Chapter-28

Just as Anirudh entered the court he saw his senior helping one of his mates, he thought to take help from him and headed towards him, "Sir!" "Oh! Barrister Anirudh! Just wait for sometime! I am actually helping your mate with his case!" "Ok Sir!" agreed Anirudh after which he stood near him. After sometime when his senior got free he asked Anirudh, "So Anirudh! Do you need any help with any of your cases?!" "Actually Sir I want a law to be formed!" "Oh! Can I know which law?!" "Sir I want the schools of this area to be open for girls! I think girls also need to be educated! If females are educated enough then our country will surely progress!" replied Anirudh which brought a proud smile on his senior's face, he patted his shoulder and said, "I have to really say Anirudh that you aren't like those who just say and do nothing! You do what you say and this is what makes you different! Very good Anirudh! Also I can tell you who you can ask to make the law! You have to actually meet to the British officials and inquire them regarding this! If they agree then this law will surely get established!" "Thank you so much Sir for your advice! You always help me when I am in need!" "You deserve to be treated like this only Anirudh! To be honest I have seen very less man like you! For this also best of luck!" "Thank you Sir!" said Anirudh after which his Senior went away with a smile, "After doing some work here I will go to meet the British Government!" decided Anirudh as he went inside his chamber.

Saurabh took half day off from his work and took Sampoorna with him towards the devotees, they saw them singing various hymns and stood infront of them waiting for them to finish their singing. After sometime a devotee came towards them and asked, "Oh! Maa you are here again?! Well you both are standing here for a long time! Do you want anything from us?!" "Ah yes! I actually want my wife to learn and practice hymns with you!" "Oh! I guess your wife already has a beautiful voice, right?!" "Yes! But if she practices in singing then her throat will open more and she will be sing on any note!" "Hmm, you are right! But does she really wants to do it or not?!" "Yes! She really wants to! Right Sampoorna?!" "I...." "Sampoorna when he praised you I saw an unusual expression on your face! An expression of feeling special and wonderful! That expression told me that you wanted to become something and I think you are capable of becoming a singer Sampoorna! You can do it!" said Saurabh which grew another fire inside her, the fire to do something! To show that you are capable of anything! The fire to make an identity for herself. For sometime she stood numb, then suddenly she said, "Yes! I want to!" "Are you sure Maa?!" "Yes! I really want to! I want to make my own identity and make my husband proud of me! This will be for us!" she said confidently which touched Saurabh's heart. The devotee smiled at them and said, "When you devote yourself into anything which is good you can really achieve them! So Maa, be ready to completely devote yourself in this! For that you have to manage time so that nobody has any problem! When do you want to join us?!" "This means you agree?!" asked Saurabh after which he nodded, "Yes! We should help those who really want to do something in their lives! For that Maa do let me know when you want to join us!" "Thank you so much! I will have to ask my mother-in-law and father-in-law then!" replied Sampoorna with a grin after which the devotee greeted them and went away. Saurabh and Sampoorna smiled at them and then headed towards their home.

"Though I don't like the Britishers much I still have to convince them anyhow! They have to agree with me and for that I will keep convincing them! I have taken the path of change and once I have kept my foot on it there's no turning back!" thought Anirudh with a smile and he reached the British Government's place. He noticed a man standing infront of the door and asked, "I need to talk to the British officials about something! Can I go inside?" "Who are you?!" "I am Barrister Anirudh Roy Choudhary!" "Oh! A Barrister! Are you Zamindar Trilochan Roy Choudhary's son?!" "I am his nephew though he also considers me as his son!" "Hmm, you can go inside!" agreed the man as he led him inside, "Surely they mostly allow those who have greater status in the society! Kaka is a landlord that's why I am allowed here!" thought Anirudh as he followed the man.

"Dada!" "Hmm?" "Why didn't you go to school today?!" "I am thinking to start going to school from tomorrow!" "Oh" "Where's Mauri?!" "She is playing with Shashwati! I am also going Dada!" "Wait! I am also coming!" "Why?! Do you fear to stay alone?!" asked Bondita with a smirk, "Don't mistake me to be a child like you! I just want to walk outside! Who likes to stay inside for the whole day?! Let's go!" replied Shekhar as he kept his diary under his pillow and went with Bondita who was frowning at him.

