Being modern is fine, just as long as you keep a balance between deen and duniya. However, when one starts to loose that balance in leniency that is when the problem starts. And, you can't be praying namaz at one end and on the other be wearing short clothes. That is hypocrisy. Why pray at all then? They shouldn't have shown her praying at all, then I wouldn't have said anything against her... Islam is very rigid when it comes to certain things and women though they have been given a lot of rights, but they are asked to preserve their modesty, that is very integral part of the religion.
Creative liberty, sure, but to what extent? Don't you think there should be a line drawn somewhere? I haven't even yet pointed out about Aaliya and Zain's dance which is completely forbidden in Islam, to be be at such close proximity with a na-mehram( someone who isn't your husband) is a strict NO. Sadly they have not shown any Islam customs here and that is what irks me a lot, There is always a misrepresentation about Islam in the media and they are doing the same. It is fiction I agree, but it still comes with a few responsibilities especially when it is open to the public.
