Bondita being a rebel is what makes it more interesting. Donât be sorry. I was waiting for a story with bondita being a rebel type for long.
Hi, back with chapter 2. Imagined how would the reunion with Kaka & Saudamini will look like. I don't think I did much justice to it.

Chapter 2 : The Haveli
Bondita closed her eyes and her head resting on the back seat. Her face was grim. Sujoth is driving. Parvathy looked at her concerned then turned her attention to the green car in front of them. All three sat silently, engulfed in their own thoughts.
The engine revering broke the silence now and then. Bondita head bumped against the seat every time the car went over rocks. The pain was welcoming. It took away the numbness.
When Bondita called Kaka Sasur from the Banerjeeâs mansion in Calcutta, he had mentioned Anirudh has yet to confirm his arrival in Tulsipur. She needed to meet Anirudh on her terms. She didnât know how but spending days waiting for his arrival alone in the haveli surely wasnât one. So, she had invited the Banerjee siblings for trip to her hometown.
Even in her wildest dream, she could never have conjured such a reunion with her Barrister Babu. His dumbfounded expression and struggles to put out coherent sentences amused her. A little payback perhaps.
Bondita chuckled and opened her eyes as the car approached a familiar looking driveway.
âBon, your haveli. It is so beautiful!â Parvathy awed at the Roy Chowdryâs haveli and the sprawling garden as they drove further in.
Bondita smiled absently. The haveli was the only home she had known after Sumatiâs passing. The Roy Chowdrys' were the ones she could call her own.
Anirudh could feel the start of pulsating pain on his forehead. How is he going to handle Kakaâs outburst? Saurabh pulls over the car on the driveway. He quietly bid his farewell to Anirudh and prayed to Durga ma for his friend mental health hereinafter.
âBadi malkinnn is back...uh?...no chota malik is here. Anirudh babu is here!!! Bhadi malik?â Bihari scratched his head in confusion looking at the arrivals.
âWhat are you blabbering again, Bihari!!!!â Kaka stomps out of the haveli and hits Bihariâs bum with his stick. Bihari yelps in pain.
âAnirudhhhh...youâre back...â Kaka said with a deep frown between his brows when he realized it was his nephew.
Anirudh took his blessing and stole few glances at black car and its occupants. He caught Bondita smiling at him sheepishly. The confident young lady that addressed him as âAnirudhâ earlier was gone.
âAhhh...are they your guests, Anirudh? Welcome...welcomeâ Kaka smiled at his guests and was about to invite them in when he does a double take and looks directly at Bondita, her hair again tucked in under the cap again and the outfit. A manâs outfit!
â BONDITA?!â an eerie silence follows.
Anirudh thinks Calm before the storm. And then all hell breaks loose.
Kakaâs face bluer as he forgets to take breaths in between his rant. Anirudh felt the rant had gone long enough, he was about to stop Kaka when suddenly Bondita hugs Kaka with beaming smile
âKAKA SASUR!â
Kaka stops mid-sentence. He frowns and unsure how to react. Bondita bends down and takes his blessing. She straightens up with eyes glistening with tears and her lips trembling. His fatherly instinct kicks in and hugs her back.
âBondita,child...â
âKaka Sasur...â Bondita lets out a sob.
Kaka pats her back and holds her chin up and looks at her with full of love. He knocks on Bonditaâs head lightly, chuckles when Bondita mocks a pain.
He turns away,âBihariii! Bring in the luggagesâ
Anirudh could never understand these twoâs dynamics.
âAnirudhhhh!!â someone squealed.
Anirudh and Bondita startled, looks at the direction of the squeal from inside the haveli.
âSaudamini??â they say in unison.
Saudamini skipped down the haveli stairs, beaming widely at Anirudh, totally oblivion of Bondita or the Banerjee siblings standing behind him.
Bondita eyes followed Saudamini as she stops in front of Anirudh. She was just as vigorous and ethereal as she was the last they met. Maybe rounder on the edges.
âANIRUDH! Youâre back...why did you tell me.â
Anirudh could feel an uneasiness raising in his stomach. The headache that started as a dull pain on his forehead earlier is tightening and squeezing his skull now. He pressed his temple a little forceful and closed his eye. The day couldnât be getting any worse. He was glad Binoy was not around today to add to his misfortunes.
Anirudh offered a polite smile. Saudamini ran her fingers lightly over his right arm and held his hand. Feeling no resistance, brought it closer to her and clasped it in both her hand. Anirudh could sense Bondita fidgeting next to him anxiously.
âI missed you.â She excitedly claimed.
Anirudh could not judge if her actions were innocent or laced with ulterior motive. He had realized years ago how cunning his childhood sweetheart could be. But, he wouldnât blame Saudamini solely. He was responsible too.
âHow is Abhijeet? Is he here too, your husbandâ Anirudh stressed his last words. In the corner of his eyes, he could see Bondita has gone still.
