Dedicated to all my friends for being so tolerant and patient. I am suffering through a very bad phase of writer's block..but then, sitting and brooding won't help either. And most importantly this is dedicated to our dear Mr. Arora who never fails to beguile me..and most recently his amazing performances in KKK6 has left me charged and motivated J So here is the first chp..I know its crappy..but anyways..
CHAPTER 1 MATTER OF TIME
"Tum bahar thi?"
Zain was sitting on the bed,his back resting against the stck of pillows lined up against the headboard.
"Haan.."her voice was a treacle "Zain..I.."
He looked up from the bright -glowing screen of his i-phone,she was standing in front fo him, with her saree clinging onto her lithe frame, the rain drop trickling down from the tip of her hair and disappearing into the unchartered territories of her body.
"I'm sorry I didn't want to disturb you..I j-just wanted to sa that I'm sorry.."
"For what?"
"I couldn't refuse Dad..jab unhone mujhse-ek akhri baar ke liye kuch manga..."
"Dad ne tumse kya kaha?"
"unhone kaha ki main itne dino se..ek bahu hone ki farz nibha rahi thi..and it's time..ki main ek biwi hone""
She was cut short."biwi? So are you planning to renege our deal,ms. Haider?"
His words splinter inside her. A little pang . A small one . So small that it might have gone unnoticed had she not been paying attention to the raging storm within her.
"No...Zain..Its just a matter of time. Main bauhat jaldi hi tumhare zindagi se.. "she stopped to take a long drag of the air."I know that -we are n-ot going to-try,especially when we know how..its going to-end..and its not like we are going to -fall in l-love or- or something like th-that..Soo you can keep your worries a-asie Mr. Abdullah, because I won't break my end of the deal..At the end of these three weeks..you'll give me the firs -talaaq..so its just 21 days until then..util everything will happen the way it was planned from the very beginning.."
"It's 20 days..not 21 Ms. Haider.."
"oh-yea.."
"We have been playing this game for 6 months..I think we can manage for few more days.."he stopped waiting for her repartee, which never came. "While you were out..I checked the other rooms ..all of them are locked except ours..Dad made a full-proof plan before sending us here.."he sighed.
"Don't worry Zain..I'll sleep on the couch..in the living room.."
"No..tu-tum yahi par so sakt ho.."
"You don't have t compromise for me...I'm already indebted to you for""
"You're not. It was nothing but a deal..and we have kept our ends of it.."

(8 months back)
Truth hurts. But reality hurts eve more. And the reality was that her mother was dead. Dead as in Shabana Ghulam Haider would never wake up again. She would never call her Aloo' again. No one would wipe away her tears or pull her into a hug, when she would wake up at night, sweating because of a nightmare. No one would braid her hair again or even ask her how her day went.
She was alone-completely lonely in this mercurial world, where she barely knew anyone. She was alone and scared. She had tried to save her, even if I meant sacrificing her life and future, for her dying mother. And she did it,but then she was not the only one in it.
She had Zain Osman Abdullah, with her. Zain Osman Abdullah, the CEO of Abdullah Enterprises which he had inherited from his father Osman Abdullah, a genial old man, who had resorted to an early retirement. Zain's mother was after him, showering him with pictures of prospective brides every day, to the point of driving him insane.
And that is here their mutual understanding began. Aaliya Ghlam Haider needed monetary support..while he wanted a girl, who would agree to marry him on certain terms,to be specific for six months and within those six months they would prove their incompatibility, paving way for an annulment or talaaq.
And he liked to believe that his mother won't pester him to get married right after a failed marriage...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a marriage of convenience. An agreement had been inked out between them in a layers office a week before. In casual clothing they arrived at the registry office. The certificate was just a contract to them and it lay cold on the table of the registrar.
CLAUSES: It was a contract marriage, signed for a period of 6 months beginning from the day of signing this document.
2. The period can be extended or even reduced,as the parties may deem fit. If so happens, a new contract will have to be drawn ,with ew set of rules.
3. Both the parties have agreed to refrain from any form of physical relationship, agreeing on the terms that this marriage is only due to circumstances.
4. this contract is a commitment, but not the marriage. If either wishes to maintain relationship with other individualshe or she will be free to do so,the other party won't object to it.
5. After the annulment of this contract,Ms. Aaliya Ghulam HAider will not be entitled to any of Mr. Zain Osman Abdullah' s property.
66. Any allegations against Mr. Abdullah or his family members/blackmailing/or use of any such resorts to tarmish his/their reputation/ Malign someone's character will be deemed as an offence and the offender will be held guilty in the court of law...

She was sitting in a hall filled with shimmering lights and jubiliant people with beaming smiles, waiting for her to drop the two sacred words from her lips..They were looking at her expectantly. The happiness in their eyes evident. At last Zain Abdullah, the most eligible bachelor in town, who had vowed never to fall in love, never to marry, was waiting for the beautiful woman across the room to say Qubool Hai"
When Aaliya looked up at him,her view jarred by the embellishments of the veil, she ahd hoped to find some sort of reassurance in his warm brown eyes, but there was nothing but a haunting cold glare, that only she could comprehend, a chilled silence that hung from the ceiling of one of the rooms in the Abdullah Enterprises' building.
"Aaliya Ghulam Haider, kya aapko Zain Osman Abdullah se yeh nikaah qubool hai?"
"Aloo..tu-tu..mu-mujhse wada kar..ki tu..apna khyal rakhegi..Ki tu..Zain ka khyal rakhegi.."
She turned around..he was standing at the door..leaning against the doorframe.
"Ki tu..usse beintehaa mohabbat karegi.."
"Aaliya Ghulam Haider kya aapko Zain Osman Abdullah se yeh nikaah qubool hai?"
"Mrs.Haider..Zain Osman Abdullah ka ap se wada hai..I'll always keep her happy..she'll be fine Mrs.Haider..."
"This is just a contract Ms. Haider..please don't expect anything more from it.."
"This is MY LIFE Aaliya..so I'll decide how I wanna love it..Tum mere liye ek aajnabi ho..aur hamesha rahogi..."
"Aaliya Ghulam Haider, kya aapko Zain Osman Abdullah se yeh nikaah qubool hai..."
"Qubool hai..."

There are two paths. The right and the left. Both look the same. But the outcome is different. Choices cannot be undone. Once chosen, can never be chosen again. The road is broken. It cannot be walked again. Once the road has been trodden, it shall disappear. You can pick one, but you cannot pick both.
