Dear Buttercup,

I'd like to begin by first thanking you for showing such a keen interest in India 😊.

I gather you are from the UK but have no idea if you are of Indian origin or not, though that really doesn't matter. It just feels good to know that a tele serial has made you interested about this country.

I found a few links that can answer your query in a relatively detailed manner. The last census that detailed the religious concentration in various parts of India was done in 2001. But despite Indian tele-serials abounding in celibate marriages, India is high on the fertility scale. So you can rest assured, the numbers have risen since 2001 😉

As far as I am aware, India has the second highest Muslim Population in the world after Indonesia. And Muslims are distributed throughout the length and breadth of the country. From Jammu and Kashmir in the North to Kerala in the South and Gujarat in the West to Assam in the East. Have found a State and District wise data that can give you the places with the highest concentration.

Here in Ahmedabad too we have many densly populated Muslim Areas in Old part of City...:) :)...Its peaceful harmony among Hindu Muslims here...which i love...:)
