The family she claims she is protecting is NOT with her on this . They have other thoughts . So , who is she protecting ?

As i see it , she ENFORCES decisions on him by playing games or manipulating conversations always be it accepting the proposal or helping an abused woman , its HER thoughts that count to her not HIS .

Actually everything was going her way . Son had agreed to abide by HER wishes in the marraige , Saachi was HER choice , not his . But she became more and more controlling and crossed her limits when she tried to force her principles on him . He has started rebelling . When it becomes a clash of principles , the chasm between a difference of opinion widens . What Sumitra wants is the son to eat well , live a life of luxury and find joy in being the Shekhar puppet always keeping Anandi's happiness in mind and give up his rather naive principles and all those stupid thoughts of helping abused women etc . This is the BEST life for him and she will decide it , not him , he doesn't know anything . She and Saanchi have teamed up coz both in their own way want to control Jagya .

Mind blowing thoughts Kools.

Two things you mentioned stand out more than others for me.

@ red. So true. The family never asked her to protect them. In fact they are willing to put their lives on the line. Why is she imposing her morals on them? As some here said that Jagya shouldn't impose his morals on Sumi, so too Sumi cannot impose her rights on others. As Sumi has rights to decide whether she wants to help Ganga or not and the extent to which she will help, so too the rest of the family has their own rights too.

@ green. This particular line got me thinking that when Anandi was doing her samaj seva even in private capacity before sarpanch days, helping others, not once did Sumi discourage or stop her and I'm wondering if it was because Anandi wasn't her blood. So her silence then was just taken as support. Now before I get attacked, let me explain that this thought just occurred to me with no desire whatsoever to insult or attack Sumi. No intent there, just curiosity. This line in green, actually the whole sentence gave me food for thought. Want to weigh in Kools?

Picasso it is clear now . Sumitra has different rules for different people . She is not a bad lady but a very flawed human being . Saanchi , on the other hand is bad .

Anandi was her bahu . Not her blood . It was ok if she did social service . The guilt of personal responsibility was also there as it is in parents of most arranged marraiges when marraiges don't work out .

But own son is something different .

She does not mind if Shiv , the son of a well settled family marries a divorcee but

she does NOT want Jagya to marry one .

She welcomes Shiv's broad minded views but where Jagya is concerned it must be according to HER wishes and social gossip .

Abused women r good enough for helping from afar but son must lead a life of success by societal standards .

Her yardsticks for Shiv , Anandi , Jagya and Ganga r different . She will stop Anandi and Suguna from going out at night , not Ganga , as she is indifferent to her fate .

Its Ira in the Shekhar family and Sumitra in the Singh family who r flawed and think Saanchi is the best girl out there . Both r blind to Saanchi's persona .

Ira looks at her with so much pride when she is ordering decor in the house or prepares one vegetable one day . Actually that proves nothing . A mother knows the child like the back of her hand and has enough life experience to know that nature NEVER changes and Saanchi has given ample experience to Ira of her nature .

Sumitra too has experienced her outspokenness . A third person is actually more objective and if it is her son's bride , more observant . But for Sumitra the question of Saanchi's nature is secondary . She is from such an established family ! So well connected ! And not a widow or divorcee either . She chooses not to even dwell on the finer points like Saanchi's nature , upbringing etc . If ever there is a spat , it is all childishness which will eventually work out . For that why leave such a good rishta !

A good rishta meaning ...a virgin from a well settled family . Other things r secondary .

Hence the deliberate blindness of Ira and Sumitra ...one bcoz of filial bias and the other bcoz of social snobbery .

@TM..i loved ur post...

truly jaggya is making a difference and i want to thank the CVs for showing it...even if today people think that he has not changed then i must say the problem is with them only!..they will never forgive jaggya!!...i think which is very unfair...

i remember that six jaggya scene...and i am glad that finally that one good jaggya is able to defeat other 5 bad jaggyas!! 😆

this is why i like BV so much...and i still believe that BV is different than any other shows...here people do change!!...haven't we all forgave the changed DS?...then why can't we just forgive jaggya!?
