In US or other advanced countries, Indian women dont wear sarees to workplace out of their own choice. They wear comfortable business suits or simple pant and shirt or top.
India is multicultural and more liberal. Anyone can wear anything literally and it is the public who frowns upon.
I did not find Sanchi's dress bad. And young girls try to imitate as they find them quite attractive. In almost all films, heroines like Deepika, Lara, Katrina, Kareena wear similar attires.
Blaming a dress is ridiculous. In Goa, more than half the girls wear small skirts and that includes some fat aunties and grandmothers as well! No one bothers.
Sanchi is young and slim and thus the dress does not look awkward.
The other part is the background. Shekhars are liberal people and they generally dont object unless the dress is too short and too provocative. For anandi, even a salwar kameez is quite modern!
The bad boys are targetting Sanchi for other reasons and they wont care if she is Collector's sister or not.
