There is actually some reasonable discussion happening here...yay! I hope it lasts a bit longer before being unfortunately hijacked or closed due to whatever reason is presented. I was waiting for such a thread to open. Although don't have high hopes for it staying open for long...
@TM in terms of your previous post, I personally wasn't offended by it. Just thought to clarify since I did post a comment on comment on that thread. My only thing was that you name it for what it was, a fun post regarding audience reactions to Toral's acting.
If I became offended by every single post or thread that was put up on this forum, I would be perpetually angry since more often than not there is a war of words breaking out on every other thread.
Parri, Skepblun and SiriuslySujal (sorry don't know your informal online names) have all raised important points regarding the current state of the forum.
In particular, Skepblun your point about everyone being intolerant on the forum. I completely agree with this part. Everyone is ready to jump down each other's throats at the slightest hint that there is an insult happening/being made. As such there is no sense of humour left over to have fun with whatever is happening on the show or characters. Which is really sad because there is a comedy goldmine with the current tracks.
Unfortunately the replacement issue has spread across the forum and turned this place into a warzone. Everyone is declaring their allegiance to a particular base and promoting their willingness to go to war to prove their point or defend their base or defeat the other side. And those who don't really care about these things are being dragged into it as well.
People are really really sensitive about things at the moment and half the time I feel like I'm walking around on eggshells so I don't accidentally offend anybody's sentiments. But the sad truth is that people are offending each other left and right because they are upset or angry or frustrated. As such people including myself begin to question what the intention of thread makers are when they post content. Is it to be creative and highlight something within the show or is it meant to be a dig at a particular fan group or sentiment? Is it meant to be constructive or an instigation? Is there some hidden offense contained within the post?
Some people post things in good spirit and it is taken the wrong way but there are others who most things in a mean spirit while claiming it is all innocent fun. Yet the responses posted on such threads clearly indicate that there is no innocent fun involved.
The other thing that I find weird for me is that because of all these lines being drawn everywhere, I feel like I can't discuss something or like something that someone who has passionately declared sentiments that I don't necessarily share has posted or written. It's almost as if I won't be taken sincerely or genuinely and might end up insulting that person. Exhausting.
I like reading posts of opposing views because it is very informative for me and gives me better appreciation for what is happening in the show and around the world. Unfortunately now almost every single thread gets re-routed back to the actresses and the war of words/reporting/thread closing begins again. Like Parri said, it's like flogging a dead horse. I have no problems with any actress being praised or criticized as long as some sort of decorum is maintained. And while something might start off as appropriate, it quickly becomes taken over by members who respond with less than appropriate responses. And the cycle continues.
Basically in a gist...this whole situation sucks.
