More than business, I will call it humanity. And yes, he wanted to atone and redeem. That need is strongest.

Or we can call it a mission. He started something and now he is in no mood to give up.

Precisely. Its his environment which is creating all the bottlenecks for him now. Had Saanchi not pushed herself on him, I highly doubt he would even have paid any heed to her. 😆

I doubt he does. Jagya for one isnt the kind who will get engaged to another girl, if he is in love with one. At the moment he is two steps from realising his love. Though I want him to know it, it will make him feel more trapped. With his mom whining 'Anandi ka Saasra' in his ears all the time.

I feel that Jagya knows... but realizes that a relationship with ganga would be an ultimate dead-end because his mother will not accept her. And he is not prepared to fight his family again to marry someone of his choice.
Sometimes people in love just feel it emotionally and don't take a stand because of the practicalities of their circumstances.

anandi took a long time to fall in love with shiv.

seems Jagya also is taking a long time to acknowledge his feelings. If he really has such feelings.

As of now he has no such feelings for ganga. If he has, he would not have committed to sanchi even as a duty.

I can atleast discuss Jagya here. None of my friends want to discuss him, 'Oh Jagya is always falling in and out of love, he is always surrounded by atleast two women.'

But I have seen him stumble and grow up, and I have ALWAYS liked him. Ok, not so much when he was an utter ass with Gauri around, but his character is believable. I adore him. 😊

leaves,
I don't see it as a commitment to saanchi per se. I see it as him making a commitment to his family inspite of his love for ganga.
Love for ganga is one thing, but then it has to be taken forward into a natural progression -- marriage. How long can he just keep loving ganga?
And he isn't prepared to make that commitment to ganga because it will once again come at the cost of his family's happiness.
So he has shut it off by getting engaged to saanchi.
I see him as making a deliberate choice to forsake his feelings for his family's happiness... and not just a default choice because he didn't realize his love for ganga prior to the engagement with saanchi.