âNo. His travelling to Madras for a week.â
Before Anirudh could ask more, Saudamini added
âKaka mentioned Bondita will be here. I came by to see my sweet little Bondita!â
Anirudh snapped his hand away. His brow furrowed. What ridiculous schemes she will come up now that Bondita is back in the haveli.
Saudamini pouts. She then realizes the others around them. A man in dark blue kurta and dhoti and petite young lady in a yellow saree was grinning at her. A teenage boy standing next to Anirudh.
âWhoâŠâ Saudamini puzzled. The boy had a familiar face but she canât quite place it in her memories.
Anirudh knew it would be a disaster if Saudamini recognizes Bondita in this outfit. The gossips will be detrimental for the Roy Chowdrys. Binoy will taunt Bondita for days. He again opened his mouth to distract Saudamini.
Bondita jerks Saudaminiâs hand and twirls her. Saudamini almost loses her footing with the sudden movement. With her now signature lopsided smile, Bondita pulls Saudamini closer by the waist and gives a quick peck on the cheek.
Before,Saudamini could react, Bondita turns, leaps over few steps at a time and was at the haveliâs entrance, out of reach.
Saudamini eyes bulged in disbelief. Bonditaâs friends attempted to disguise their laughter at the outrageous act.
Saudaminiâs face is red with anger and embarrassment.
âYOU!!!...Anirudh!Who is this boy???â Saudamini stomped her feet.
âMini didi!â Bondita removed her cap, her hair came tumbling down and laughing at Saudamini scandalized look.
âItâs me. Yours weet little Bondita...â every word dripped with sarcasm.
Now that,Bondita was standing at a distance, and Saudamini could assess better.
The outfit gave hints of Bondita curvaceous slender figure. Her long luscious locks of hair swaying with her every each movement. Bonditaâs baby face was gone. Her skin was glossy albeit of makeup, tanned from the summer travel in the Europe. A pair of arched eyebrows and sweeping eyelashes framed her doe like eyes. Cheeks flushed healthily. Her dainty nose scrunched when she was laughing. A puffy heart shaped lips.
Saudamini felt the pangs of jealousy. How could she have mistaken Bondita for a boy? She glared at Anirudh. He doesnât seem to be aware of Bondita physical changes but was fascinated by her act as he always was when Bondita was 8 years old.
âSujoth!Parvathy! Letâs head inside. Iâm done here. Mini didi, do stay for tea.I insistâ Bondita waved her friends in leaving Saudamini no time to answer.
Now, Saudamini would not be feeding the Tulsipur grapevine after the embarrassment in front of the Roy Chowdry employees.
Before walking into the haveli, Bondita looked at Anirudh. She raised her head slightly and nodded at him with the lopsided smile Anirudh was getting accustomed to. Itâs was message to Anirudh. Bondita doesnât need him for a saviour!

Anirudh is dumbstruckđ seems like lots of nok jhok coming up
Loved it
Can't wait to read moreâ€ïž
Oh my god tharsh đ A standing ovation for this chapter. Loved Saudaminiâs reaction to bondu.
I liked that Ani didnât really notice how beautiful she got, he was amused by her personality. Waiting for all the Nokh-Jokhs coming up impatiently.
Kaka Sasur is my personal favorite character from the show. And I loved Kaka Sasur from this story too.
Wow, I love this Bondita! đ„ł This is how I imagine her future self too, bold and free-spirited âïž (although I do suspect she'll always have a soft little corner hidden away for Anirudh bcz of how much he's done for her, but that'll only be a small part of who is really is). Loved how she handled Mini lol đ
And I loved loved her reunion with Kaka!! Kaka is quite possibly my favourite character in the show, and I can't wait to see his bond grow with our girl... you honestly portrayed them exactly how I wish to see them in the future! đ
Amazing work, can't wait to see what happens next!

Chapter 3 : Questions?
It was late in the evening when Anirudh got back from meeting with villager heads. The haveli was shrouded in darkness except few lights in the hallway. He walked to his study.
To his surprise, the study doors were open, and the lights switched on. Walking in, he saw Bondita in a midnight blue saree with pallu loosely hanging over her shoulder, her feet up on the sofa. Her hair was in a messy bun held by a pencil. She was bent over a paper and her hand was moving intently. Her pupils dilated and her lips curved up slightly, a smile of content. Occasionally, she clicks her tongue, nibbles the end the pencil a little, frowns scrutinizing her work.
Anirudh removes his jacket and dumps it the other sofa opposite her. Sitting down at the large mahogany table, cluttered with papers, pile of envelopes and half read books, he looks across at Bondita. She does not seem to be aware of his presence. This was the first time they both in the same room, alone in years. He felt a little disappointed.
Bondita hands continued to work on the piece of paper. Her eyes had trailed Anirudh as he walked across the study room. She could feel him staring at her making her anxious.
âWhen did Saudamini get married?â
It has been a few days since they were back in Tulsipur. They have not spoken since then. Every morning and evening, she helps Kaka with the pooja and diligently following his instructions. Occasionally throws him off with her questions. The rest was spent with her friends. She was indifferent towards him. Her question took him by surprise.
