The intensity can be felt only when its two way let it be whether out of responding or reacting.
Their so called romance scenes are getting better than before day by day! How? Its because there is a response or reaction from her when he initiates it (Didn't intend to say this as mostly he does it). What he wanted from her at that moment can be seen in her eyes, from her body language and much more!
Like wise, emotions must flow from both even if one is at pain. Its not a medical science that its so difficult to show!
Not expecting a hard core performance from her. But dont make her sit idle next to him. Its giving wrong message that A isn't still physically comfortable with S as its not the case, to be honest!
Just try to show his pain through her eyes once followed by some small small physical gestures. Eg: The way She was holding His one hand by her two hands while walking (and media says they are not on 'talking terms' ?! Funny) in hospital scene just before to check the record.
Its all the 'action' and equal 'reaction' that conveys the message! This can be termed as whatever we like.

I don't think that scene in the car has gone down well with the viewers There is quite a bit of criticism on that scene every where. I don't think they can ignore this much of flak.

It will work when every action draws equal reaction from opposing object that too at the right time. It is as simple as that or as complex as that😛😆
