When Sid says something to her, yes, she does speak up for herself. But why is it that when Som or Somoresh, or even Tess for that matter, exploit her and in the same breath insult her, she has nothing to say?☢️

I understand Somoresh is a "gurujon" and you must respect him, by virtue of societal norms. But to what extent? How can you stay quiet when you know you are being used and abused? And what about Som and Tess? Som has not left one chance to belittle Mithai, but somehow I seem to have missed all dialogues (if any😡) that Mit has said in rebuttal. And absolutely the same applies to Tess. I only see Mit run behind Tess saying "didimoni didmoni". 🤢

If you value your self-respect, without being rude or disrespectful you can definitely stand up. The question is, how much does she value her self-respect?❓

********** END OF OUTRAGEOUS RANT *************

I agree to disagree! We can see, maybe not a stark, but a small (ok not so small) difference in Mithai's outlook towards her self-respect after marriage.

In the initial episodes, Mithai has been portrayed as a sweet and bubbly girl (acc. to wiki baba and zee kaku smiley8) who call-ed a spade a spade. She never used to bear any kind of insults, be it the infamous Didimoni, Dadababu or be it Mrs. Roy.

According to some rules laid by the society (smiley29), the girls need to fulfill all the needs of her new family. They are expected to be silent and well, muk buje shob sojjo kore nite. Now I'll tell you a real life experience. Mom and I were talking one day and somehow we stumbled upon a topic which made her reply to my question with this answer - Even your Didabhai (maternal grandmother) told me to stay silent and 'sosurbari' te karor mukher upor kono kotha na bolte.

I gave her a you've-got-to-be-kidding-me look! Though she did say the truth but I couldn't help myself thinking "That's some saas-bahu serial shit bro... aisa koun karta hai?" (dw, didn't say it out loud, I would've never heard the end of it smiley37)

So coming back to the topic - Mithai, after her marriage, has been humiliated and literally forced to conform with the norms of this so called 'bhodro' society. She's been made to feel so low about herself at every step of her new life that she's lost whatever confidence she had in herself. Could you ever think that the girl who didn't think twice before giving a befitting reply to the kinds of Torsha, and even Somoresh at times, everytime they questioned her about her poor upbringing and lack of 'degrees', is now holding herself back just because she doesn't fit into this classy, high-standard 'somaj' and isn't considered jogyo of Sid? She didn't need their validation before, why now?

Because of these bulls**t rules laid by the society!

Mithai, as much as she may try to control herself, she can't and Mr. Siddhartha Modak's hot and cold behaviour isn't helping her situation either (I don't know about @sidhai_lovebirds but I'm sure as hell ready with a haturi to knock some sense into this hotochara). She believes in love and marriage, and she can't help but fall in love with Sid for whatever reason it might be. And as Soniya di said, she expects certain things from him, like every wife expects from her husband. She can say things to him because well she loves him, a lot, but she can't to the others.

I don't know about Mithai losing her self-respect, but I'm pretty sure that she's lost herself in this mess. And thanks to Sid, she's arranging the pieces of her broken self back, but the question that now arises is - what about her shattered heart?

While I agree largely with you, there is one idea that I do not agree with and that is that Mithai says things to him she loves him. I think she said things to Sid much before she fell in love with him. She can expect things from him, fine. But if those expectations are not met, should she not meet them herself? Isn't that what self-respect is about?

I also disagree with her having lost faith in herself. Even during the Chitoi pithe event, she had an idea and stuck by it (I know in this case others, included Somoresh, supported but in multiple instances in the past she has shown that she believes in herself and her abilities). It is just that, she believes she is not a "jogyo" match for Sid. Yes society has enforced rules upon her and while she conforms to most of them she keeps the capability to rebel and SHE SHOULD.

Keeping quiet while Som and Tess hurl insults at you? No, society is no excuse.

Red - Yes in the initial episodes, Mithai was fierce.. She wanted to file a police complain against that Lokhai gunda coz he wanted to marry her forcibly.. She gave back to Tess n Reboti n even said something like - "Mithai doesn't pleads people who doesn't value her" to one of Somoresh's insults..

Blue - Mithai's mother too advised her to impress her in-laws (mukh buje)

Orange - There's a saying if you say a lie enough, it is accepted as truth.. Similar thing happened with Mithai.. She isn't Sid's jogyo has been told to her repeatedly by Somoresh, Som, Tess n even Pipi, Dadai, Thammi repeatedly had asked Mithai to become Sid's jogyo.. Now she has started to believe this.. The only person who doesn't believe this is Sid himself..

Purple - 🤣🤣 Not just you or @sidhai_lovebirds, many fans wants to do the honor 😂😂😂

Green - Wasn't me 🤭 @shivay23 (sorry dear, dunno your name yet) said those words.. But I agree, Mithai do have some expectations from Sid..

Read on IG that upcoming twist would be Mithai going to Haltu for sweet delivery n Rudy would be there with police force to capture some mafia gang..

I just hope they won't show any cliche scenes like Mithai getting shot n then Sid realizes that he loves her... That would be super disappointing 🙄
