All for a Good Cause

TV actors Mohti Malik and Additi Shirwakar who are also rumoured to be the latest couple in telly town, recently saved their driver's life and set an example of touching nobility. The duo collected an exorbitant amount in three days from fellow co-actors, friends and family that was required to pay the man's hospital bills after he met with a huge accident.

Telling us what exactly happened Additi says, "My driver Brijesh Kumar who has been with me for the past 5 years, recently met with a terrible accident. I was to leave for my morning shoot and he had still not arrived, and I was a little surprised as he is never late. I called on his cell phone and was informed from the other side that he met with an accident. I immediately ran to the site in Lokhandwala and saw the cops had already arrived. The site was horrifying; he was completely soaked in blood. Since it was an accident case we took him to a government hospital. He was already in a crucial situation as he had two brain clots and a skull fracture. We got his CT scan done and was informed it was a dangerous situation."

Disturbed witnessing the lack of facilites available at the Cooper Hospital, they decided on shifting him to a private hospital. Further she continues, "Finally the surgery was done, but it amounted to a figure way above what Mohit and I could afford alone. By then some of my friends like Simple Kaul and Sachin Shroff had arrived. We decided something had to be done. We started sending smses to everyone we knew and within two hours we collected Rs. 800000. We got an overwhelming response from people from the media/ non media, friends and strangers alike. Right from big directors to spot boys and light men on the sets, everyone offered to help and till date I receive more helping hands. The first day we collected 1 lakh and within three days we collected 2.5 lakhs. Finally the operation took place and it was a success.'
'After this incidence I believe humanity is still very much alive. It is just a matter of initiating something,' signs off Additi.