The man told Anirudh to go inside and behave with the officials with respect, Anirudh nodded to him and went inside to see two-three men sitting inside and writing something on papers, "Can I have some time to talk with you?" asked Anirudh which made the officials look up to him, "Who are you young man?" "I am Barrister Anirudh Roy Choudhary!" "Ok, here sit infront us!" "Thank you Sir!" said Anirudh as he sat infront of them. The officials kept their pens beside, one of them looked at him with seriousness and asked, "So what do you want from us?" "Actually I am here for the welfare of people!" "Oh, what kind of welfare?" "I want a law to be established to open schools for girls! I think that girls too need education that's why!" "Oh! I have to say that you are the first man in this village who is saying this! Others don't look much bothered about their society!" "Huh! These words are coming out from those persons' mouth who themselves not bother much about people here! Bloody hypocrites!" thought Anirudh as a fire grew inside him, he said, "So do you agree with this?" "But do others want this too?" "You yourself said that here people don't look much bothered about their society then how can you expect them to think better about themselves?! Nowadays no one knows what is good for them! They don't understand that not everything lasts permanently in this world! Change is the rule of nature! So we have to make everyone agree that they have to accept what is right for them!" replied Anirudh with a sarcastic smile. The officials looked towards each other and then whispered among themselves, suddenly one of them said, "Ok then! We will first discuss regarding this among everyone and then establish this law!" "Well please do it quickly!" "Don't worry Barrister Anirudh! You just have some patience! Now you can go!" "Thank you!" said Anirudh after which the official nodded at him with a soft smile. Anirudh headed outside with a smile and thought to tell Bondita about this.

Saurabh found his mother cutting vegetables and called her softly, "Maa.." "If you want to ask for the permission to go to Calcutta then I am telling you now only! You cannot go with Sampoorna there!" "No Maa! Actually Sampoorna wants to practice singing with the vaishnavas! So can she go there?! Also isn't this good if she devotes herself to God too?!" "Hmm, it's a good thing but she mustn't forget her duties!" "No Maa! I won't! I will manage time and work within!" said Sampoorna which amazed Saurabh's mother. Seeing her determination she said, "Ok then, I am allowing you to do so but you have to prove it! If you are able to manage work and singing without upsetting us then you can continue!". Sampoorna's eyes glowed with happiness that she hugged her mother firmly, "Thank you so much Maa! I will surely prove myself! Thank you for giving me a chance!" she said as her mother-in-law touched her cheek with a grin and Saurabh beholded them, picturing such a beautiful moment in his heart.

Anirudh headed towards his haveli as he checked time on his watch in between, with a smile he said, "Thank God I have reached here quite early! I won't disappoint them!". As he entered his home he saw Bondita, Shekhar, Batuk, Shashwati and Mauri holding each other's hands, he headed towards them and asked, "Oh! You three have come here already! Well what are you all doing?!" "We are playing a message game Dada! Shekhar Dada introduced this new game to us!" replied Shashwati with a grin, "I have to say Dada that Shekhar really knows very good games! We aren't at all getting bored here!" "This is good then! So you all play here while I am coming back after getting refreshed!" said Anirudh as he smiled at Bondita and went away.

As they continued to play Bondita saw her Zamindar Kaka moving here and there, looking for something and she asked him, "What happened Zamindar Kaka?! Did you lose anything?!" "Yes, I am continuously looking for it! Don't know where it is!" "Well can you tell me Zamindar Kaka that what are you looking for? What if I am successful in finding it for you?!" "Oh, are you trying to make me look as a stupid?!" "Not at all Zamindar Kaka! I am not oversmarting you! I just want to help you!" "Hmm, I am looking for the Tulasi plant which was kept here!" "Oh! I know where it is kept!" said Bondita as she left their hands and ran outside, "Uff Didi! Why did you leave the game in between?! Let's continue without her!" said Mauri to which everyone nodded.

Bondita brought a Tulasi plant inside and kept it infront of him, "Here Zamindar Kaka! I saw it outside when I came here! But now it's dark outside so you cannot pluck its leaves!" "Why so?! Is this a rule?!" "Yes! We should never pluck leaves from the trees at dark evenings and night as they are sleeping now!" "How do you know so much?!" "I worship God with my whole heart! That's why I know this! Well you can just offer flowers and food! Vasudeva is always satisfied even with these!" replied Bondita with a grin which amazed Trilochan.

Chapter-29

Trilochan smiled at her and said, "This is really nice! Then let's worship God together!" "Yes Zamindar Kaka!" agreed Bondita with a grin after which she went with him towards the small temple. They together took the name of God while their own hearts danced with the name, "Hare Krishna!". After worshipping their God they folded their hands for sometime as they murmured something, "Do you always take his name?!" asked Trilochan after they finished praying, "Yes! Always!" "This is a very good thing! Never let the name fade away from your heart!" he said as he patted her head with a smile and walked away.

