I understand. What you mean to say how the society which belittles the prostitutes still respects them through the rituals. Even I found this strange as a child 😊

It is so much easier to point finger and look down at other people but what I have learned something is never to look down at any human being because of what they do because sometimes you can't even imagine what the person has been through and what they had to do to survive. Thanks Ayesha. In our country I am not sure if prostitution is legal. However there are millions living on this business even today and society still looks down upon them. But Ayesha it was not always like that. If you read our history, at some time they lived with honor and the ritual is a representation of that.

In past a prostitute was know as Bohubhogya (someone who could have many partners).

Even Amrapalli, the well-known courtesan who later became a Budhist monk was living life of luxury and honor. It's said that she was so rich that even the mighty king used to ask her for donations whenever he needed money for the public
