The protagonist Anandi lacked heroism which should be the characteristic of a true lead. I pitied her, I empathised with her but she never inspired me. Her approach to social issues was not professional but laughable. Her goodness was wasted on wrong people and her goodness was not needed by the right people. Yet she occupied the central place and she became the problem and problem solver. Anandi allowed herself to be used and dominated by people from dadisa to Ira. Now she is reduced to become a clotheshorse and her dress sense is making more news than what she is doing. Her admirers from Shiv to Ananth saw in her a woman who will never be a threat to their manhood. She will always find something to occupy herself than give them trouble the way a Sanchi or a Pushpa can give. Jagya found her wanting in something. Maybe he wanted a challenge.
Anandi is a paheli. A seedha saadha woman who was turned into a heroine by circumstances. Whats her contribution? Being allover and everywhere.

@leaves, what a nice post !

I agree totally with your very first line...She does lack the qualities of a leader. A person like anandi can never lead.

One of the important roles of the leader is to make quick decisions after weighing all the options... Anandi is very slow in making decisions. Moreover, she does not weigh all the options eg, dadibua's case, jagya's infidelity... Most of her decisions were wrong and were emotional-decisions, not logical.

In short, she is not far-sighted and forward thinking.

She lacks intuition, due to which she lost her daughter and one of her students, pooja, is soon going to be an unwed mother.

And lastly, she lacks the ability to inspire... Was she able to inspire people, Mangala would have felt enthusiastic to send nimboli to her shiv niketan... Anandi rather put fear in her mind.

In real life, a person like anandi can never become a leader. She is okay as a teacher and a counsellor.

Anandi lacked heroism?

Who exactly is a hero? A hero is someone who would not to think twice before reaching out to people in trouble

A hero is someone who doesn't fear for his/her life

A hero is someone who will always stand up for what he/she thinks is right.

This is the same girl who has been rescuing child brides from the time she herself was a child.

She never stopped to think whether she would get help in doing what she thinks is right.

She set the lead and others followed her.

Bhairon Singh the wisest man was so loathe to against his domineering mother but the litlle girl had all the guts defy this old lady to do what she thinks is right.

She helps others fight for themselves and stand up for themselves.

Pushpa and Sanchi are examples of womanhood?😛 These women who want their husbands to dance like puppets in their hands are paragons of womanhood?Did these women wanted men or wanted dolls to play with or dolls that talk and dance when key is turned?

Shiv chose Anandi because she is no threat to his manhood?😲 Or did he chose her because she is someone who had enough and more inner strength to give only good to the world which has been harsh to her?
What were the reasons for Shiv choosing her? She has an identity of her own and whose thinking is unconventional yet respects relationships.Shiv loved her and respected her for what she is.

Why can it be not that Shiv had more guts to accept her for what she is?

Jagya's reasons for rejecting Anandi was it because she did not have what he wanted her did he not have it in him to get what he wanted out of her?

All the things that Anandi was forced to do in her first marriage by Dsa in the name of tradition and her husband in the name of fulfilling his wishes she did willingly in a whole hearted manner for her second husband.😉😆

The Anandi who allowed herself to be dominated by Dsa was a child.and inexperienced and not a mature woman.

There are two different aspects of Anandi - she would not allow anyone to come in between her beliefs about what is right and what is wrong. She doesn't let family influence her beliefs. She was most of the time fighting her family to cling her values and principles and what she believed as truth.
How many people have it in them to get into conflicts with their own loved ones for the sake of principles and what they believed as truth? How many people have it in them to be prepared to lose every relationship for the sake of what they believe as right?

Yes where her desires and dreams are concerned she always put other's happiness and well being above her own if that makes her door mat so be it.

Did Anandi ever care for what people around her think about her? Was she ever shown thinking what will society say ? Was she ever afraid of the society and it's reactions?

Can't argue with people who think clingy women and bossy women define womanhood.

I agree with your point regarding leadership quality! Anandi might be selfless enough to save others in time of need but she also makes a mess with her illogical thinking! Her methods to solve issues are not always practical and in real life, it could land a person in huge trouble. In fact even in BV it landed her or few others in huge trouble though storywriters never acknowledged it.
In real world, Anandi could not be made a real leader! It's a different story that in BV world Anandi is above everything and better than everyone!

I do not agree with your point regarding the men in her life. It is true that Anandi was never a headache, dominating or challenging woman for Shiv like Pushpa or Gauri had been to Anant and Jagya respectively. But Shiv or any man who got attracted to her never really took that plus point of her in much consideration while wishing for her as the life partner. It was rather Anandi's ability to stay committed to any relationship and give it's best that attracted Shiv. Apart from her independent and selfless nature, it was her admirable tolerance to withstand the negativity in her life that attracted Shiv.

A true leader is someone who takes initiative to do the task at hand doesn't wait for help to arrive builds consensus and takes people along with him or her.
Anandi has them all.

Well there are some characters who walk their own path and are true to only themselves and Anandi is one of them.

They only do what is right according to their own beliefs. They are not influenced by circumstances or people in this. The world may call them weird but they stick to their own beliefs

These are good points which I could not put through. Thanks.

I think once Shiv said what qualities he wanted in a wife.

Anandi is everything except a leader. She was a good bahu and that matters in all tv serials. She can be an amateur minister doling out how to run a state but she wants to run the state. She leaves her ventures whenever she wants to. A leader shows true grit under adverse circumstnces. But she gave into elders' demands relocating to BH. Her efforts in asking Jagya about Ganga's wish was superficial. Any other woman would have understood the repercussions. Her search for her daughter lacked punch. She could have failed gloriously. Instead she failed timidly.

She cares for people around her whether they are family or outsiders. If that is weakness then so be it.

What ties her down is bonds of love and not fear of losing something or fear for her life or more importantly fear of unknown.
