She is mine!
The bus was moving at regular speed but it seemed so slow to Amar. He constantly thought of Divya as he stared outside the window where everything was running to the opposite direction. His heart was running forward to meet the love of his life leaving behind a lot! My life won't be the same as before. I will be a new person with a new life with Divya in it. There is nothing in the world I would trade this new life with. Divya Divya Divya was the sound of his heart beat. He looked at what he's wearing. Divya gave him this shirt. He felt like her hands are wrapped around him. This comforted him a little. Will I find her in this address the hospital nurse gave me? What will I say to her? How will she react after seeing me? He felt pain thinking how he hurt Divya by all those insult that he hurled at her. How will I say sorry? Will she forgive me? He closed his eyes and could only see her face. She is the most beautiful person he has ever seen in his life. He knows he is tied to her. Its not how beautiful she is or what a wonderful person she is, there is more to her. He felt he was born only to be hers. This attraction is like a magnet. He has no control over his soul-its like a small iron piece pulled him towards her. All that mattered to him is seeing her again. He has to find her and tell her how sorry he is and how incomplete and worthless his life would be without her.
He can't remember how long he was in this reverie. The bus seemed to slow down and the conductor screamed their arrival at Delhi. It was so noisy with buses, cars, and taxis and people seem to run in every direction. Nothing mattered to Amar. He hopped on a taxi and uttered the address of Singh Mansion, where his Divya is staying. He was deep in thought. Will she be happy to see me? Is she really angry with me? Is she hurting? The last thought actually caused him pain.
The ride was short. The taxi stopped in front of a palace like house with lighting and decorations all around. Seemed like a wedding is going on. If someone in Divya's friend's family is getting married, she will definitely stay for the wedding. She hasn't left for Canada. Please Shambhunath, please…I can't bear the thought of not seeing her again. When he entered the main gate, so many people in ornate dresses and sarees were walking to and fro.
Then he saw her. His heart just became numb. His Divya is the bride! A sulking angel sitting as if this marriage is more of a funeral for her! The flickering fire in front of her made her face even sadder, as if life has left her! He is too late. Salty water came down his cheeks. Divya chose someone else! She is not mine anymore! His heart was so heavy with pain, his tearing eyes stared blankly at her. Exactly at that moment Divya looked up!
"Amar" she whispered! She just stood up making the pundit and Samrat and everyone around them shocked. They followed her gaze. She started walking towards him slowly as if in a trance passing everybody as if they didn't exist, and soon gathering pace. She started running towards him. Tears were flowing down. Amar stood spell stricken at his place, just barely having the strength to stretch his hands towards her. She saw his tears through her hazy eyes. She run into his open arms and Amar embraced her. She whispered "what took you so long Amar?" While grasping her breath she uttered softly "I knew you would come, I was waiting for you" They embraced each other so tightly as if there is no tomorrow. Amar smelled her hair and whispered back "I am here, I am so sorry, please forgive me, please..I cannot bear the thought of losing you" Divya hid her face in his chest whispering " I love you Amar, I love you so much, Please forgive me" .
Samrat screamed behind Divya, "let go of her, who are you?" Mohua, Rajib, Chandra and even Sindura seemed dumbfounded seeing Amar and Divya together. They stood staggered and felt time was reversed, they went back 20 years and Saagar and Vidya are standing in front of them! None could say a word. Samrat was all red, had all his blood run to face with anger! He gritted his teeth "Who the hell are you? Divya what the hell is going on? You can't act like this, nobody does this to me!"
Amar braced Divya with his left hand and put his right arm up stopping Samrat. Slowly with a confident tone he said "Divya is not marrying you. She can only be mine. Please mind your language! She doesn't love you as she can only love me. I have nothing against you. Divya and I are tied by destiny; there is nothing that can separate us."
Divya now looking stunning in her bridal wear beaming but holding on Amar's shoulder and left hand joined in, "Samrat, I am so sorry. I don't love you. I never wanted to marry you. I am tied to Amar for reasons I can't explain, as if we are married already. Please forgive me!" She was genuinely sorry but the tweak of immense happiness in her voice was so evident, that brought a smile in Amar's face filled with pride and love.
