Part 7:
Recap: SAgar finds out about Surili and calls it quits with her. He agrees to marry Vidya knowing that she will say no.
The next day, it was a Saturday. Vidya had already taken a bath and was in the mandir (temple) praying. It's said that if anyone ever asked her for anything before noon, she would happily give it to them. Well, only her parents know that. Anyways, she finished praying and turned around to see her parents. Her parents smiled warmly at her as she took their blessings.
VD: Vidya, if I ask you something today, will say yes?
V: Of course Papa, anything for you!
Vidya's dad smiles. He starts, "Vidya, days passed by so fast. I still remember when you were born. So tiny and so fragile. And now, you've grown up and become a very beautiful and mature young lady. Every father has a dream to wed off his daughter to a respectable home and I think that time has come now". Vidya starts looking worried. He goes on," Yesterday, Sagar's dad called. They have a marriage proposal for you".
V: What?
VD: Yes, they want you as their bahu (daughter-in-law), as Sagar's wife.
Vidya drops the thaali (plate).
VD: What happened?
Vidya starts crying and runs off the door of the temple when her dad stops her. He her around and makes her look at him.
VD: Darling, why are you crying?
V: Papa, I…I ca….I can't marry Sagar.
VD: WHAT??
V: Papa, I…I love someone else.
Vidya's dad moves away from her.
V: I'm so sorry. I just can't marry---gets interrupted by her father's loud voice.
VD: Bus( enough). I don't want to hear a single word from your mouth. I don't care about who you love. Sagar is a very nice and respectful boy and he's the one you're marrying.
V: No Papa. I won't marry Sagar. I don't love him. I love Rahul.
Vidya's father was shocked. He never imagined his daughter, who always listened to him, would say no. Suddenly, he puts his hand on his heart. His head starts sweating. Vidya notices this and quickly goes to him but he doesn't let her come near. Vidya's mother supports her husband as he tries to stable himself. But the pain was so much that slowly, he falls down.
V: Papa, what's happening to you?
Her mother tells her to call the ambulance. Vidya rushes to the phone and calls the ambulance.
A while later, you see Vidya and her mom outside the operation room. Her father had a heart attack. A major one. So major that he had to have an operation. Vidya was pacing around the place, trying to think why her dad had a heart attack. He was very healthy and this was his first heart attack. Just then, Sagar and his family come rushing in. Sagar's mother quickly goes to the crying Savitri (VM).
SM: What happened?
VM: It happened so suddenly. Vidya and her dad were talking about the pro---Vidya's mother stops talking. She didn't want to tell them what happened in the morning.
SD: Why did you stop?
Vidya's mom tried to say something but just hugged SM and kept on crying.
SM: It's alright. Everything's going to be fine.
Sagar spots Vidya. She was in the corner of the room. Her head was sideways leaning against the wall. Her eyes were deep shot red. Sagar went to her and put his hand on her shoulder. She quickly looked at him. When she saw Sagar, she hugged Sagar and started crying again.
S: Shhhhhh….don't cry. Everything's gonna be alright.
He started patting her head. A few minutes later, the operation door opened. The doctor had a smile on his face. Everyone rushed to him.
Doctor: Everything's alright. It was a major heart attack but he's well now. We're shifting him to another room. I wanted to ask you all something. As long as I've known Jaidevji, he was always happy and healthy. But today his heart attack…I think the cause of it was shock. I don't know what happened, but from now on, he shouldn't receive any shock. Otherwise, it'll be very bad for his health.
Vidya realized that the cause of her father's heart attack was her. What she had said to him. The way she said no to him.
V: Yeh maine kya kiya.----she muttered.
Everyone waited till Vidya's father was shifted to another room. Vidya had gone to the small temple in the hospital.
V: Dear God. I'm really sorry for what I did. I didn't know that it would result this way. I never meant to hurt him. I just wanted to tell him that I didn't love Sagar. That I only loved Rahul and wanted to marry him. But now, I'm really ashamed of what I did. I promise I'll make up for it. I'm gonna tell Papa.
Vidya gets up and goes to her dad's room. Everyone was there comforting him but he still had that sad/angry face. Vidya went in and sat next to her dad.
V: Papa?
Vidya's dad looked away. Vidya made her dad look at her.
V: I'm very sorry for what I did. I really didn't want to hurt your feelings.---tears start coming out of her eyes---But now, I promise I won't hurt you anymore. I…I wi...I will marry Sagar.
