AN: A look into Anirudh's mind after his closeness with Vaijayanti and his confusing emotions for Bondita.

Drabble 2: His No More

He could not get her out of his mind.

Anirudh Roy Choudhury frowned as he ended up making another mistake in the document, he had been re-writing. And all this happened because of her.

Taking his glasses off, he pinched the bridge of his nose, pushing back his chair. His long legs stretched out and he heaved a sigh as his body relaxed.

Since that day, he had been having troublesome thoughts about that girl.

Wrong thoughts, his mind told him clearly. He was her teacher. He should not be thinking about her like that. It was an insult to the pure relationship between a Guru and his student.

And yet, he could not stop.

For years, he had kept himself in control. With his hasty marriage to a child bride, he had shut off that part of himself, keeping away from Mini to preserve the sanctity of his marriage. Instead, his dreams had birthed wings when he had realized the potential of his little bride and in his desperation to set her up on the path to glory, he had ended up marrying again.

Manorama was a mistake, he now agreed fully. She was what resembled a powerful woman in his mind, someone he could respect and see as an equal. In his drive of empowering women, Manorama was a worthy example of someone who led the banner of equality. And that was what had resulted in his attraction towards her. His youth and his devotion to empowerment had pulled him to her. Had he met her before his marriage, maybe she would have been his chosen partner.

But after his little bride came into his life, his entire axis had shifted. Instead, he had married Manorama as a deal to help her out in her goals as well as shatter the conventional dreams that the society and his Kaka had fed his little bride.

He had broken her heart but had succeeded. Manorama too had got her goal and as promised, left. Then the law passed and with triumph, he also lost the right to call his little bride his wife. And so Anirudh Roy Choudhury was an unwed man again, despite having two marriages in his past.

Manorama had faded as a past memory but that was not the case with his little bride. She remained and with her lived his zeal to see her as a Barrister. He had ended up completing tasks he had never thought he would be able to do. He had met impossible challenges, broken thousands of rules, hurt many people; just to see her set free.

And he did succeed. Eight years ago, he set her free.

And in return he caged himself.

Did it mean that he had forgotten her?

Never.

One cannot forget half of their soul, no matter how far they were. Things had gotten messier between Tulsipur and Krishna Nagar but she remained untouched by it; far away. With that as a source of strength, Anirudh Roy Choudhury took up the gun instead of the pen to safeguard his family. In this, he had to lock himself away; and he did.

But then she returned.

A deep chasm opened up in him and he closed his eyes. Immediately his mind drifted to the slight touch he had felt when she had brushed past him and the familiar smell in her dupatta that had made him feel at home. Her closeness to him in the sword fighting arena had jarred him and when he realized that he was applying Haldi on the wound of a young woman who was her; it had pierced past his defenses and nearly broken him in half.

Bondita had always been a force of nature. She had rarely cared about the consequences before marching on to do what she wanted. She was adamant when as a young child, she had made her Mama write a letter to the groom with her conditions for marriage. She was also adamant when she declared that she wanted to meet him as an adult.

A small smile teased his lips when he remembered her guts in stealing the idol of Dugga Maa. Now that was something he really had not expected of her. But maybe he should have. Bondita never did things in easy ways. She would find the most dramatic and straightforward route possible. He had paused her march with his hurtful words and his threat, but he knew it would not hold her back for long.

And then there was Vaijayanti.

Even the name caused his insides to squirm. He had never met a more irritating woman in his entire life. It made him want to revert his mentality to those of the older generations who were against teaching women to read.

Almost!

She made him want to bash his head in the nearby wall and call everything quits. Sometimes he even wondered if he should release her on ThakuMaa and Chandrachur. Her stupid talks were enough to defeat even the strongest. They deserved to suffer the trouble called Vaijayanti. He pitied the man who would marry her. He has no idea how peaceful his present was.

But even his irritation could not make him forget the fact that his own reaction to her was very complex. First, she reminded him of Bondita. Her love for Rosogullas, her antics with the mirror, the way she barged into his space, her tendency to knock thrice; all these made him remember the little girl who had been the sun of his life.

Then came the even more troublesome issue. Somewhere down the line, he had started responding physically to her.

He swallowed as his mind flashed to the day in the bathtub when they had fallen into it. He had been shocked at the fall and had unconsciously reverted their positions pulling his body above hers. But then when he had lost his balance and slammed onto her, he had realized that things were much messier than he thought.

He had fallen on her and his hard frame had met her soft curvy one. He was acutely aware of the curve of her waist and the wet sticky cloth left nothing much to the imagination. As he splashed in the water, his hand had grazed the underside of her breast and she had turned her head sideways, leaving her long neck bare to his eyes as a red flush crept up her cheeks.

And Anirudh Roy Choudhury, instead of turning his eyes away, or calling for help; had just stared.

That was not just the end of his troubles. After that day, he would get confusing dreams in his sleep. He would be in the tub with a woman in his arms. It was not Vaijayanti but someone else. Her face was something he never saw but he knew her identity in his bones.

He held the woman whom he had unknowingly hurt in the sword fight arena; the woman whose touch had awakened him from years of slumber.

He held in his arms, his grown-up little bride who was his no more.

And didn’t that haunt him even more!

u are right even ani rememered elder moments be it applying haldi on her wound, her running in payal, her dupatta, her brushing so ani love due to his age, experience will be deep yet passionate yet conflciting as somehow he would see bon is an ideal aprtner for him as always

for bon she is a very ypoung girl who loves ani but her love is simple, innoncent and with deep respect which ani can also misunderstand as justher admiration as she very well knows the consequcnes of marriage she ahs faced in chuldhood-it will not be an easy task and to be honest their being married or not for me does not define endgame

over time she will love him more

ani is nit bon childhood love,he is her sansaar and everything and she is just happy seeing him happy

@bold: this thing came also and i guess ani shout lot be bashed\ and

for me ani marriage was a torture and hell and his humiliation of bon anniversary

unhe yeh trakc of mano ab laate after leap dono ke lite bon ke liye bhi

hope mano vaapas na aaye but bon ko pata chalega i know
