I know there have already been a few reviews on the episode so I'll try to keep this one as brief as possible, but I do have a few things to say so please bear with me.
Firstly, what I least appreciate about Indian television is when a show's creatives realise that the audience is not liking a track so they rush the ending, simply to get it over and done with and start something new. I don't believe that was the case with our CVs as they basically dedicated two episodes to wrapping this all up. In saying that, however, I do believe that there was something lacking in the conclusion of this track, and that was ZaYa's charm.
It makes complete sense for Rehan to expose Zubair in front of everyone, because he is a lawyer and he knows what manner to present the truth in, so that wasn't a problem. What was a problem though was the fact that Zain did not say a single word in defense of Aliya prior to and even after Rehan's entrance, and I wish he had. Aliya has always said that Zain is her superhero and the fact that her superhero just stood there without saying a single word to protect her did break my heart. Even if it was just a sentence, just a phrase supporting his wife, I wish he had said something, anything. Why? Because the essence of Zain and Aliya's relationship has always been that they have never needed another person to play cupid for them. Their relationship has evolved and strengthened because of Zain and Aliya themselves. No matter who supported them prior to it, they themselves climbed the mountains and jumped the hurdles. So, my point is, that although it was logical for Rehan to expose the case to everyone, Zain, Aliya's superhero, should have been the one defending his wife, because he loves Aliya and trusts her inextricably.
I really do hope we get a follow-up ZaYa scene in the next telecast. A proper conversation would be nice, discussing Zain's fear of losing Aliya when she hadn't come home and what exactly he was feeling when Aliya was being accused. I don't think the CVs should leave it up to the audience to interpret Zain's feelings through his expressions. I really do think we need a scene to clarify everything but all we can do is wait and watch.
Moving on to Zubair. Okay, I really do I hate him but what he said before he left; I loved it. Suraiya's character is so disgusting it makes me want to cringe. I know many of us think that if Zubair had said everything perhaps earlier on in the episode then more of the Abdullah family would have believed him, but I feel like the CVs didn't want this because they are trying to build the situation to a point when Zain will feel completely compelled to burst Suraiya's bubble and remind her of the role Aliya plays in his life. Yes, the expression on everyone's face did look like they were doubting Suraiya, which Shazia (ugh, Shazia... but that's another story) confirmed a little later by saying that no one stood up for her. It did irritate me a little that Aliya asked Zubair to apologise to Suraiya, but what filled me with more relief is that Zain didn't say anything in support of his mother... fewf. Otherwise it would seem like all the characters were completely blinded.
So, it all comes down to one question. Where is all this coming from and where has Aliya's superhero really gone? I remember when Usman was in hospital Zain said to him, "Aliya kehethi hai ki main usska superhero hero hoon, par mere hero sirf aap hai." Usman is Zain's ultimate support and shoulder to lean on when everything seems like it is fading away. Usman's absence in the show really does take away something from not only the family, but each and every individual. Usman is the pillar of the Abdullah house, holding it together when times get tough and I seriously cannot wait for him to be back in action. Zain's father is his light which guides him through every layer of darkness and I feel like his return will bring Zain, Aliya's Zain, back in the show.
Don't worry ZaYanatics, our superhero, prince charming Zain Abdlluah, will return. Until then, keep calm and love ZaYa đđź
