But there are 18 year olds who have crushes on a lot older men around here as well......happens in real life and has been shown in movies......whats more, girls don't just have crushes, they act upon it. To cite an example from Hollywood, Nicolas Cage married a girl who was 20 and although he was not 50, he was well into his 40s.
Yes, 18 years old seems a bit too young but an 18 year old from a village in India is a lot more mature in thinking than her counterpart from the west.....don't forget, in villages in India most girls get married by the time they are 18 if not earlier......and Santu, had she not got married to DM, she would have got married to someone else. Why the villages, in most of the shows on TV, girls from educated, urban families are getting married by the time they are 18-19.
As far as Santu's behavior around DM is concerned, it's too much to expect a village belle from India who has just been accepted by her much older, authoritative husband who incidentally also happens to own the village she lives in to act as his equal.....I doubt she ever will, it's not that kind of setting. Yes, she has a lot of growing up to do which she gradually will I am sure. Under most circumstances she behaves pretty maturely, perhaps more mature than one would expect a girl of her age.....but obviously all this must be overwhelming for her....not only has she been accepted by her husband who she is in love with and in awe of, he is suddenly showering a lot of attention on her, treating her with a lot of care and understanding, she is bound to feel a little out of her element around him. I am sure as she becomes a little more assured in her relationship with him, we will see her behaving a lot more normally around him but I doubt she will ever behave as his equal in that sense.
