Gosh...so many opinions..I love it..

Ok, I think many of you got the wrong impression about the whole watching with my mom thing. It had nothing to do with my mom watching with me, I watch stuff with my mom all the time. Anyone seen Cruel Intentions? I saw that with her. I never feel awkward watching stuff with my family, the only reason as to why I felt weird watching this was because unlike other people, I could not get the age out of my head. DM and my mother are the SAME age, and Santu is younger then me. Like Mahmansma said, its this Western view point that seeps in while watching something.

I must say, in all honesty I have gotten extremely worked up and angry about some of the dialogues due to the blatant dominance and sexism I see. In my own view point some of the stuff in Indian Soap Operas clash with my own upbringing and mindset, and its hard to step away from them and watch something without bias. Which I feel is the problem here. I try my best to pretend that I am NOT watching two lovers with worlds between them, of age, class, education, experience, but rather two people are really 'falling' in love. Its hard, hence where the awkwardness comes in.

I am still gonna stick to it and take it with a grain of salt, however after watching today's episode I don't know if I can stay sane long enough.

I have a difference of opinion here about the western viewpoint on age difference.....I didn't grow up in the west but have been living here for many years.....and I think people in the west are a lot more tolerant about age discrepancies in relationships or marriages than people back in India, at least that has been my experience. Infact I feel that the people here are lot more tolerant about all sorts of discrepancies in relationships than folks in India. Here, relationships with 15/20/25 years or more are a lot more common than in India, have seen several examples amongst celebrities as well as in real life and most of the time people do not even talk about it, just take it in their stride.....and most of these relationships are voluntary as opposed to in India where most of these are probably forced.

Yes Shalu, in the west people are very tolerant of the age difference, nationality difference and many other things. They look at the person and not so many outside things. Their view is clear. But Indian views are so different and too complex.

I understand what your saying, and yes they are common, however, I have yet to see anything where an 18 year old girl has the hots for someone who is 50. Yes, age discrepancies are more common, yet there is always a negative stigma behind it.

Older women- cougar
Older man- old dog

and so on....it is more accepted, I agree, yet there is always, and will always be that underlying negativity involved. And the age differences are not talked about after a certain age, like Cathrene Zeta Jones, shes 30 and her husband is 55, no biggie, same with Ashton and Demi, hes 30 to her 45...its just that after the age of 25 its not as impact full as opposed to having someone fresh out of the school room...

The thing is, its the way she is portrayed around him. Like some ninny....if she had a stronger back bone, or if he was less dominant around her it could balance it out.

Lets just hope that this certain track can bring out a nice balance in the both of them in which viewers like me don't have to bring in their age into the picture.

But there are 18 year olds who have crushes on a lot older men around here as well......happens in real life and has been shown in movies......whats more, girls don't just have crushes, they act upon it. To cite an example from Hollywood, Nicolas Cage married a girl who was 20 and although he was not 50, he was well into his 40s.

Yes, 18 years old seems a bit too young but an 18 year old from a village in India is a lot more mature in thinking than her counterpart from the west.....don't forget, in villages in India most girls get married by the time they are 18 if not earlier......and Santu, had she not got married to DM, she would have got married to someone else. Why the villages, in most of the shows on TV, girls from educated, urban families are getting married by the time they are 18-19.

As far as Santu's behavior around DM is concerned, it's too much to expect a village belle from India who has just been accepted by her much older, authoritative husband who incidentally also happens to own the village she lives in to act as his equal.....I doubt she ever will, it's not that kind of setting. Yes, she has a lot of growing up to do which she gradually will I am sure. Under most circumstances she behaves pretty maturely, perhaps more mature than one would expect a girl of her age.....but obviously all this must be overwhelming for her....not only has she been accepted by her husband who she is in love with and in awe of, he is suddenly showering a lot of attention on her, treating her with a lot of care and understanding, she is bound to feel a little out of her element around him. I am sure as she becomes a little more assured in her relationship with him, we will see her behaving a lot more normally around him but I doubt she will ever behave as his equal in that sense.

Since ekta has made this show for 'desi minds'👏..and not 'western minds'..so obviously western minds may not like certain things shown in this show .

BUT as far as 'desi minds' are concerned WE do not find anything wrong with this beautiful romantic story of an old man dheeray dheery falling in love with a young girl😍..neither do WE find it creepy or cringy or demeaning when DM does some ched-chad with his chokri..like scolding her or calling her duffod or teasing her about something..touching her chin or cheeks..giving her some ankh ke ishare or some harmless hugs😍 Btw so far DMs ,verbal and physical ,ched-chad with his chokri has been very shareefana and within the limits of desi decency👏

So please do not spoil the maza of Sanraj for 'desi minds' like me by 'nikalo keede' in their romance.. just because of their age difference 😭😭.
