Chapter 2Everyone rushed immediately to the hospital with Fahad driving the car since Zain was definitely not in the right frame of mind to even think at this point. Surraiya and Bobby didn't come along with them though, Zain gave them a deadly warning to stay away from him and his wife because if that girl turned out to be Aaliya in the hospital, then Allah knows what he will do to them.
Upon reaching the hospital, the police allowed only Zain to enter the ICU room in order to identify the girl. Zain walked hesitantly towards the bed, his heart pounding hard in his chest. In a way he hoped this would be Aaliya because then it means his search for her will be over. But in a way he really doesn't want this girl to be Aaliya as it means that he'll have a high chance of losing her forever. This reminded him of the dilemma and turmoil he was in when Aaliya was stuck in the riots. Well Zain Abdullah, you'd think you would have never kept her out of your sight and safe forever after that incident, he thought guiltily to himself.
And yet here he was again in the exact same position, the tears that was flowing uncontrollably in his eyes blurred his vision. He slowly wiped them away and inched a little closer to get a look at the girl...and his heart drops to the ground..Aaliya...it was Aaliya afterall...Zain gently cupped her face and started crying vehemently. The police inspector understood what this meant and he gave a silent instruction to two officers. After they left, the inspector turned to Zain: " I'm really sorry Mr Abdullah, but we should get out of the room now...Mr Abdullah..?" After a minute of contemplation, Zain nodded his head ever so slightly and left the room while staring at Aaliya the whole time.
Outside the room, Zain hugged Fahad and broke down in his brother's arms.
Zain: "It's Aaliya Bhai!! what do I do...it's Aaliya in there..."
Fahad took a deep breath to stop the tears that were forming in his eyes and comforted Zain: "Shh calm down Zain. you can't break down like this right now. You have to stay strong and pray. Pray for her because that's what she needs right now"
Zain was about to reply to Fahad when one of the police officers who had left came back with a man right behind him. The man had a fracture in his left arm and for some reason the man looked guilty when Zain looked him in the eye.
Police Inspector:" Mr Abdullah, this is Mr Raizada. He is the man who brought your wife to the hospital.." Zain was about to shake the man's hands and thank him when the inspector continued, " And uhm he's also the one who hit your wife accidentally with his car..". The inspector sort of knew how Zain would react to hearing this as he's witnessed how much Zain loves his wife, unfortunately his job required him to do this. And as the inspector predicted, Zain grabbed the man furiously by the collar and a string of swearing words could be heard in the hospital's hallway.
Fahad and Zubair rushed to free the man from Zain's deathly grip and they both kept a strong hold in order to make sure that Zain doesn't end up in jail himself. At the same time, Surraiya and Bobby came to where they were despite the warning as Bobby was able to persuade Surraiya that they should go to show that they weren't selfish and heartless but that they actually care for Aaliya even after everything she's done to them. In reality, Bobby just wanted to come in order to see for herself if it's Aaliya or not and she also came to finish the job if Allah doesn't take Aaliya herself.
Zain:"Can't you be careful when you drive?!! Because of careless drivers like you, someone can lose the love of their life why don't stupid drivers like you realize that?!"
Mr Raizada: " What the!! watch what you are saying! The one to blame for you wife's condition is no one but yourself and you know it damn well!"
Zain:" What do you mean? You think you have the right to say that?
Mr Raizada:" I admit that I'm also responsible but you should know...your wife was walking blindlessly staring off somewhere like she was lost..and tears kept falling off her eyes non-stop. I couldn't stop as soon as I saw her because there were several cars behind me. Instead, I honked several times, but she still couldn't hear me! And so by the time that I pressed the brakes, it was too late...and I hit her. If you don't believe me then go outside and take a look at my car. It's completely demolished in the back and I also got a fracture from the cars that hit me in the back.."
Zain didn't respond back, he could tell that the man was saying the truth. And like the man said the one to blame for Aaliya's state is no one but himself...while Zain was engulfed in his guilt and regret, the inspector got Mr Raizada to sign a few documents. Before leaving, Mr Raizada requested the police inspector to inform on Aaliya's condition after the surgery is done for his own peace of mind.
The doctor and a few nurses came to join in where all the commotion was taking place. The Doctor handed out a document to Zain and requested to him to sign as soon as possible.
Zain: "What is this?"
Doctor:"Mr Abdullah this paper states that as doctors we will undoubtedly do our best to save your wife as with any patient. But God forbids if anything happens to your wife we wouldn't be held responsible. Please try to understand that there is only so much we can do..and the rest is up to god. We can't go forward with this surgery until you've signed that paper. So I'd suggest you make it quick."
Zain felt his body frozen from head to toe, he felt like the whole went to a standstill. But the last part of what the doctor said snapped him out of his crumpling world. Without further delay, he signed the document.
Zain gave the document back to the doctor and told him in his now dead voice:" Please save my wife. I can't live without her."
Doctor:" We'll do our best Mr Abdullah. Have faith."
And with that the doctor and the nurses all rushed to the ICU and closed the doors behind them. Zain slumped against the wall and slid down to the ground. He still couldn't believe what was happening to him. He was on the verge of losing the two most precious and pivotal individuals in his life, Aaliya and Usman. The thought of Usman reminded Zain of something very important that was still left to do. Zain looked up at the police inspector and signed him to go ahead. The Inspector got the signal and immediately ordered two officers to arrest Bobby.
Inspector:" Ms Bobby Mir Khan, you are under arrest for attempt of Murder of Mr Usman Abdullah. You'll be enjoying the air of jail for a few decades after what you've done!"
Surraiya's eyes popped out its sockets and she came to stand in front of Bobby as if shielding her. Surraiya of course denied the allegations and insisted that someone wrongly accused her daughter. But Zain stood up and revealed that he's the one who filed the complaint.
Zain:" I've had enough of this girl's nonsense and I'm not going to hear another word now. I'll make sure that she pays for what she has done."
Fahad and the rest of the family members took Zain's side and stood up as witness for Bobby's actions. And with that, Bobby was dragged from there by the police. Zain now walked to the ICU's door and looked through the little glass. He could see his Aaliya battling life and death. After a good long look, he left from there and decided to go to the Dargah to pray and get a taveez for his love now.
