suddenly collapsed in the midst of some important work. Amit has been advised to remain in the hospital for a minimum of three days. But inevitable shooting demands for his show Mamta will require him to shoot.

"We as actors understand the producer's loss when the shootings don't take place on time. The show must go on. I should be fine in some time," says a feeble Amit. When asked about him being sacked from Paraya Dhan, Amit said, "I couldn't imagine who had the audacity to say that I came drunk on the sets and I was thrown out from Paraya Dhan. I have been in this industry long enough to maintain a level of professionalism. The reason I am no longer there in the show is because they were confused how to place my character, in terms of my looks. In fact, the producers of the show personally called me up and apologised."

Close friends in the industry, including the director and supervisor of Paraya Dhan, have also expressed outrage at the whole incident. Partho Mitra, the director of Paraya Dhan, says, "I am upset about the whole issue because it holds no authenticity. Amit started off his career with me, and I know him very well."