"Now you all can come for studying!" "Dada! Please give us atleast two minutes! Our game is almost ending now!" said Shashwati as they continued to play, "Then when will you all study?!" "Dada if we keep studying like this how will we make wonderful memories?!" asked Batuk after which Anirudh came infront of them maintaining his frown, "Oh, this means the whole day you were just studying Batuk?! Then write everything you studied today!" "Dada I was just joking! Please give us some time more?!" "Hmm" agreed Anirudh after which he went towards Bondita, "You only come with me Bondita! Let them waste their time!" he said to which Bondita nodded as she chuckled a bit and followed him.

Bondita's eyes widened at the sight of the room, she was amazed to see so many books arranged in a neat order and the room looked like a perfect royal library! Anirudh noticed this and asked with a grin, "You are seeing so many books for the first time! Right?!" "Yes Birristra Babu! This room is just like a huge treasure of books! This means you were sleeping here that day?!" "Yes!" "Don't you see so many books in your dreams too?!" asked Bondita to which Anirudh chuckled. He shook his head with a grin and said, "I don't see only books! I see many things! Our mind is the most complex and interesting thing ever! It amazes me!" "I agree! Yesterday I saw a dream where somebody pushed me down the stairs...." replied Bondita with a pout to which Anirudh laughed and said, "Poor you, your mind is surely playing with you!" "Correct!" agreed Bondita as she nodded.

Anirudh told her to sit on the sofa as he took hold of one notebook, he took one pencil and checked Shashwati's notebook, "You are looking like a teacher Birristra Babu!" "Because now I am a teacher!" "Oh, can I call you Shikshak Babu?!" "Nice name! So Miss Bondita! Here take a paper and write your name in Bengali!" "Ok Shikshak Babu!" agreed Bondita as she took one pencil and started scribbling on the paper. After few seconds she showed him her paper so that Anirudh could read, "বন্ধি...তা...দাস! Excellent Bondita! Just your handwriting is a bit bad" "I know....I can write beautifully only slowly!" "Well you could have taken your time then! But I am glad you know to read and write Bengali! Oh! I almost forgot it! I want to tell you something Bondita!" "What Birristra Babu?!" "Birristra Babu?!" "Because now you will tell me something as a friend!" "Very smart! Actually I have applied for a law to open schools for girls! I am just waiting the law to get approved! And then you will be able to study in a school Bondita!" "Really Birristra Babu?! I know your hardwork will get paid!" said Bondita with a grin which touched his heart yet again. Bondita noticed the handwriting in the notebook and asked, "This is Shashwati's notebook?!" "Yes! How do you know?!" "Shashwati was showing her diary to us that's why I know!" "Oh" "Well how is Shashwati allowed in school?!" "Actually a home tutor comes to teach her!" "Aacchha!" "Wait! Two minutes have already passed and still they didn't come here! Shashwati! Batuk! Mauri! Shekhar!" "Yes Dada! We have come here!" "I almost forgot that I had to call all of you after two minutes!" "I wish you had remember this tomorrow..." murmured Batuk as they all entered the study room.

Anirudh gave Batuk and Shashwati some arithmetic problems, he wrote alphabets in one column and told Bondita and her siblings to copy them in the second column. As he continued to checked Shashwati's notebook he smiled at their concentration and suddenly noticed Batuk making confused expressions, "What happened Batuk? Are you stuck anywhere?" "Yes Dada! This sum is going over my head!" "Now do you understand why you need to study now? Tomorrow when your Sir will scold you infront of everyone will you feel good?" asked Anirudh to which Batuk shook his head. He then checked Bondita and her sibling's notebooks and said, "Hmm, good! So now it's your homework to write the alphabets hundred times!" "What?! Won't my hands pain?!" exclaimed Mauri, "If you want to learn something you have to practice it many times! You can take some breaks in between though!" "Hmm" "So our class ends here! Now you all can go!" replied Anirudh with a smile after which everyone waved at each other and left.