âUh...sometime after you left for London,â Anirudh, his forehead wrinkled slightly in discomfort.
Silence.
Anirudh reached for pile of envelopes and sieved through them.
âWhy you never came to London all these years?â
âWorkâ Anirudh head shot up from the letters, the wrinkles on his forehead deepen. It was half the truth. Bondita was still sketching, looked absorbed. Not once she looked up. He cannot make out her feelings.
âIn Theaetetus, Plato says the definition of knowledge is nothing but a justified true belief.... But belief itself is based on our own perception....â Bondita paused, her was heart racing a little faster. Facing him in flesh gave her a rush of excitement coupled with anxiety.
She is baiting me, Anirudh brow arched..
âWhat is belief, Bondita? It is relation of our mind to some objects which are complex. Yes, it is based on our own perception and observation but then Bondita, if you see an apple on the tree, is it justified for you to belief apples grow on tree. In turn, as your belief is true, isnât it a knowledge that apples grows on a treeâ
Bondita had cast aside her sketchbook.
âBut thatâs is not enough to validate the justification my belief could amount to be a knowledge...â
They discussed, argued, and laughed for some time. Bondita spoke with her animated hand movement. She threw disapproving shot at him whenever she did not agree. Her excitement was contagious. She turned into her 8-year old self again, in Anirudhâs presence.
Anirudh was now standing resting against the front of his table, with arm crossed and chuckling to himself. Bondita had really picked his brain tonight.
âSorry, Anirudh. I am not fully agreeing. Perhaps another argument for another dayâ She yawned as she rose from the sofa.
âGood Night, Bondita.â He turned around to reach for the letters he was inspecting earlier. His eyes caught couple of envelopes addressed to Bondita.
âBonditaa, wait...you have these letters from....â His eyes widened. The envelope has emblem of several top law firms from different major cities in India.
In swift movement, Bondita took the letters away from him before Anirudh could continue his inspection. Her heart was hammering. She was not expecting these letters today.
âI applied for some positions from London. I wasnât sure they would even be hiring a lady Barristerâ Bondita had her back turned to him. She took a deep breath to settle her nerves before opening each envelope.
âWhy are you applying âŠ?â
âUh?oh Madras and Delhi...â Bondita mumbled. She was chewing her cheeks in concentration.
âBondita!â
âHmmmm....â Bondita was completely ignoring an increasingly agitated Anirudh.
He was losing his patience. Anirudh Roy Chowdry was not used to being ignored. He got up, grabbed Bonditaâs shoulders and turned her around bringing her closer to him. He had her full attention now.
With his muscles tensing, he asked again âwhy have you been applying for barrister positions...â
âCan fish swim? Is the Pope Catholic?â Bondita struggled to be expressionless. Why does he has a habit of asking the obvious questions?
âWhat??â Anirudh bewildered by the questions.
âWell isnât it obvious? I have to practice somewhere soon.â Bondita rolled her eye.
âYes. But, why inâŠ?â
âHow does it matter? Iâm applied because I wanted to.â Bondita said nonchalantly, shrugging her shoulder a little.
âIt matters Bondita! I have the right to know.â Anirudh gritted his teeth. His anger was boiling up. His grip on her shoulders tighten. Bondita kept shifting her weight from one foot to the other. She carefully chooses her next words.
âRight? Who are you?â
Anirudh snapped. He slowly brought her closer, just inches away from him. Bondita gasped as her body shivered against his.
âWho am I? Iâm your bloody damnâŠ.â Anirudh stopped before he could finish the sentence. Who was he? His anger smoked out in an instant. His grip loosens.
âWho am I, Anirudh?â Bonditaâs voice was shaky. Her eyes misty.
An unsettling feeling welled inside Anirudh. He does not know how to explain it to her that he has no answer to both her questions.
âYou are not going anywhere, Bondita. There will be no further talk on this.â He told her firmly. He decided until he has a solution for their circumstance, they both are not leaving Tulsipur.
A look of resentment swept across Bonditaâs face. Her eyes filled with defiance
âI will when or if I want to! Flectere si nequeo sĂșperos, Acheronta movebo.â She pushed his hands away and walked out of the study.
âIf I cannot bend the heavens above, I will move Hell.â Her words rang in Anirudh head.
Fatigue washed over him, he let out a soft sigh and rubbed his eye. On the table, was Bonditaâs sketch book, few of the sketches were hanging out. Anirudh picked it up and opened it out of curiosity.
Anirudh body stiffen. It was sketches of him from various period since their marriage. Some were purely her imagination, and some were from specific moments of the past. She drew every nuance perfectly.
He looked up, just in time to catch Bonditaâs silhouette moving up the stairs. Here she was sketching him in great details and on the other hand she is applying positions hundred miles away from him. Bonditaâs is turning into a total enigma to him.
