I am in the minority, and agree and I have always found it really wrong. I guess I am old fashioned. I can't bear someone who is my dad's age looking at me like that or even thinking about me like that. And when you couple it to the fact that DM never really thought of her in this way till last week, you know that this is being forced down his throat. Yes, he is now expected to think of San in a romantic way and is doing so. I guess Ekta likes these 'wrong' links - father -daughter ones especially...see what is happening in Bairi Piya...again a very wrong relationship, but she sees a 'soap' in that, and by watching it we make her bank balance grow. So, can't really blame her for anything that happens here. It is her way of earning money.

I'll have to second this. I find it a bit awkward as well even though, as many put it, its endearing and cute. I also agree with how the director/creatives havent made it an overtly romantic scene. But again, the whole angle seems so wrong when DM has always been portrayed as a dominant father and Santo's character is little more than a child. I'm not sure how this attictude will change in the following episodes, though I can only hope that they show Santo to be a bit more adult-like, not just in clothes and thinking, but in obvious actions as well. Maybe that will make this realtionship easier to swallow.
Lovely post btw. Thanks.

I have to agree with the minority; yes it's cute and sweet but there doesn't seem to be that equality in the relationship as DM had with Subhi.

There is definitely a 'Father' role being played (Freudian analysis) in the way he has to teach her so many things, and I do think that part of the problem is the difference, not just in age but background, education, exposure to life have not really been seen or addressed.

I also think it is a mind set thing, in the West we are taught that an older man taking an interest in a small girl is a definitely a no-no and maybe if they had shown Santu as being 22 or 23 or 24 or even older and DM as 50 we wouldn't have such a problem.

It could be a Western attitude thing too. I am Indian, but have lived in US for long. As a teacher of young girls, we also constantly tune them (Esp here) to watch out for the 'predator' kind of male. Guess that is why I dont enjoy these oldie men-young innocent girlie 'jodi's.

More than that, it is the constant 'dufford' kind of remarks that get to me. I cant imagine a husband calling his wife a fool all the time 'lovingly'. After a point of time, it is demeaning. I would like my hubby to love me coz I am smart!

Oh well, it is a serial. Guess we need to leave our brains out and watch it.

Well I think they're cute and getting cuter by the moment but it's true that I'm bothered by DM's attitude towards Santu and how she reacts to it - he treats her like a child and she doesn't know how to not act like a child around him. She's extraordinarily clumsy and silly around him, more than she is around anyone else. Maybe she's nervous but it looks more like she's doing the things that she knows will get his attention and annoying him does the trick best.

He's slowly beginning to see her as someone he's attracted to, but now I've to wonder if he's actually doing it to see her blush and stammer because it's clear she has NO clue what the hell he means when he says he's going to "arrange her saree" for her on their honeymoon. (Hawwwwwwwwwwww!!!)

Anyway. They're taking it very, very slow so far and I think I like that.

i have to agree with you lovestruck. i never had any problems with any of their interaction till now. i loved how dm started entrusting more responsibility and trusting her more. but i cant seem digest these lovey dovey scened. whenever i see shashank i cant help wondering how get it would be if they were pair.

from the first i didnt like the idea of a man marrying a girl younger than his kids, but since the storyline was more in santu getting accepted by the rest of the family, it was ok to watch.

dont get me wrong, i think the pair has real chemistry between them. their scenes yesterday caught the screen on fire, and they obviously are good actors.

but well, i never liked relationship between an older man and little girls. it just seems too cradle snatching, fatherly or predatory.

RR and Aasiya have great chemistry, that's why they can pull off their romantic scenes.

In the real world, that would be a no no in my book, 50 year old man with 18 year old girl. Even in soap world I would hate it if it was a different pair. RR is in his 40's but he looks a lot younger, and he is very handsome and hot, so he can portray this DM character so well.

I really don't care about the age factor, if I did wouldn't be watching this show.....when DM-Santu are on screen, their age is the last thing on my mind coz they look sooooo good together....and I also agree with Mallika, another actor/pair might not have been able to pull it off....but our SanRaj are perfect......I find all their scenes very natural and endearing