Just as Anirudh arranged his books carefully before sleeping the telephone started ringing loudly which pained his ears, "Uff! Who is calling now?!". He held the telephone with a frustrated look and asked, "Hello?" "Hello Mr. Anirudh Roy Choudhary! I hope your life is going well!" "Oh Mini! Why are you trying to deepen your voice?!" "Just to check if you can recognise me or not!" "Hmm, well when will you return?" "I am staying at my home now Anirudh!" "What?! So why didn't you come outside?!" "Actually as we were returning back we realised that it was quite late that's why we stayed at my father's friend's house! And then we returned this morning only! As we were already tired we thought to take plenty of rest!" "Oh! Well Mini I have to tell you something!" "What Anirudh?" "I have applied for a law to open schools for girls! I just hope this gets successful!" "Oh, that's nice Anirudh! You are doing great! Well it's time to sleep now! So good night!" "Ah yes! Goodnight!" said Anirudh after which he kept the telephone back. As he went towards his room he thought sadly, "Mini ended the talk so quickly! Did I bore her?! Then there's no use to talk to her regarding this....is being alone such a misfortune?!..Why does no one here seems to have any interest in my dreams?! Why do they think it's just a waste of time?! If no one will support me how will I completely change the rules?! Just as the time is passing everything feels so distant!".

After he entered his room he thought to say goodnight to Bondita, he parted the curtains to see Bondita looking outside with a smile, her eyes were beholding the beauty of the night after which her eyes fell upon him. She quickly stood properly and exclaimed, "Oh Birristra Babu!" "You didn't sleep now?" "I don't like to sleep early Birristra Babu, so I was looking at the sky! The beauty of the sky is just beyond any description!" "Hmm!" "Well is anything disturbing you Birristra Babu?!" "Wh-What?! No..." "But your face is telling me otherwise Birristra Babu!" "Ah, well yes but....." "No need to hesitate Birristra Babu! Just pour your heart out!" "Many questions are coming in my mind Bondita, is being alone such a misfortune?! Why does no one here seems to have any interest in my dreams?! Why do they think it's just a waste of time?! If no one will support me how will I completely change the rules?! Just as the time is passing everything feels so distant! S-Sorry for being too emotional.." said Anirudh as he almost teared up. Bondita listened to him quietly and then replied with a smile, "You don't need to be sorry for being emotional and expressive Birristra Babu! It's a good trait! About being alone is a misfortune or a fortune, the answer lies with you! Do you enjoy being alone?" "But how can one enjoy being alone?! You feel lonely!" "Being alone isn't the same as feeling lonely! You can even feel lonely with everyone as when no one seems to understand you you don't feel homely there! And this happens with everyone at any stage of life when they started feeling lonely but that only teaches them the importance of being alone too! When you are alone there's no one else but only you! And when you are with yourself you try to understand and improve yourself which leads to happiness! In this world nobody understands you that well or should I say no one is interested in understanding anyone! But you have yourself! Who can support you and understand you! Do you know Birristra Babu why is life meaningful for some and not for others?! Because they don't want to make their life meaningful and purposeful! But you want to! You want your life to hold a meaning and also to make others life meaningful! Just proceed with this Birristra Babu! Even if you are alone you still have the ability to bring change! I hope I am not boring or confusing you at all!" said Bondita as she looked towards him and noticed tears sparkling from his eyes. He started grinning as tears dropped from his eyes and said, "You can never bore anyone Bondita! And those who get bored just don't understand the depth of your words! Thank you so much Bondita! Goodnight!" "Ah yes! Goodnight!" said Bondita with a soft smile after which both of them pulled the curtains.

Sampoorna woke up at two o'clock and headed towards the kitchen, "I have to quickly finish all my work and join the devotees! I won't disappoint Maa-Baba!" she said to herself as she cut the vegetables and cooked food for everyone. She took out the saree she would wear and worshipped God. Saurabh's mother woke up as she heard some sounds coming from the kitchen, when she entered it she was shocked to see Sampoorna so early, "Bou is extremely determined! Looks like now no one can stop her!" she murmured with a chuckle.

As the sun created different hues of yellow in the sky Trilochan noticed some men entering their haveli, "Nomoshkar Zamindar Babu! We are from Brahmo Samaj! Can we meet Barrister Babu?!" "Oh ok! Anirudh!! Some men from Brahmo Samaj have come to meet you!!". Anirudh came downstairs and asked, "Oh, do you want anything from me?" "Just come outside with us Barrister Babu!" said one with a smile after which Anirudh went with them outside.

He noticed a group of women smiling at him after which they shouted, "We want to congratulate and thank you Chhote Zamindar Babu! Soon bathrooms will be supplied inside everyone's house!". Anirudh couldn't stop himself smiling, the man garlanded him and shouted, "Hail to Barrister Babu! Hail to Barrister Babu!". He was fed a laddoo and flower petals were raining over him. Bondita quickly came outside to see what was happening there and grinned at the sight, her friend was getting appreciated for his hardwork and this was what giving her lots of happiness!

