Totally agree with Sravi...it wasn't long at all...Font camouflage won't work with us...go and start writing longer parts..like right now...

I loved the friendship....its natural to them like their fighting was...they just get along so nice together exactly like two pieces of a puzzle...

Radha is so sweet....I know she has such a big heart that she'll sacrifice her love without even blinking...but please please find someone nice for her.....

Ramadan mubarak to you...bought the new dress yet?

Part 25

Vidya

I walked outside to the student parking garage and saw Sagar already in his car. I opened the door and sat inside running my fingers through my hair to untangle a few strands due to the windy weather. Sagar whistled. "Wow, someone's looking good tonight."

"I know," I replied simply and we both laughed. "Now before we leave I just want to make something clear." Sagar raised his eyebrows. "If anything, anything at all, goes wrong tonight then I will not hesitate to beat you to death." I smiled at him and he rolled his eyes.

Manhattan at nighttime was my favorite place in the world. The bustling of people, skyscrapers, and livliness were my cup of tea. My day wouldn't feel complete without a walk through the streets although I always had a lot of work to do. Central Park was my other obsession. I found a peace I couldn't find anywhere else over there. I tried to make it a point to take a visit there or to Manhattan at least once every two weeks.

It took us nearly forty five minutes to get to Times Square due to the traffice even though the college campus was twenty minutes away. Once we hit Broadway, I stared out the window in awe. Every time I came here, it felt as if I had arrived for the first time. I never got tired of it. Instead, I was lost in my own world. You would expect me to daydream about a beautiful meadow filled with delicate flowers and plants and soft grass, but I could not think of life without a metropolitan atmosphere.

Sagar parked in a garage just across the road from the restaurant. I stepped out onto the street, closed my eyes, and eagerly breathed in the polluted city air. I felt blissful.

"Shall we?" Sagar held out his hand. I felt nervous already. God only knew what was going to happen tonight. I took a deep breath and slowly placed my hand in his. We crossed the street quickly and entered the restaurant.

Everything was dimly lit making my head spin slightly after the bright lights outside. We were led up a flight of stairs by the hostess and I almost ran back to the car. All of Sagar's friends were present including ones I didn't even know. But I knew one thing I was sure ofand that was that none of them were here for a little chit chat over dinner. There was going to be some hardcore partying.

I shuddered as my eyes landed on a bottle of whiskey in an ice pail. I could feel the dread on my face. "Vidya? Are you okay?" Sagar whispered to me. "You look a little sick."

"No, no," My voice was an octave higher. " I'm f-f-fine."

"You sure?" His concern was sincere.

I gulped. "Yeah, I'm sure."

"Hey man! Thanks for coming," Ethan came upto us to and Sagar let go of my hand, despite my will, to hug him. "You too, Vidya. Thanks for coming." I looked at Ethan and put on a smile. I wasn't afraid of being in Ethan's company. He was actually one of Sagar's friends who were kind to me like a select few. It was the others who were staring bleakly at me that were a bit intimidating, most of whom were girls.

Sagar told me to follow him and I more than gladly did. I can do this, I chanted in my head. We sat down as the waiters started serving the appetizers. I realized that Rohan was sitting at our table. He smiled and waved at me and I felt relieved. The food tasted good and that helped to calm me down a bit. I listened to their conversations, speaking only when nesessary. Everything seemed fine so far and I started getting less fearful of any unpredictable circumstances. I gradually joined in with their laughter and before I knew it I was feeling better.

The food really was excellent and I felt extremely full. I was in desperate need of fresh air. I leaned in to Sagar's ear and said, "I'm going to go walk outside for a bit. Do you mind?"

"Nah, go ahead, but don't take too long. You know how lonely I get without you." He winked and I slapped him playfully on the shoulder.

I felt like I had stepped out of a dense bubble as soon as I left the restaurant. My food was upto my chest. I concentrated on breathing in and out for a few minutes until finally turning left and walking right into the center of Times Square.

I knew the streets by heart so getting lost was out of the question. I strolled along feeling the cool fall wind on my face. I was feeling calmer until I looked at my watch and realized I had been walking for a bit too long. Thirty minutes too long. I half ran back to the restaurant. As I practically flew up the stairs and entered our open dining area, my heart stopped.

Damn! The page numbers are all messed up. Now I have to go back and arrange them all over again. Won't that be oodles of fun? Well, anyway I hope you enjoyed reading. Try and guess why Vidya is shocked 😉

Don't tell me she saw a girl kissing Sagar while they were dancing and she was all over him...

I would rather have them leave without waiting for her.. she would get scared about going back alone...but we know Sagar probably frantically looking for her in the crowd...

And things would be fine again...may be we can squeeze in an intense moment here...right? They will realize they are more than just friends? hhehehe

Just joking hun...not prompting....this is so good (only because you are such an awesome story teller!!) my imagination is running wild...please don't make us wait long...I need to know what happened next..my heart has a condition--in a very fragile state...hehehe

Nishi- oh my... calm down! don't jump to such extreme conclusions. good God! 😆 a girl kissing him?? never! not on my account 😆 but that running away and frantically searching scene was one that was in my head but I have something else in store... aww you're flattering me. 😳 guess you'll have to wait and find out what happens!
