@shruthiravi -- as someone who has consumed hundred of mills and boons as well as watched lots of romance dramas (in other languages), would say that people are afraid of love but how it is expressed is different. the books and dramas range from excellent to stupid. for me, the romance in most indian movies fall short because it is almost always love at first sight and the love shown is similar to that of teenagers. so the conflict are the parents and society who oppose it... but with love between adults, sometimes, biggest obstacle is simply ourselves and in the modern times, it seems even more so. we see it everywhere. also, as adults, it takes us longer to fall in love. we don't necessarily just immediately feel a love connection...so it is nice to see aditya and zoya fight love not because of parents or society but because of themselves. with yash and pooja, both aditya and zoya fell in love with as children/college. so they were younger and everything seemed so clear cut. but now they both have baggage, vulnerabilities and are adult. the process is going to be harder. do they want to change their life? are they happier being single? can they be brave enough to let their walls down and let someone in. sometimes, it takes more courage to be weak and to show that we need someone and it is easier/more cowardly to be strong.

Yes Gone with the Wind I have also read. It has a very angst ending, so is Charles Dickens Tale of two cities.
The other book I liked was Danielle Steel's Promise. Though some first four parts are a bit cliche, if you can withstand that it gives a emotionally satisfying love story.

I have read Tale of two cities.. how did forget to mention it. I also liked his Great Expectations, though it is not exactly a romance novel. I haven't read Danielle Steel's Promise.. now that you suggest I might give it a try.
