Aah I love this bondita ❤️ the one who actually wants to know Ani’s feelings towards her instead of just going by the past her rebellious nature adds more charm to her.

It makes a lot of sense why Ani is confused regarding his feelings. He took care of her as a parent, he taught her like a teacher. It will be hard for him to come in terms with his feelings. While Bondi is very clear as to what she wants. Because she always saw him as her husband.

Bondita will definitely make Ani realize his feelings which is different compared to the other fan fictions where Ani has to kind of make her realize that her thinking of him as a husband is not wrong. While I do love those stories, it kind of frustrates me when someone makes a decision regarding a relationship without talking to the person.

I hope Bondita is shown like this in the serial. Bold.

She loves Ani and is greatful to him but that does not define her. Which I see a lot of writers write about. She knows that even though Ani helped her, she also put in her hard work and effort to reach where she is today. So she doesn’t completely give all her credit of success to Ani.

This is a really refreshing take on Rudhita, as well as Bon as an individual... can't wait to see how you carry it out 😃

Exactly, he's a staunch traditional and obviously carries the attitude of a zamindar, but at heart you can see just how much he loves his family and children. He's a total papa bear! I love him 😃❤️

Chapter 4: Turmoil

Bondita stomped up the stairs and flung open her room doors as the anger thrummed through her veins. She glanced at her hand clutching the opened envelopes and its content. Her chest tightened, her breathing constricted. She suddenly felt confined in the room.

She rushed out to the adjoining balcony. The cool breeze hit on her face as she stepped out. Bondita forced herself to take a deep breath. Her eyes adjusted to the moon lit darkness around her. The swing in the middle of the balcony creaked slightly with the breeze. She sat down on it.

Her muddied head cleared in the silence of the night. The anger was a distant memory now. She felt drained.

Anirudh, can you see? Neither can I live in the past nor can I move forward from where I am. Since the very beginning, I have only been taught, my pati babu, is the centre of my life. His, my voice and my identity. As child, I never questioned it. But now? Bondita can have her own voice and her own identity in this world. You had made me a very capable individual, Anirudh.

I am utterly grateful, for everything you have done. You gave me a life. Without you, I will never have been the educated and liberal woman that I am today. Without you behind me, I would never have had the same opportunities. But why did you do all that you had to for me. Facing the wrath of your family, for marrying a widow’s daughter of no societal status. The humiliation, you were inflicted upon. Why when you were so against child marriage; you still married one? Something horrible must have happened. What is it? I cannot remember much of the day. Even Ma would not tell me...

Tears welled in Bondita’s eyes. She remembered Anirudh being unable to answer her earlier tonight.

You gave me a family, albeit a crazy bunch of men. But when our relationship, is a nameless one, how can I ever have built other relationships on this. What rights do I have on Kaka Sasur, Som Dada, Batuk, even Sasur when I am not sure if I have any over you. I did not understand then but now, calling you pati babu brings the same searing pain I saw in your eyes 12 years ago. We may have fallen into a habit later, does that mount to your acceptance of us. How about me? I cannot deny what I feel. The respect, the loyalty, the trust, the love…but is it a love as a woman would have for a man. A love that is shared between a husband and wife? I have not even begun to understand my own feelings, how could I question yours. What kind of life you have us both trapped, Durga ma?

Bondita could feel the heaviness descending again. She got up from the swing and walked to the balcony railings. She looked up the half moon warm glow in the sky obstructed by black clouds.

Dreams…From everything you taught me, your greatest lesson was to dream. The kind of dream that will keep us restless in the night. Can’t I, Bondita dream too? Can’t I even have a choice to dream? Have you ever asked what is my dream?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘The view won’t disappoint you. If you looked up.’’
Anirudh peeked out from his book with raised eyebrows. Parvathy had perched herself next to him, pouring some lemonade. She offered a glass to Anirudh, but he declined.
The morning after their argument, Anirudh realized the sparkle of Bondita had in her eyes were gone. Her smile seemed to have lost some warmth. She moved around the haveli with less enthusiasm. The haveli and every one in it also seemed to be damped by it. He had planned picnic trip to the nearby lake to cheer her up.
Anirudh puts his book down and stretched his stiff shoulder.
The clouds were painted in hues of blue, gold and pink. The lake shimmering in gold reflecting the warm morning sun rising behind the mountains. Bondita with Sujoth laughing about something nearby the lake, close to the tree they had spread their picnic out.
He could sense Parvathy expecting him to say something. He was not good with small talks.
‘Are you going to practice in Calcutta?’ Anirudh asked to break the uneasy silence.
Parvathy gave him a baffled look.
‘Anirudh babu, I majored in English literature in Oxford. Bon and I shared a room in the Student House. That’s how I know her’
Anirudh repositioned himself anxiously, avoiding Parvathy’s scrutinising eyes.
Parvathy smiled knowingly.
‘Pardon me, Anirudh babu. It is a surprise Bon did not share this with you. She is always writing these long letters to you every week. I just assumed you knew.’
It is true Bondita writes to him. Initially, her letters were about how her days was with interesting incidents and people, she met. Slowly the letters were more about her papers, cases he was handling and their thoughts on different topics. Rarely, it was about herself or her life in general.
He wondered if red was still her favourite colour. If she was still obsessed with roshogullas. She is surely less chatty these days. He had always thought he knew Bondita the most. But recently, his has been proven otherwise many times.
The change was so subtle. It never dawned on me, Bondita might have changed after all these years away.
Parvathy saw Anirudh lost in a deep thought.
‘Do you know there are four types of men in this world’
Anirudh was silent. They were both looking at Bondita and Sujoth playing skipping rocks.
‘One, does everything to have his needs met and the woman is there only to serve him. Two, cares for the woman’s need but believes only he knows what is the best for her. Three, gives choices to the woman but the choices are his, never hers...’
Anirudh eyes was on Bondita who was jumping in joy with her hand up in the air as Sujoth lost the game. Why was she angry the other night?
‘What is the fourth type?’ asking this, he stood up, smoothening down his pants.
‘The fourth, lets the woman come to her own conclusion and choose from her own choices. Finally, respects and trusts the choice.’
After a few minutes of silence, Anirudh excused himself from Parvathy and walks towards Bondita at the edge of the lake.
‘Anirudh babu!’ Just so you know, I will be teaching in Madras University after my training’ Parvathy called out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

‘’What did you tell him?’ Sujoth asked. He could see his sister had been up to something.

Parvathy gasped with her hands on her chest. She enacted a mock surprise by Sujoth’s accusation.

Sujoth could only smile at his sister antics.

‘He is a smart man. I didn’t have to say much’ Parvathy nodded towards Anirudh.

Down at the lake, Anirudh stood behind Bondita, silently looking on Bondita still playing skipping rocks. She was ignorant of her husband presence.

Sujoth chuckled. He wondered how could these two be so perceptive and clueless at the same time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bondita, do not misunderstand me. All the decisions I have made over the years have brought us to this crossroad. I do not have answers to any of your questions or even for my own.
I will not be able to hide much of the truth any longer. Eventually, you are going to find out why I send you away to London. I had to keep you from harms away.
Now, just like countless time in our past, I again need you trust and support me. I do not know how far we could go from here, but I need you to stay. Stay Bondita. Stay with me to find the answers to all our questions. All I have for you is time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Throwing the last stone in her hand, Bondita turned around. She was startled by Anirudh who had been standing behind her. She lost her footing and was about to fall into the water. Moving on pure instinct, Anirudh took a step forward and pulled her into his arms.

Time stopped when his eyes met hers.
