Did Kanji say he was in jain for 20 years??

In his dialogue with Tarulata...Kanji happened to mention that he was in jail , thanks to her and her father he spent 20 years in the jail. But wasn't he actually in there for 14 years??

He was in jail for twenty years but he espaced and then got caught again!

Looks like he has been in and out of jail for 20 years. He may have been in jail for nearly a year (the time when Taru was carrying), most probably as an undertrial. After a year, he escaped, kidnapped the baby and handed the baby to his friend. He may have been on the run for nearly 5 years before being caught and put in jail for 14 years. So I guess, his effective jail term may be about 15 years.