Anirudh smiled widely as the village women and the men from Brahmo Samaj smiled at him, "I should thank all of you also! If you all hadn't support me in this then maybe we would have never been successful in taking one step towards the change! I thank all of you for this!!". In between the sudden silence he heard someone clapping loudly! Everyone turned their faces to see Bondita clapping loudly with a grin! Anirudh started grinning widely and he quickly headed towards her. Bondita stopped clapping and said, "Congratulations Birristra Babu! You have successfully taken one step ahead!". Anirudh quickly took off one of his garlands and put it around Bondita's neck which stunned everyone including Bondita! He held her hands and said, "I also want to thank you so much my Sakhi! If you hadn't encourage me enough then maybe I wouldn't have been able to gather courage to take one step! So I want you to celebrate this with me!!" "Oh! But how?!" "Let's dance in happiness!!!" said Anirudh happily as he held Bondita's hands more tightly and whirled together as he laughed. Bondita's eyes had gone wide and she too started laughing!

They both got lost in their laughter that they couldn't see people giving them dirty looks. Some started whispering among themselves while some couldn't bear them anymore and left from there. After they got tired they started taking deep breaths maintaining their beaming faces! Finally Bondita noticed two women whispering to each other and continuously looking towards them. She just turned her face and rolled her eyes, fully ignoring them! Knowing that the aunts always had a problem so it was not a very big deal! Anirudh understood why she turned her face, he was about to walk towards the women but was stopped by Bondita. Confused by her actions he asked, "Why are you stopping me Bondita?" "Even if you confront them and try to make them understand they won't listen to us!" "But atleast we can try to talk to them and point out their wrong mindset!" "Our actions have more power than words Birristra Babu! Our actions are enough to prove them wrong!" "Yes! You are right!" agreed Anirudh with a grin.

Finally after completing all her work Sampoorna took a deep breath and said, "Maa! I have done my chores! Now may I go?!" "Hmm, okay! But do return early too! Don't think that if you can wake up early then you won't return early too!!" "No Maa! I won't disappoint you! I will surely return early!" "Ok then! Now you can go!" said Saurabh's mother with a soft smile after which Sampoorna adjusted her veil a bit and went outside.

She quickly headed towards the devotees but was stopped by a woman, "Oh Sampoorna! Where are you going?!" "I am going to meet the devotees!!" "Why?! Will you change yourself into a saint?!" she asked with a chuckle, "No! Just sing hymns with them!" "What?! You will sing hymns?! Did you finish all your chores?!" "Today is my first day and that's why I want to start early! But how to escape from this situation?!" thought Sampoorna, "What happened?!" "Yes Yes! I have completed all my chores! I will sing with them! I will do everything! Now I am getting late and I should go!" said Sampoorna quickly as she increased her pace and went away leaving the woman in shock.

Mauri was doing the homework given by her teacher. Just as she saw her sister coming back with a garland she asked as she twisted her brows, "Didi, why are you wearing a garland?!" "Birristra Babu wanted to celebrate his success with me! That's why he put a garland around my neck!" "Oh! Well Didi, did you complete your homework?!" "No, just some of it is left!" "Ok then! Let's complete together!" "And where's Dada?!" "He completed his homework quite early and has gone outside to stroll!" "Oh, let's complete our work quickly then!" "Yes Didi!" agreed Mauri after which both of them continued to complete their work.

Suddenly they both heard Kaka talking loudly, "Who plucks some flowers from our plants?! Is this done by a cat?!". Bondita and Mauri came outside at the balcony and asked, "What happened Zamindar Kaka?!" "Did you see any cat near our plants?!" "No!" "Someone plucks some flowers from our plants!" "Oh! Zamindar Kaka! I actually plucked some flowers!" "Why?!" "To worship my God! I have a small idol with me!" "Aacchha! Then you could have join me like yesterday!" "Really?! You won't mind?!" "Not at all!" "But I can't accept this Da! You cannot allow her like she is our family member!" replied Binoy with a frown after which Trilochan whispered to him, "Binoy I am doing this for my advantage! If she worships God with me then Shashwati, Batuk and Anirudh will start taking worshipping God more seriously!" "They don't have to do this Da! Let them normally play, study and grow! This is just a nonsense!" "Uff! You don't understand anything Binoy! We should teach our children to worship God! Now you go to your factory!" "Hmm". Binoy frowned at Bondita yet again and then headed towards his factory. Trilochan told her to come in the haveli for worshipping God at evening with a smile to which they both nodded.

