Past trauma isn't the reason here I think...she hesitated because I think she feels burdened by guilt. it's hard for her to accept his love now because she knows even if she is happy, many hate her, cursed her, and are sad...she thinks it's all because of her...she's completely stunned by the sudden change of events.
