okay, i've noticed in serials that if a wife of a modern rich man appears in something traditional, people in the party immediately start whispering, pointing and taunting them for being a bhenji or old-fashioned. raji, soni and mahi in maayka were taunted that way and now vidya is also being mocked at and made fun of people.😭😭

must we women forget our cultures once we marry into a rich modern family? is it wrong to embrace our roots and wear traditional clothes? these serials aren't really giving out a positive outlook on wearing sarees or salwars. it seems like every woman who wears that is being mocked at in a serial, i just hope it isn't the same for real life.

just wearing modern clothes doesn't qualify you as being cool. there are loads of women who carry off traditional clothes in a very dignified manner like mahi and vidya and still look gorgeous in them. i hope women won't stop wearing sarees or salwars because of what these serials are showing nowadays.

Yeah I totally agree with u Leena, what is up with that. Y do they do that???

I have said this time and time again, and I;m sure u all know what my opinion is on womean wearing saris and tradtional clothes. I don't understand y it is not seen as a good thing in these shows. I think womrn look great in those clothes.

I don't think women waering dresses are seen to b modern, I think it just shows u r trying to b a western.

i know exactly what u mean! but in america its the exact opposite. whenever there's a party and you wear western outfits, you're like the outcast. here people expect you to wear indian traditional outfits and thinks the grls look amazing in them. even better than they would in western outfits. in india, where the salwar kameezes and saris actually originated, they want to wear western outfits. i dont know..sometimes i think that india is trying to be modern too fast & just overdoing it
btw: hi! im reetu =]

I knw man. I saw the video and this random lady in the party said, is that Sagar's wife? I was like wth!! WHat is your problem? She looked far better than you. I think she could've worn something worse. 😕

As I said before, if an indian woman wants to look SEXY then wear a sari for goodness sake! You can't get a more glam outfit than a beautiful sari!

Completely agree Leena, it makes me really upset when i see those in the serials... what's so much better abt wearing some short dress than a sari? A sari doesn't make you look "old-fashioned" - my goodness. Those dresses make the people look worse, in fact... dunno why this thing goes on. 😕

I agree with you all. Here in US we all love to wear Sari's. Matter of my american friends love to wear it to. I work for GE and our IT leader had Sari on in one of Global meeting and she is a American. These show's really leave bad impact on young generation in India. Thanks all for wonderful thoughts.

You're 100% right Leena! I remember, when I used to go to school, I wore Salwar Kameez and just about everybody loved my outfits. Nowadays you can't do that because people start thinking that we're fro the old time villages or something? 😕