Sampoorna sang hymns with the devotees happily after which one of them said, "Your voice is so sweet like honey Maa! Shri Krishna is surely loving your voice!" "Will you come here daily?!" asked the other, "Yes! Always for practicing music!" "That's nice! Let's continue then!" he said to which Sampoorna nodded and then everyone together sang the name of God!

Just as the sun was setting, creating a bit darkness in the sky she quickly headed towards her home to bring clothes for she would take some bath before worshipping the God and then prepare for their dinner, "I have to quickly do everything or Maa will stop me from going further!" she said to herself as she reached her home.

"Mauri! Have you done your work?!" "Just some letters are left Didi!" "Increase your speed a bit! It's already five!" "Yes Didi!" "Bondita! Won't you come for worshipping God?!" "Yes! I am coming Zamindar Kaka! Let's go!" "But some of my alphabets are left!" "Uff! You quickly go to the bathroom! I will complete your work! That's why I told you to complete your work rather than playing with Shashwati this afternoon!" "But I couldn't stop myself from playing with her Didi! Also...." "Now stop talking and quickly go!!" said Bondita sternly after which Mauri went with a pout.

After sometime they both ran towards the haveli to see Shekhar talking to Batuk, "Dada! Let's worship God together!" said Bondita as she held his hand tightly and pulled him towards Trilochan's small temple, "But now it was Mauri's turn to prepare everything for God! Tomorrow is my turn!" "From today we will be worshipping here Dada!" "Oh!". As they all folded their hands infront the God's idol Shashwati too joined them to talk with Mauri, "We are worshipping God now Shashwati! So let's fold our hands!" she whispered to her after which Shashwati nodded and did the same. Trilochan had a wide smile on his face, he thought, "Yes! My idea is working perfectly! Now that Shashwati has joined us later I will convince Batuk too!".

Anirudh headed towards his haveli with a smile and said to himself, "Today my senior too praised me a lot! Bondita was right! Starting something alone isn't a bad idea! What will she be doing now?!". Just as he reached his haveli he noticed Bondita sitting on her knees infront of a plant. He too sat beside her and asked, "What happened Bondita? Why are you sitting here?" "Shh! Don't disturb me Birristra Babu!" "But atleast tell me what you are doing?" "I am watching the ants carrying away the dead insect with them! See there Birristra Babu!" she said as she pointed towards an army of ants carrying a dead moth. They both watched the ants carrying the dead moth inside an anthill hole which surprised Bondita, "I have always seen ants moving in lines but for the first time I am seeing them carrying a dead insect with them! What will they do with the moth?!" "They will eat the moth" "Oh! But why?!" "To keep the environment clean actually! As the dead insect rots they eat it!" "Oh! And we eat fruits before they rot!" replied Bondita with a chuckle, "Right! Now let's go inside Bondita! It's our class now!" said Anirudh with a smile to which Bondita nodded.

Anirudh checked their notebooks and said, "Now you all write the alphabets without seeing it!" "Ok Shikshak Babu!" agreed Bondita as she tried to remember the alphabets. After sometime just as Binoy returned the haveli and passed by the study room he got frustrated to see Bondita and her siblings studying with his children. He headed towards them and sternly said, "These village children cannot study here!" "But why Baba?!" "I said no! Our children shouldn't mix with them!" "But they are already friends Baba! What's wrong if they are from village?! This doesn't mean that they aren't humans like us!" "What happened Binoy and Anirudh beta?! Why are you both arguing with each other?!" asked Trilochan as he reached the scene. Binoy facepalmed and said, "My forehead pains whenever I talk to this boy! Da! We will never allow these village children enter our haveli!" "B-But Binoy what's wrong in this?! Let them stay!" "Why are you suddenly taking their side Da?! Oh yes! I understand that you want our children to worship God but not like this! I won't be stopping you but atleast don't let them stay here!" said Binoy sternly after which Trilochan gulped in as everyone got to know his reason. Anirudh couldn't handle it anymore, he frowned at them and said in a loud voice, "Ok then! I will also not let them stay here and listen to your taunts! I can't let them feel inferior! Bondita! Mauri! And Shekhar! From tomorrow I will come to your house and teach you! Now you all can take your notebooks and leave".

