On to the sequence...WOW! Simply WOW! For Zain, I am so glad to see a male lead who isn't a prat just for the sake of it, who is deeply layered without having a hundred past issues & for Harshad...he was without doubt at his FINEST today so far, which is saying a LOT considering some of the brilliant sequences he has shot for. I was quite surprised to realise the outburst was only the last 10 minutes of the episode. I don't remember anything else from the episode except thatđ
Zain really did pull out all the stops & held back nothing. Every bit of anguish & resentment he feels, for Aliya, for his dad...he let it all out. God there was such brilliance & depth, under the sarcasm, it completely blew me away! So many little things. Starting with Zain's entry dialogue - "Sorry Dad...maine bahut pee li hai. Mujhe pata hai apko isse bahut nafrat hai chid machti hai." It was so very significant. Like he wanted to show his dad, how it felt when his loved one does something, knowing that it will hurt him. A reference to the nikaah done against his wishes.
And then, "Aap toh apni bhanji ke khilaf kuch sunn hi nahin" sakte. A clear indication to the resentment that Zain feels over the fact that Usman trusts Aliya more than him. That he is concerned for Aliya more than him. To be honest, the fact that Usman was supporting Aliya so much made be extremely happy & relieved, but the fact that he wasn't really sitting down with Zain & talking to him, & simply asking to him fulfil his responsibilities made me worried these past couple of days. This has without doubt fuelled his resentment against Aliya more than Suraiyya's plots could. Yet again, a valid point for Zain's hatred. I don't know how many will agree, but he really reached out to me. Thinking back to the scene in Bhopal, where Zain aska his dad why they couldn't wait a few more days & find a good guy for Aliya, Usman said , "Because there was no guarantee that anyone else could take good care of ALIYA". To a frustrated son, it can easily be seen as a neglect of his feelings over Aliya's good.
The lollypop dialogue...again another masterpiece by the writers. How Usman never did the smallest thing without thinking of his likes & how he had now disregarded his feelings in such an important decision. WE know that Usman knows Aliya well, & sees how perfect ZaYa are, but Zain doesn't. It was explained beyond doubt today why Zain calls Aliya "Mamu Ki Bhanji" & with such venom in his voice. It is yet another testament to the neglect & frustration he feels at his father choosing his "bhanji" over his laal. Everything about Zain's hatred comes back to this. Today, he did not spitefully ask the police to bring Aliya to the Walimah, so that he could humiliate her & make her life hell as promised. It was so that he could show his dad that his perfect bhanji whom he trusted so much was flawed, was not worth Usman choosing her over his own son.
Harshad was just...god I HAVE NO WORDS. Playing a drunk guy convincingly IS a challenge, & he was BEYOND AMAZING! God...that lost shot with those bloodshot eyes & that pure hatred on his face actually had me shrinking back from the screen. I couldn't believe it was the same carefree guy with that mischievous twinkle in his eyes& that sly smirk. When he fell down on the ground & looked around like a lost boy, when Usman said Aliya was right for him & burst out laughing bitterly at the fact that his dad trusted Aliya more than him & of course...that last shot at the end where he looks at Aliya with pure hatred...ufff, the whole sequence is going on repeat bas! Such confidence onscreen Take a bow Harshad! You stole away the episode! I am so proud to have become a fan of you <3<3<3<3 THANK YOU for breathing into Zain Abdullah. He tugged at my heartstrings today, as did you.
