Butterfly- so what are the boundries? i mean whats different between how you are supposed to treat your brother and cousins?

Well generally how you behave and how you dress.

In Islam there are people who are Mahram and those that are Non-Mahram.. To cut a long story short Non-Mahram's are those you can marry, and therefore contact with these people should be less and you are meant to cover up more. You're not even meant to touch these cousins. Also you don't have to wear hijab in front of your Mahram's, you can go wherever you want with them, you can hug them etc. but you shouldn't really do that in front of/with Non-Mahram's. There's problem a list on the internet somewhere lol.

These rules apply to both males and females.

But to be honest these days not many families that I know of are like this, as people generally act the same with both their cousins and their own siblings, and this is usually because they would never think of marrying these people. I think the rules are more strictly followed by those that aren't close to their cousins.

guys i have seen lot of posts regarding this cousin? cousin?...y all r shocked to hear that cousin marriage..it is not only practised in islam even in hindu cousin marriages are allowed..i am from traditional hindu family in Tamil nadu chennai in my family my sister got married with my cousin..in our custom cousins are given more priority..even in our custom a girl can marry her mama(mother's borther)it is not religious matter it differs region wise. pls guys dont make such issues enjoy aliya and zain jodi they r looking adorable😃

see, its simple... in islam it is okay to marry your mom's brothers son because they are a different family to yours. you may notice that you don't have the same surname as your cousins (mom's brother's side). i don't think its common to say marry your dad's brother's son because you will probably have the same last name. hope this makes sense... honestly forget about the fact that they are cousins. They're chemistry is so amazing that i easily forget and sort of ignore that aspect.