Bondita and her siblings held their notebooks and sadly waved at Batuk and Shashwati. Anirudh and Bondita smiled softly at each other after which she went away. Kaka frowned in frustration and murmured, "Dhur Baba! Because of this stupid Binoy I will never be successful in lighting their interest in taking God's name! Now what will I do?!".

Chapter-31

Anirudh parted his curtains and saw Bondita beholding the sky just like yesterday! Surely she was very much fond of the beauty of nature! He smiled at her as he cleared his throat, "Bondita!" "Oh Birristra Babu! You have still not slept?!" "Wasn't feeling sleepy just like you! Well Bondita, I want to apologise to you on behalf of my Baba. He is actually very much proud regarding this status that he doesn't bother much about others..." "No need to apologise Birristra Babu! We already know about his this attitude so we weren't much surprised! The truth is we can't change everyone for good but surely the upcoming challenges will teach them various lessons! Time is the teacher here!" "Right Bondita! Also Bondita! We have to complete our full syllabus in these two months! Today is 10th April!" "This is Boishak (first month in Bengali calendar) Birristra Babu!" "Yes Bondita! Oh yes! I can also teach you all for about two hours in the morning!" "Okay Birristra Babu!" "Won't you all mind the time?!" "Well I and my Dada will surely have no problem but Mauri..." said Bondita as she sighed to which Anirudh laughed a bit and said, "Ok then! Good night Bondita!" "Good night Birristra Babu!" said Bondita after which both of them pulled the curtains together with a smile!

After washing all the dishes and praying to the God's idol Sampoorna was about to enter her room but was stopped by her mother-in-law, "Maa, you are still not sleeping?!" "Actually I was keeping the leftover foods inside the small wooden cupboard!" "Oh" "Well Sampoorna! Here keep this..." she said as she handed her some money, "Why are you giving me money Maa?" "Pohela Boishak (Bengali Happy New Year) is quite near! So you and Saurabh have to buy new clothes! This is a gift from your Baba actually! Do buy very beautiful clothes!" "Ok Maa!" agreed Sampoorna happily after which she entered her room.

Saurabh was laying on his bed as he waited for his wife! After the day of confessing their love to each other they both used to cuddle together comfortably! As the door opened he turned his face towards it and with a smile said, "You have finally returned! Let's sleep together now!" "Yes! Well we are given some money by Baba!" she said as she gave him the money to keep them safely, "Uff! Maa-Baba never listen to me! I always tell them not to give me money but still!" "But we can't refuse their given money too..." "Hmm...". Sampoorna entered the sheet and cuddled to him, Saurabh happily hugged her back after which they both fell fast asleep. After so much work the best thing both could receive was the comfort in each other's embrace!

Just as the cock welcomed the morning and several birds chirped, discussing the weather among themselves everyone got quickly ready and went outside for their work. Bondita after worshipping the God distributed the offered remnants among her siblings and started preparing for their breakfast.

Anirudh thought to meet Saudamini for she nowadays didn't come much outside. He entered her house to see her alone, "Mini" he softly called her as he suddenly heard her sobbing voice. He stood infront of her to see tears flowing from her eyes which worried him to an extent! He shook her gently and asked, "Mini! What happened Mini?! Why are you crying?!" "A-Anirudh" "Just tell me Mini! No need to hide anything from me! I am your friend, right?!". Mini got up slowly as she continued to sob and quickly hugged him, "Anirudh!!!" "Yes Mini! Tell me your problem now!" "Isabella is dead!!!" "What?! Who is she now?!" "She is Chris's fiancee! She died when she was saving Chris from their enemies!!!" "Wait, were you reading your romance novel now?!" "Hmm!". Anirudh quickly broke their hug and frowned at her, "If certain things make you cry then why do you read them Mini?!" "Because I love torturing myself like that!!! I love to read stories with sad endings!! Isabella is dead!!" she wailed loudly. Anirudh facepalmed and said, "Uff! Enough of your romance novels Mini! Now quickly come outside!!" "No I won't! Some pages of the story are left!" she said as she took hold of her romance novel yet again which angered Anirudh. Anirudh snatched the novel from her hands and kept it on her dressing table, he tightly held her hand to take her outside, "Come with me now!" "No! I can't bear the sun!" "Are you a vampire?!" "Yes! Just like Chris!" "What?!" "Yes! Do you know that Chris was a vampire and that's why people wanted to kill him but Isabella loved whim wholeheartedly! Why did she die?! Now who will protect Chris?!" "Chris will save himself! Now let's go! You will get weak if you don't get enough of Vitamin-D!" "I will bite you then!" she said as she place her mouth on his wrist. Anirudh laughed and again frowned at her, "You won't be able to suck my blood you vampire! Here the sunrays enter!" he said as he parted the curtains causing the dim sunrays entering her room. Mini left him and shouted, "NO NO! WHY DID YOU PARTED THE CURTAINS! NOW I WILL TURN INTO ASHES!!" "Enough of your drama! Now come with me!" said Anirudh sternly as he held her hand and took her outside.

"Where were you yesterday?!" "Yesterday the whole day I was outside with my Baba to buy clothes and shoes for Pohela Boishakh! Also we bought some pastries and sweets!" "This quick?!" "I am not like you Anirudh who buys everything at the last moment!" she replied with a smirk, "Hmm, I want you to meet someone!" "Who?!" "You will get to know it yourself!" he replied with a smile leaving Mini curious!

Sampoorna wanted to buy clothes and sing with the devotees as well! She sat infront of Saurabh and asked him, "I am quite confused now...I have to join the devotees now but we have to buy clothes also! What to do now?" "Let's quickly buy clothes for us now!" "Won't your master mind it?!" "He will, but only a bit! Let's quickly go!" he said after which she nodded and both went outside.

Anirudh and Mini reached near Bondita's house's door, "Bondita!" he called her after which she came outside with a curious look, "What happened Birristra Babu?" "I want you to meet my another friend! She is Saudamini! You can simply call her Mini Didi! And Mini! She is Bondita!" Anirudh started his introduction, "Oh, so this is Bondita!" she thought as she walked towards her and gently pinched her cheek. Her eyes glowed suddenly and she exclaimed, "Her cheeks are so soft and chubby!! She is so cute!!". Bondita just gave a soft smile after which Saudamini grinned, "See Mini! She is younger than you but still she wakes up quickly and does her work on her own! While you are an adult and wake up so late! Learn something from her!" "Uff Anirudh! Now stop acting like a parent! Let me behold her cute face!" she said as she pinched her both the cheeks again! Bondita slightly chuckled which turned Saudamini confused, "Why are you laughing Bondita?" "You just said something which I said to Birristra Babu some days ago!" "This means you also pointed this?!" "Yes!" "See Anirudh! She is so smart! She understands everything so well! Just like me she too knows that you behave like a parent! So we are sisters from now!" she said as she hugged Bondita from back! Anirudh again facepalmed as Mini didn't understand his point and said, "Ok then! Remain just like you are! When you will become extremely weak and lazy then you will understand!". Mini just showed her tongue to him which annoyed him more.

"Anirudh! Where are you?!" "I am coming Kaka! You can talk to Bondita till then!" said Anirudh as he went downstairs. Mini asked Bondita to show her house after which Bondita led her inside!

"What happened Kaka?" "Here take the money and buy clothes for yourself!" "Kaka, I can buy with my own money!" "Uff! Now don't start your arguments! Go!" he said with a frustrated look after which Anirudh sighed and went away.

As he climbed the stairs he thought to take Bondita and her siblings with him to buy their new clothes as well. He quickly went towards the door to see Bondita, Mauri, Shekhar and Saudamini laughing together. This brought a smile on his face and he said, "They have bonded quite well! And that too in such a short period of time! You all come with me!" "Where Barrister Babu?!" asked Shekhar, "We will go to the shops to buy new clothes for Pohela Boishak!" "Yay! Let's go!" shouted Mauri as she jumped, "I will also come!" "But your shopping is already done, right Mini?" "I want to help them! Now no need to hide it! I know that you can't do anything without me!" "Hmm..".

They all went together outside, holding each other's hands which did irk people around them but they didn't seem to care much! They looked around various cloth shops which were enthralling because of the beautiful woven sarees and dhotis! Anirudh and Shekhar bought mesmerizing white kurta-dhutis! While Bondita and Mauri bought two-three beautiful red and white sarees! Though this did take them a lot of them as in between they were confused to choose the perfect one! "I will give you bindis as well Bondita and Mauri! You both will look extremely beautiful!" said Saudamini after which Bondita and Mauri looked happily towards each other. Anirudh too smiled and said, "Now let's return back! Bondita, I will tomorrow buy you ingredients for making pithas and many other sweets! We will help you for sure!" "Thank you so much Birristra Babu! We will together celebrate Pohela Boishakh with so much joy!" she said as everyone grinned. After all they have to welcome Boishak month!
